Alpha Beta of course! That always come to the fore, Tinubu must have a third of Nigerian states in his pockets undecided

http://www.alpha-beta.net/clients.htm

Yes, just goes to show you all about Tinubu and the power of greed...!! Most of the 14 state governments in that list, are run by governors that are in Tinubu's kitchen cabinet. It would be interesting to know if due diligence and proper procurement process & guidelines were followed in the selection of Alpha Beta as consultants, in each of their respective states! shocked

Abuja Environmental Protection Board eventually suspended Alpha Beta from working for them due to their poor performance.

Am waiting for the outcome of the court case when the real owners of Alpha Beta will be revealed. undecided By the way, how much did Alpha Beta itself, pay as tax after collecting those jobs? Can anybody guess?

Half of those they claim as clients, are incorrect. Ask those who have actually worked in tax offices of those listed states.

Now what you described there is an astute politician and nothing more.
When u talk about Awolowo, there are paths he had tread that Tinubu can never ply.
What Awolowo is remembered for today is not political style, but his achievements and impact on individual and collective Yorubas.

You have a point. I was not looking at democracy dividends. Remember I described him as a architect and a design. An architect never builds a house rather he designs the house because he conceptualises and implements his design.

Read the political ambition of awolowo probably you would understand. I will only pity the Yoruba race if they do not understand and appreciate the man.

Awo picked Yoruba from the backside of African sluggishness and without precedence built the most advanced black man made region in Africa. No one can match Awo's pedigree yet but Tinubu is exceptionally brilliant.Awo was a socialist, one of the reasons for conspiracy against him but Tinubu is a capitalist.

Don't mind these clowns. This is what happens when you let outsiders define greatness to you, and the bane of the new generation of Yorubas. Rather than qualify the "greatness" in context, and make it a subjective one - by alluding to political greatness. They just threw "greatness" in the air, and are postulating nonsense to defend the blasphemous tripe.

The man hasn't even done anything of note for the Yorubas. And without Awolowo, those talking wouldn't even be educated today. Their parents would've ended up as farmers. grin

I abhor folks who are vacuous when it comes to history, and those who tend to ride in the moment. undecided

Great politician, regardless - and Yorubas need to rally round him. But he's too greedy to be Awolowo.

Bring ya ar.se to the other thread.

Thank you ...help me tell them! angry

Can you imagine....comparing Awolowo to this - whatever his name is??!! Yuk..!

Greed eventually has a way of luring the unwary to their downfall. We will see how it deals with Tinubu in the end.

I don't know about this because he may not become a president of this country but will continue to make the Yoruba race relevant. Political leaders will no longer ignore the wishes of the Yoruba people and they know if they want to win the south west, jagaban is the man to meet. That is the mistake the Igbo people are making busy selling their conscience for a pot of gold.

Likewise I will keep insisting that he is greater than awolowo. Like it or not, he is the new face and leader of the Yoruba people; appreciate the man and make him more relevant.

He is not greater than Awolowo, infact, he should not be in the same sentence as the man. He is a good politician who can rally people around him, he is a very strategic and tactical, but, what Awolowo achieved in the 50s is just too much, his thoughts on governance and the foresight that Awo had on economy, commerce and law can not be matched by Tinubu.

all i will say is - it is people like Jagaban who win wars

in a space of 16 months he brought together a coalition that took on the pdp behemoth.

he took on a party that ruled for 16 years and had federal might and reserves behind it

he slowly and surely consolidated- from lagos state to the south west to nigeria

say what you will of him - he is the man

as to his faults, politics is war - and you must become monster to fight monsters. where would Jagaban get the money for ac, acn apc's war chest? you need resources to win wars. and you cannot be a good guy and expect to win when taking on a nest of killers. Buhari's last three attempts should have made that clear to any of us.

almost reminds me of commander Shepard in the final chapter of mass effect - he brought togehther races some with blood feuds to face a common enemy

Madam, I am sure you can read. I said "Most"! Or didn't you see that there? Does the word "Most" mean the same thing as "All"? No one said it is fake. But there was no due diligence carried out before this company was selected. The selection was based on nepotism and crony-ism, if such a word exists because those governors were part of Tinubu's kitchen cabinet and signed on Alpha beta just to please him.

The Governor of Nassarawa is an APC guy, so what are you talking about? Only Abia, Imo, Enugu Akwa Ibom are not APC dominated states. So what is your beef? These are just about 4 out of 14 states, oh!

You are talking about a state government suing a company for claiming that it is one of their clients. How many governments have that time & energy to go after such petty claims? In Nigeria? Please don't make me laugh!! shocked shocked

Only you have evidence to confirm that what was stated in my previous post is inaccurate, please take a chill pill and do not argue blindly except if you are a shareholder of Alpha Beta. Maybe, then you can tell us how much your so-called consultants paid as tax to FIRS as well as in all the states where they won contracts.

Are you sure about that? Fani Power, Adedibu, Meredith Adisa Akinloye, Richard Akinjide, Omoboriowo...............were these not politicians from from those era and those are the ones I can remember now. SW Nigeria have always played their politics differently, abi when was operation wetie again or those pesky Ondo folks that went on a burning rampage did that when?

The politics have always been the same, just because some of our past leaders did not con on does not mean there's been changes.

Nigeria of Awo's years is different from that of Tinubu. When Awo was the leading light, it made no sense to align with the North. There was true federalism, each region was strong and the West was the most buoyant not just economically but also intellectually. Ibadan was the indisputable intellectual capital of the country. Feudalism in the north was at its most virulent concentrated form. Besides, we were operating parliamentary system as against the present presidential one. In such a system, a vote of no confidence could easily bring down any government. So it wouldn't make any rational sense for Awo to subsume the West under the North. Infact, it would amount to self defeat doing just that.

NIGERIA HAS CHANGED. Nigeria is no longer a federal republic, it's a unitary state. The North is no longer the illiterate North. Only elements of feudalism remains and the economic map of the country has been redrawn. Whosoever dominates the center now dominates all. There are no strong regions anymore etc.

In today's Nigeria, it would take an eternal fool not to realize that the realities of 1999 constitution make it imperative to work with the North except you can plan a coup to write another constitution. The West is too enlighten, too pluralistic in terms of opinions to deliver a block vote. Many won't even bother to vote. So if we don't align with the North, we will just be fine because we are good in opposition politics but won't hit our target. Our best bet is to work with what works, work with the north and then gradually reform Nigeria to what suits our model: regionalism, either directly or indirectly. On this score, Tinubu is right on the money. So let me just stop at that level of what has changed.

One thing I appreciate about him is the ability to raise leaders.
It is a known fact that you haven't succeeded as a leader until you have a successful successor.
Tinubu has been able to provide several of such, and is now able to translate it into supporting a credible man in the person of Buhari to win the power at the center.

I recall him response to Tom Ikimi when he left the APC because he didn't emerge as the party Chairman, he said " I have been known to chose people who are credible and who can look and take a stance against we politicians". I salute him for this.

According to facts on the ground and investigative media reports which have not been denied by Tinubu, himself.

I have been to Ibeju-Lekki myself several times, and seen the large expanse of land your Jagaban took from the original owners of the land, actively aided by the state government that paid no compensation to them.

When Abiola built alliances and won, the election was canceled. We were in NADECO, also in opposition.

When OBJ was imposed on the country, we found ourselves both in power (nominally) but essentially in opposition (Alliance for Democracy).
When PDP rigged SW, it was Tinubu that built ACN, the most organised opposition political party
It was Tinubu that engineered the alliance that crystallized into APC.

Where is Orji kalu's PPA?
Where is APGA and peter Obi that used to be the face of APGA?

The real challenge now is the East has never really played a traditional opposition role. Will they rise up to the occasion and provide a vibrant opposition? can they reform PDP ? Let wait and see.

As to those comparing Awolowo to Tinubu, both sides have a point, but we must remember, when great people are demised, their value tends to increase, Awolowo was also maligned and hated by some segments of Yorubas during his era, and they even conspired against him, he also acquired a lot wealth more than his contemporaries like the Balewas, Azikwes, e.t.c

The guy who made the initial statement is "Igbo" - so he won't really understand and he deserves a pass for that. That's like telling a Yoruba/Igbo to quantify the greatness of Ahmadu Bello (very brilliant man).

There are just certain people, whose greatness are untouchable, due to eras - and comparing folks to them would be blasphemous. For all Awo's imperfections - no Yoruba, dead or alive - will ever surpass his greatness. That era is gone forever, and what he achieved was unprecedented, and will never be equaled.

Apart from politics - the Tinubu man hasn't really done anything. I salute his political astuteness and sagacity. However, he's no Awolowo in other aspects.

Now, I hope you know that Alpha Beta did not collect tax on behalf of the Government, what they did was help identify those evading tax and bringing them to compliance, the state Government was the one collecting the taxes and I can authoritatively tell you that LASG used to owe ABC a lot, Tinubu might have stolen from Lagos state but it was not via Alpha Beta. Please also note that Okonjo paid debts and paid consultants a high percentage, Alpha Beta helped increase revenue, should they not be compensated?
