1. blagdon anti fungi/bacteria or formalin if you cant get blagdon
2. Stock with the treatment (blagdon)
3.juveniles is more advisable. (purchase the juvenile from a reputable hatchery)

yes first get potassium permanganate to treat d pond then secondly leave it for 5 days or six days so that it will kill all d insect and frogs in d pond the third one bro noble farm it's advisable for a fresher to use juveniles type u won't regret it buying juveniles type of species Cos' they resist diseases they are fine when breeding them and in an earthen pond they live well in d pond.it's advisable to start with juvenile specie within 4-5 months time u will be harvesting. then d good part is that make sure u get a good shooter of juveniles that can pick 2-3mm size of feeds .happy fish farming welcome on board.

After fertilisation, u drain the water. Fill again then stock. Juveniles are more preferable to stock in earthen pond.

On a lighter note, how Jamp? noticed his thread has been deleted. I was searching on stocking density of earthen pond on this thread , Then saw his posts in 2013 when he was asking questions on how to stock wit a plastic tank of 2000litres. I then recalled dt he said in his deleted thread that he has over 5years experience.
The guy was targeting big fish like Oga Fhemmy, He didnt need small boys, even to sell his manual. There is nothing ive nt seen on nairaland.

@bro noble I got mine too from Ilorin kwara state last year then I book for 500 pieces it cost around #25 per one Cos' it's a juveniles d place is kwara state fishery dept .d place is located at d back of Tuyil pharmaceutical company in new yidi road I hope u will get it sir even av booked another 1000 pieces when d one am resting is been harvested.happy fish farming bro.

How many liters of water do u need per fish

it depends on the system used in raising them... If u use a flow through system it is 100 to 150 fishes per square metre. Recirculatory is 300 per square metre, earthen pond is 50 per square metre..

I want to use plastic pond that is 2000 liters

it will contain 400 to 500 fishes to maturity comfortably..

I am afraid that even with all the attention and right feeding I have been giving them they are only between 0.65kg and 1.1kg. Does the house think they will give a good yield if used for spawning? @noble, congrats on the near completion of ur pond. It gives us immense Joy knowing people brave up to venture into catfish farming. We practising, experience & successful catfish farmers on this thread would assist the little we can with our priceless advice.
1: We use Lime(CaCO3) for treatement of freshly dugout pond.
2: Duration is 14days, @ d 7th day we apply chicken droppings thou its not necesary if u cant manage it.

if well catered for(preferably at least a year),but u must cross them with larger size fishes from other source(no inbreeding.
