oh Nigeria!! the country where job seekers are made to pay money for this or for that, I don't understand how these people think. why charge a job seeker money? i have seen situations where job seekers travelled from Lagos to abuja to write aptitude test with access bank, yet some of them couldn't write. no space..

I really don't understand the logic in collecting money from job seekers, to me its just downright stup.id selfish and exploitative. there is no excuse for it whatsoever. a job seeker will be travelling round d country to attend interviews @ different parts of the country.

the question is do these employers ask themselves, where do these job seekers get the money from? how do they accommodate themselves, when they reach their destination. how do they cope with coming to an area they are totally not familiar with?

these companies are just downright selfish and wicked, u see banks telling marketers to raise 40m naira monthly as target. yet one of this useless banks paid Maria Carey up to 20million dollars to come and perform at a private banking dinner.

bunch of wicked beastly hypocrites. looking 4 who to enslave use and manipulate and finally dump u like trash

If you cannot write your CV, I don't see why you shouldn't pay someone else to do it. Do it yourself or pay someone who can. Na wa o!

i need to ask a question is PushCV using a gun to force users to use their services, you don't complain when you have a choice, also a business is meant to sustain itself, if something is free then it means you are the product. you think Nairaland won't be harvesting your data for sale, i know i would.

This is not an issue of Nigerian being stingy or loving free things but an issue of being vigilant of scam. We all know of many other fraudulent recruitment agencies that deceive job seekers just to dip hand into their purse. For the fact that PushCV does not make it compulsory, I think its still good.

Odunayo Eweniyi really! We went to pry school together. Go girl! Make money joooor. Am sure u guys aren't forcing anybody to use your platform.

pumpingmachine:
In response to a thread on Nairaland referring to PushCV’s elite programme as a scheme, the startup as explained why it is asking users to pay to have their CVs rewritten by the company.

In an exclusive interview with Innovation Village, Odunayo Eweniyi, Co-Founder of PushCV, said the company is charging its users that are making use of its premium career services.

She said: “PushCV has 3 parties involved: the labor market, employers and PushCV itself. We provide value to job seekers by building them up and preparing them for employment. We charge them for career services. Employers trust PushCV to find the best fit for their vacancies from our pool of qualified and fully tested candidates.”

According to her, providing these services is the way the company is generating revenues.

She said: “We, as a company, make money from providing these services to job seekers. They are never charged for placement. What we charge for are the premium career services that we provide e,g CV rewriting and creation as well as taking some courses on our learning centre.

“Companies are charged for the provision of these candidates quickly and efficiently.

“In conclusion, we are a business. We make money from building employability; and all of our services are optional. Most of our revenue is from the companies that request for theses premium candidates.”

Yea your right sad

Bro, that's why being an Entrepreneur pays.

Just like I read in a book, its advisable to be self-employed, after which if you feel like, you could still source for a white collar job.
But you'd always bear it in mind that no matter what happens, you got a business that helps you make a living.

I wonder why someone who's seeking for a job cant have a well composed CV tho.... undecided

As long as no promises of instant employment were made...
As long as you weren't forced to pay for CV building services..

Then it's unfair to call it a scam. Let's encourage these youths to profit from their concepts and sweat. Most of y'all are hating... No matter what, they'll make over 5 million bucks from this exercise (and they've been.making.cool cash prior to the elite quest when the same service was charged at 2,500 naira).... Go hug transformer if you dey vex...

Okay. I think they're doing a great job as well.

But I've subscribed to Acegoals CV writing series because I think the chap is experienced in CV writing and consistent.

HERE'S THE TRUTH!

You cannot learn CV writing in just one article. There are so many things involved. Except you want it for the moment. But if truly you want to be good at CV writing and as well write for people, you need to know each part in detail.

Acegoals treats each part of the CV weekly. Believe me by the time he's done with the series, more than half of his audience should be good CV writers. You can follow Jarus Hub too if you need practical career advice. He's really good with that

Here's the first 3 CV series articles

Apart from the CV thingy, I think more premium services will still spring up. There's one thing the interview said though. The guy said "companies rely on them". Abeg when them start? Which company be that?

Bottom Line:

They are building a HUGE database of candidates' profile
