YDP May Seek Poll Cancellation In Court by acesoul(m): 1:51am On Mar 31, 2015 |
The Young Democratic Party on Monday said it would proceed to court to seek the cancellation of the 2015 elections, following its exclusion from the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission as excuse. The party specifically said that the action fell short of the Electoral Act. A statement issued in Abuja by the National leader of YDP, Henry Nwabueze, said the Prof. Attahiru Jega-led commission deliberately refused to include the party in the ballot even when it was clear that YDP had fulfilled the requirements having been proclaimed a political party. He said, “In compliance with the law, YDP submitted the list of its candidates to INEC for this 2015 general elections. Today, the Young Democratic Party regret to inform Nigerians that INEC has failed because it unlawfully refused to include YDP in the 2015 general election ballot paper.“By this, INEC is practising democracy of the few, by the few and for the few. Accordingly, YDP calls on INEC to cancel the just-concluded March 28, 2015 Presidential and National Assembly elections and refrain from announcing the results, including the names of the winners or losers in that election.“Indeed, by virtue of the Electoral Act, Section 78, sub-section 4, YDP became a registered political party in Nigeria as of May 2, 2014. Although INEC is fully aware of this fact and in spite of numerous notifications, it nevertheless proceeded, against common sense and reason to exclude YDP in this 2015 general election.“This action of INEC is deliberate, violative of the Electoral Act, violative of the constitution and quite frankly, offensive to all notions of fair play and justice. In view of the unlawful exclusion of YDP, a lawfully registered political party in violation of the Electoral Act and a subsisting Federal HighCourt judgement, the leadership of YDP and its National Executive Council has resolved to proceed to court to seekfor cancellation of the March 28 presidential election and conduct of fresh polls to include YDP.” www.naijatell..com/2015/03/ydp-may-seek-poll-cancellation-in-court.html |

ejiro2130: The judge who gave the ruling they're trying to twist has even threatened to jail them for misrepresentation and contempt. I think this blog is just trying to draw traffic. They can't dare ask for any more judicial favours 1 Like |

agabaI23: Imagine rivers with all that blood, death and violence having 75% turnout?? I throway salute for you and wike o How about the 1.4m from rivers where gun shots started since Friday plus killings (not forgeting the prof that suddenly couldnt read what he himself claimed to have written) and the 1.2million from delta that no one heard a thing about until the man appeared On US, UK and economic interests, suffice to say that since we're addicted to help from them, they'll always pokenose into our affairs and a weak leader will not be able to tell them to buzz off. Also they don't care if the devil rules Nigeria as long as misgovernance doesn't create 170million refugees for the world to manage. GMB has dared the UK before.....jona will never be able to even if u give him 100 terms as president |

theV0ice:You are not being fare to Jona The reason UK, US and the West is against Jona is because he is strangling their source of income 1. He refused just in 2014 to sign the EU-Africa trade treaty. He also led the other West Africa states to do so. If we are being sincere to ourselves you will know that this runs against the desires of the west 2. Do you know about the EU's raw material initiative? GEJ signed local content bill into law and is pushing to sign the PIB which has been watered down to law but the house has refused to sign it. You are in O&G and you can tell me what that means. Shell and Chevron if they have their way will never allow the PIB, the reason the initial version has been watered down several times. Who is losing? the masses 3. I will pm you reply and I will send you two documents that defined my position. I am supporting GEJ based on some of this knowledge. I wish Nigeria best. If GMB does well and better, Nigeria is the winner and I am happy because that is what we want. To be honest I wish him well because wish Nigeria well. I think its time to go get PDP card which I did not have before now. |
