Yes, it is highly commendable and statemanly for the sitting president to extend congratulatory message to the president elect especially in a growing democracy like ours.

But, after considering the hawkish actions of the sycophants surrounding the president during the journey to this day, I will only take this congratulatory messages hook, line and sinker only on May 29 when he actually hands over.

The threat of military takeover, the threats of cessation and the final show of shame today by Oru-woreva with the eyes of the world centred on Nigeria call for serious concerns and vigilance over the coming months to May 29.

Though, the president might mean well, we must defend our democracy to the very end...notwithstanding the desperate actions of few political thugs who are not willing to accept defeat.

The arrogance of some ApC folks is becoming nauseating. In 2011, GEJ won GMB by over 18 million votes and GMB refused to accept defeat. Many people were killed in the violence that ensued thereafter.

In 2015,GMB wins GEJ with less than 3 million votes and GEJ concedes defeat as an incubent president.

Yet some say GEJ did that to play to the gallery because he didn't have a choice.

Nigeria has just dodged the bullet.

If GEJ had not been so magnanimous the ensuing dispute over rigging, child voters will lead from the courts to a military coup which Nigeria may not have survived.

Many countries and their arms dealers have already started consultations on how to swap arms for oil to get the show started.

God bless GEJ, but he should have protested the massive fake results from Kano and kaduna in particular.

Mr. President you are a complete gentleman and a true democrat, we understood the challenges you were faced with and your inability to take a delicate decision due to your nature as a gentleman.

you believed so much in loyalty and you like to reward it handsomely even at your own detriment.

we will not forget the good thing you have done for us and posterity will judge your shortcomings..

Goodluck to you in your future endeavors.

We have learnt how not to please people that will never appreciate our efforts.

You have written your name in the book of history for averting another bloodshed cos if you had won, am sure the north must have start killing innocent citizens...
In my opinion you are simply instigating hatred and violence for this statement.

Did GEJ had other choice but to concede defeat and move on?.

He lost and stepped down. Very simple

GEJ was a good man surrounded by idiots who have no respect for humanity. This is a food for thought to everyone and especially upcoming politicians. As for GMB, be careful with the wolves in sheperd's skin surrounding you. Hopefully you will not be disgraced out of office because of under performance. Nigerians have become wiser and powerful. Goodluck GMB, its your turn.

He gave us a credible election, allowed freedom of speech to the core, he was honestly clueless although if he knew better he would have done better.

Acted presidential for few weeks out of 6yrs. Honestly think if he did this earlier, Buhari won't even have a chance.

Congratulating Buhari is appluadable. Well done sir, I hope you have learnt from this.

Last note: Buhari should better perform or be prepared to go to his own hometown too.

Making the call after he was woefully defeated isn't a gentlemanly act as he did it cos there was no other option. This doesn't change the fact he is the most corrupt and clueless president. He and his goons must pay for all they did, a phone call isn't enough to balance the destruction he did to this great country.

The only credible thing GEJ did in his political career as president he did at the end ie 'set the platform for change'

He lost the biggest opportunity in his life to go beyond this.
In a nutshell he benefited no one but the cabals backing him, who hiding behind him who cleverly hid their looting tracks so they could blame it all including this election failure on GEJ. He was the archetypal figure head and a failure on many fronts whether it was corruption, the economy or security or simply strong leadership.

GEJ did create opportunity but only for the lootocrats, he created more millionaires than any other president did. Indeed PDP became the personal development party for those with the right connections. But all this came at a price, for every billionaire he created he pushed 1 million Nigerians below the poverty line

The people have spoken, many will indeed be happy to see him go, including his PDP paymasters as he was nothing short of an embarrassment.

Hopefully PDP can pick up from the ruins and provide what Nigeria needs, a strong and credible opposition

What a sad ending
It is never a sad ending! He is the only hero in this election, the man who said yes when it matters most. It takes a hero's heart to concede defeat in order to save life. Unlike what happened in 2011 people lost their lives and properties because a man lost an election. Meanwhile, how well or bad he performed will be defined by the incoming government but I see no significant changes coming because the same looters are around and Buhari cannot escape their gimmicks.
