Ikedia didn't have pace? That was his greatest attribute. It was decision making he lacked.

His greatest attribute was his dribbling, not pace. Someone compared him with Tijani Babaginda. How ridiculous! Babaginda was a runner- straight runner. Ikedia was a dribbler- taking his time to cancel his markers one after the other as he moves on. His final balls were a problem.

Ikedia, Etim Esin and Okocha are great dribblers Nigeria have produced. None had the pace of Messi.

elampawa has a slight amnesia.....
look at him saying messi cannot dribble. messi that can kill a marker from a standing position. i remember him destroying scholes in the 2-legged tie in 07/08 near the corner side from a standing position.

You will get better gif of Okocha and Ikedia if it were possible.

Imagine, Scholes was the one marking him. Not even a defender.

The fact that Elampiro stated that Ikedia lacked pace suggests that he never actually saw Ikedia play. Ikedia's 2 greatest "assets" were PACE and STUPIDITY........well documented.

I want to believe you saw Ikedia play only once in your life. I am yet to see a winger who could dribble like Ikedia. Not with speed.

Messi can't dribble?
and ikedia don't have pace?

there's no player in United that dribble the way Messi does, he is miles ahead...

Pius ikedia and tijani plays same style run like a headless chicken with no football intelligence.

What Ikedia is shown doing here with so much ease in training is what he could do with even better flair in matches when he came on board.

Shut up! Stop being brainwashed. Show me where I said Messi can't dribble or Ikedia didnt have some pace. I said Messi had pace more than Ikedia, Okocha and Etim. Today, Messi is one of the fastest footballers in the world. Even Tijani Babangida with all his supposed speed was never considered to be among top footballers with speed not to talk of Ikedia with a normal speed. Ikedia's asset was his dribbling.

You are the ITK. You never saw Ikedia play. Ikedia didn't have the pace of Messi. Even Tijani Babangida couldn't have had the pace of Messi.

Messi is one of the fastest footballers ever.

.......................

He was one time a regular starter in the super eagles set up. the dimunitive winger was a constatnt threat to opposing defenders largely due to his pint size, dribbling skills and pace. our findings can authoritatively reveal that the former Ajax of Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar star is currently at Magusa Turk Gucu fc. the club is in Famagusta, in the Turkich republic of Northern Cyprus. Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 11:56pm On Mar 28, 2015
Tijani was a straight runner. Yes.

But Ikedia was someone 'minusing' his markers one after another along the line on a slow run. He was dribbling zigzagling, stop move. stop and move........ That YOUTUBE clip is a good example of Ikedia's kind of game. His problem was that he was not playing with his mates. Oppositions regroup before he could hit the final pass and he was always not looking up. His eyes were too fixed on the ball.

When IK Uche first came on board, he had a bit of that dribbling flair, but he was never used well to be able to beat more than two defenders at once.

it seems you started watching footie only few years ago. let chelsea fans tell you what messi did to del horno in 2006 at the bridge. cheesy

when it comes to close control, there's no one better than messi & iniesta. they would dribble & still keep the ball while standing on a tin of milk.

Don't let me go into when I started watching football. I saw Maradona did his Mexico '86 magic live. I am sure I saw 60% of Mexico '86 matches because of my uncle and my elder brother who were football enthusiasts and they felt they should carry me along the line as I was showing good skills on the field. I was in primary school though. I saw live the great match between Platini and Rummenige.

Ikedia too had a good close control. Same with Okocha, Etim, and even Kanu. But our people easily fall along the line. They are not self motivated, once they get little money they think they should enjoy life. Also, we don't have the kind of scouts like in South America who see football as a massive business and the raw talent as a great investment that should be guided and groomed generously.

ibime, you remember the potato pitch saga? when mourinho made barca play on pure soil @the bridge just to disturb the flow of barca's passing game? those were the days when CL was CL, abeg.

see as messi disgraced del horno & then made a mince-meat of uncle robben - robben never go bald then. grin it was this night i said to my mates that messi was going to rule the world. he was a thorn in the flesh of chelsea all through.

Without pace, Messi and Hazard wold just be like Pius Ikedia.

Ikedia is a better dribbler than Messi but he didnt have the pace. Okocha and Etin suffered similar fate. They could dribble but they havent the speed to advance directly like Messi. I had one guy in my team called Wale grin. He could dribble a team of 30 players but he had the speed os a snail.

ikedia had no close control.
only few nigerian players had it. elahor, amuneke & ikpeba(in his teenage years) all had mad close control. odegbami was another specialist in keeping the ball in tight corners and dribbling with it.

okocha is largely hit & miss and many of his dribbling was in the centre of the pitch where there's space. the reason wingers are respected is because of their brilliance in keeping the ball close to the touchline(limited space)

Ikedia seeks World Cup place

Wednesday, 10 April, 2002, 13:14 GMT 14:14 UK

Ikedia seeks a place in Nigeria's World Cup team

space
Since his appearance as a substitute in the last World Cup qualifier against Ghana last July, Pius Ikedia has been afflicted by the injury bug.

It cost him a regular first team place at Ajax Amsterdam and the chance to display his skills for Nigeria at the African Nations Cup
.

"I am very happy to be back in the national team after a long absence", said Ikedia, who came on as a late substitute in the March match against Paraguay.

"I might have had just five or six minutes but it was nice to play a role.

"I have a lot to contribute to the national team. I am still young and I have a long way to go".

Impressive past

Along with Julius Aghahowa, Ikedia played for Nigeria's Under-20 team at the 1999 World Youth Championships.

Ikedia's performance on the right wing, outwitting defenders with his repertoire of dribbling skills, earned him a move to the Amsterdam Arena.

"Ajax is a big club and I have had a good time so far," he told BBC Sport Online.

"But there have been some bad moments, when due to my injury, I missed a lot of games."

Ikedia is confident the bad times are over, and is ready to fight for a place in the Super Eagles World Cup squad.

"I have to work hard, keep fit and do well for my club as well as the national team," he said.

"If I can do that, I have a good chance of being in the World Cup team."

he's comparing kick & follow footballers to master dribblers like messi. i have never seen messi tip the ball further than 30cm from his foot when moving with the ball unlike 99% of the professional players out there.

messi is always in control - the only way to get the ball from him is to foul him, you cannot intercept when messi is in control. he often shows the ball to his marker a little bit to make him think the ball can get be gotten but na lie -

I know what you are saying, but he doesn't always dribble like that. He mostly run with the ball that way. Sometimes he runs with it across the 18 box and firing in from afar. Aguero has something close to that.

It's painful there are no clips of Ikedia dribbles out there.

Ikedia would stand with you. He dances left and right and the defender is confused then slides to stop Ikedia, Ikedia hops with the ball past him and then the next defender. Ikedia moves the ball to the left, the defender waves, Ikedia swerve his body to right, then left, the defender is completely deceived to the left. Off, Ikedia is gone with the ball to the right and it's bye bye to the defenders. At short notice and in a few second he has gone past two in a small space area. No pace or gidigidi whatsoever in dribbling past his markers. No too much drama. He was born to dribble with the slightest of ease and natural skills. It's unfortunate injury and luck were against him.

He was nothing like Tijani Babangida. Them no near. Only IK Uche showed some signs of Ikedia's kind of dribblings.

Many here are kids. Ibeme and Odun Harry.

At the bolded. Ikedia did that with ease too. He moves his body left and right without touching the ball, the defender cancels himself. Ikedia stands with the ball on the touch line (throwing line), a defender is in front of him in the touch line. Ikedia moves his body and the defender moves infield and Ikedia is going past him on the same touch line. It was like magic. How he did it was a mystery.

See you Nani marking of Messi. Nani is a poor marker. This was why SAF said after 2011 UCL final that when United face Barca again, he would put Jones in the defensive midfield or even defence to charge Messi directly.
