Afrodoc has finished himself with that clip. See Ikedia dancing his markers off his path. No single pace involved. See close control. Ayagayagayagayo hei, ayagayagayagayo. Argument is over. |

lmao!!!!!! I knew you would mention that. Are we talking of Ikedia at 24 or at 34? That video was of Ikedia playing amateur football in his mid 30s (official age) and you want him to still have the speed of his younger years? What kind of logic is that? Why not post a video of Ronaldo da Lima at 34 or Giggs at 38 to show they never had pace? How fast is Ronaldinho at this moment? or Adokie Amiesimaka? 3 Likes |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 7:49pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
You argue in a very very funny and basic manner. Ikedia had pace and i earlier said he could dribble unlike Tijani. My difference with you is that you said it was pace that stopped him being great. Then later you changed mouth that it was devil injury. The truth is that Ikedia lacked intelligence on the pitch, that is what killed him.....he never utilized the ball effectively despite all his moves. |

afrodoc2: Secondary school players do Mercenary na. You no play ball? Footballers develop faster. Sylvanus Ebiaku, Karimu Shuaibu and some other guys were leaving school to travel to represent teams which hired players. Ebiaku was already travelling when he was in JSS 3 or so. He is built like a boxer (a Phil Jones kind of power player), that you would think he was 5 years older than his age.But I was his senior. These guys took all the risk and we thought they were senseless then. They werent the most skillful, may be the most determined and those whose parents gave them all the freedom. Also they were motivated with the fact that many Auchi players were beginning to break into top clubs in Nigeria- like Alex Jebba who played with Gabros and later won the FA cup with Begers (injury plague him too and eneded his career prematurely) . The Ebiaku guy did his appendicitis and in a few days he was already playing and we were shouting if he wanted to kill himself. Ebiaku played for Keshi's Flying Eagles with his real age. I think that slowed his career. He was again invited when Keshi took over Eagles but he couldnt make it into the final squad for preparation for AFCON 2013. Except you are sure or know someone very well, don't guess his age. |

elampiro: Ikedia was playing mercenary for his secondary school after leaving school |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:16pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
afrodoc2: Tijani never was able to play that way wether at 20 or 25 or 30 or 35 or 40 0r 45. If Ikedia didnt have the skills, you would see him trying to run and outpace his marker. You dont develop skills at old age. Anything you couldn't get in your teenage years- forget it. |

afrodoc2: And your clip showed Ikedia exhibiting skills at old age. e dey body. |

elampiro: Did anyone argue with you that Ikedia had no skill? I earlier corrected someone who compared Ikedia to Tijani....i said Ikedia could dribble but Tijani was a sprinter. Its obvious Ikedia is one of your favourite players like Rooney but sorry bros your man lacked sense. he could run, he could dribble but he couldnt make right decisions on the pitch. AND HE HIMSELF IN A VIDEO SENT PERSONALLY TO YOU SAID HE WAS KNOWN FOR HIS PACE .......A PACE HE KEPT UNTIL HIS 34TH BIRTHDAY |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:26pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
elampiro: I agree with you. while Ikedia got pace and dribbling in his teenage years he did not get sense.......and that is what doomed his football career. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:29pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
afrodoc2: Injury doomed him, just like Eduardo. May be na home problem sef - as they used to say in Naija. Edurance Idahor died on the field when things were getting brighter and brighter. End of argument. It's usually not good to argue too much when we are into a match week. Bye! |

afrodoc2: My favourites have been such guys like Keshi, Nwosu, Finidi, Amokachie, Sunday Oliseh, Kanu Nwankwo, Babayaro, Okechukwu, . Recently, Enyeama Victor Moses. Some more I may have forgotten to mention. Ikedia didnt have the opportunity to advance his skills and unique football. |

elampiro:Loool e be like say na him height dey deceive you! Young ko Ashley ni. Ninja please stop chatting that megedefegede dude was merely a midget and a monumental flash in the pan. Woeful delivery, zero Football IQ and all round poor decision maker with no end product whatsoever elampiro: Ikedia was definitely quicker than Finidi. During Finidi's heyday speed was not an essential commodity for players on the flank Ikedia had speed which he relied on heavily to dribble which is why when the injuries piled he became useless because he had no other outstanding ability |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:56pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
A40: Finid didnt have speed? Ukwu!!! Finidi out paced his markers uncountable times, went behind the defence to deliver a tap in for Yekini or other forwards. Ikedia is the only Nigeria winger I can remember who never relied on speed to get past his markers. He used mostly his body swerves to get his markers off his way. Elahor relied on team work. Finidi needed to run down the line to deliver a cross. Amuneke was pace and power with scoring ability. Tijani was a diminutive jet. Ikedia is the best dribbler Nigeria ever produced. The only one who I could remember that would have a man directly in his front and he takes him away in a second with body swerves. He didnt mind how many men were line up ahead of him, he was ready to go. A40: Just tell me you didnt know him jor. Injury, kill players irrespective of whether they have speed or not. Just look like Falcao who destroyed Chelsea's defence before. Eduardo of Arsenal. The clips and articles provided here so far have shown Ikedia relied 90% on his dribbling. I am yet to see where he did straight line speeding runs like Tijani/Finidi/Amuneke. |

Mats Hummels has refused to rule out a move to Manchester United after admitting that he would like a move to play abroad. In an interview with Kicker he responded to questions over Louis van Gaal's interest by revealing that he is open to quitting the Bundesliga for a new challenge. The World Cup winner has now conceded that trying his hand in a new league is a priority for his development as a footballer. Asked about the wooing of foreign clubs like Manchester United Hummels said: "Often I think that, one day, I want to play abroad but there are also days when I say I don't need that. But I think the experience abroad is good for the development of a player. "I have made no decision. I am not the sort of guy who talks about staying at the club when they've already decided to leave. "Everyone knows how much I like to play for Dortmund but I also want to play with a powerful team and a powerful approach. "Whether or not we are playing in the Europa League has no influence on my decision." [Source: Kicker.de] |
