Inasmuch as u think you have made some sense, with all the likes and shares you have gathered. I feel ashamed that this is your thought. My friend, the voter is equally a stakeholder in the election. The individual was very correct to demand to see the eventual result, because as per experience, a result sheet is to be posted on the wall of the polling unit at the end of a voting excercise, for all to see. My guess is that was not done, hence the insistence of the youth to see the result. If the security agent had felt the youth posed a threat, why not arrest him or use other method to restrain him than taking his life. On completion of an election, result sheets signed by all parties is distributed to all party agents, accredited observers, security, and a bolded copy is posted on the wall for the consumption of the electorate or passersby. |

A LEO is always authorized to use the level of force necessary to number one: defend himself and number two: protect life and property. IMHO the LEO did both perfectly. That the LEO just upped and shot single person in a sea of people shows that he was controlled and of purposeful mind. He did an outstanding job and I am proud of his conduct. 3) This occurrence is totally commendable. You don't want to risk getting shot then conduct yourself like the people that didn't get shot. 4) There is nowhere in the report that the youth didn't attack the policeman. I do not trust Nigerian journalism as far as I can throw them. 5) LEOs all over the world routinely terminate a threat by lethal force. Not all situations opportune themselves to a judicial review. RIP to the young man but I guess we all heard when the IG of police reiterated on Wednesday that there should be no loitering after voting. Everyone should go home after casting their vote. From the story, it is clear the guy was neither an INEC staff nor a party representative. It should be a lesson for others. This is the first situation this year, where I feel that the police-man who gunned the dude down deserves a medal ....

Feel free to go to any polling booth and insist on enforcing any 'right' which is different from casting your vote. .. You will not be differentiated fron the political thug who aims to truncate the democratic process... And the security agencies have their orders...
