Attahiru Jega
Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Attahiru Jega speaks at a news conference in Nigeria's capital Abuja. Reuters
With just three states left to count, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan is trailing behind opposition challenger Muhammadu Buhari by three million votes in the presidential race, according to a Reuters tally of election results. Jonathan of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PCP) had won 11 million votes, while Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) opposition party had won 14 million votes out from the 36 states counted so far on Tuesday.

But as Nigerians anxiously awaited the rest of the results at the International Conference Center in Abuja on Tuesday, officials of Jonathan’s PCP disrupted the collation meeting and petitioned the results being declared by Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Peter Godsday Orubebe, a PCP collation agent and former Niger Delta minister, grabbed the microphone at the podium and accused INEC chairman Attahiru Jega of bias. Orubebe said he would not allow the collation of results to continue until Jega and other election officials return to their offices and “address PDP complaints,” the Premium Times in Nigeria reported.

“We have raised issues about results in Kano, in Kaduna, Jigawa and Katsina and yet you have done nothing about it. You are biased. You are partial. You are tribalistic,” Orubebe said to Jega at the collation center, according to the Daily Post in Nigeria. “We don’t believe in you anymore. You are compromised. And we won’t take it from you.”

After 30 minutes of heated exchange, Orubebe was led away from the podium. Jega dismissed the allegations and resumed announcing results from various states. “I reject the so-called petition because it was brought to me while I was at the hall presenting [poll] results,” he said, according to state-run Anadolu Agency in Turkey. “It is improper for any party agent to do so. For that reason, I do not take it, because other party agents and the media could be watching.”

In order to win the presidency, a candidate must garner more than 50 percent of all valid votes and at least 25 percent of the vote in two-thirds of Nigeria’s 36 states. If no candidate wins by this measure, Nigeria will hold a runoff election seven days later. Political parties have 30 days from the election to legally challenge final poll results.

Orubebe now speaking to Journalists on Channels Tv.

In his words 'Its sad that Jega allowed us to degenerate to this level'

But the last time I checked, Jega didn't degenerate to any level with him.

This man should just hide his head in shame.

For all the noise he makes, he is not a political organizer at all.
He has been in power for 8 years yet Wike uses him to clean the floor.
Look at Okorocha who still has a second term election to fight, yet he gave PDP a good fight and went down blazing.
Amaechi needs to be humble enough to learn some lessons.
I disagree. Wike only uses federal might through the presidency and PEJ to oppressed and intimidate Amaechi. I am a living witness, what happened in Rivers on the 28th is far from the minimum standard of election. The magnitude of election rigging in Rivers state on the 28th is unprecedented in the history of this country. But I pity them, by the time APC take over power, Wike and his cohort will never have peace. Is my hope Amaechi forgive and forget.

This statement is where you shot your self in the foot. Inferring to the population of Kano is simply being childish. Do you genuinely know the population of Kano? Or you are telling us simply imaginary figures. Go and listen to the chairman of the population census that was conducted last. And two wealth is not about your population. Bill gate is not the oldest, the most educated man in the whole world but the richest. Think again if you really love Nigeria. If Jonathan did not win, I pray we still remain as a country in the next 2 years. That will be difficult. Go and bring all the US Marines and UK special forces to Nigeria. They will never win the battle in the creeks. Lets us be careful.
ogbeni, go siddon jare. So u mean if Jona no win, war go dey abi? During d 2011 election, we voted for him wholeheartedly, but he fall our hands seriously. D meaning of all d panya u dey yan be say if niger delta man no rule naija, we no go knw peace abi? Abegii go sleep jo.

1... The man kept clowning around.

2.. Jega had to tell him like a million times not to read from a piece of paper the Prof alleged he personally typed under special conditions(Only God knows what the means)

3. The man seems to be related to Cyclops of X-men cos they both need a special kind of light to see. Can you imagine?

4. Even when another person was called to help him read, he kept interrupting. Jega had to call him to order again.

The man no too bad sha, all he needs is a pair of glasses that can zoom objects at the microscopic level and he ll be just fine.

You can say this because it has been allowed a close race thus far. How did APC get +100k votes in "stronghold" SE Imo State? wait till the next elections and confirm for yourself.

Note that there's no 100% fair elections anywhere on Planet Earth.
imo is APC state... Same way pdp won ekiti in SW "APC stronghold. Stronghold has nothing to do with region but state in particular.
