On Tuesday, the opposition leader General Muhammadu Buhari was elected president of Nigeria. Many across northern Nigeria, especially in Daura his birthplace, have been celebrating ever since.

The BBC’s reporter Abdullahi Kaura Abubakar visited the very house where General Buhari was born. Here are photos from the video the news site released and they truly reflect Buhari’s humble beginnings. The video reveals that his relatives still live there and Gen Buhari’s sister, Rakiya Amadodo Muhammadu, is excited and elated that her brother has been elected president of Nigeria. If my president can make it, who says you cant ?
Haven't had the opportunity for a while now to say a big thank you to everyone who made the APC and Buhari's victory a reality.
I say a big thank you to you all as we hope for a better Nigeria.

God bless you,
God bless Buhari.
God bless the federal republic.

And thank God he grew up with shoes
His legacy is his determination, commitment, and strong resolution
and not some flimsy fantasy jargons like "i grew up with no shoes"

Up till today he still lives a modest life, even after being a Governor, Petroleum Minister, President, & PTF Chairman.

With such incorruptible disposition, the General will lead by example.

please!! Enough is enough of all forms of hate speeches here on Nairaland platform ,celebrate Buhari and respect the person of the president. Nigerians are the winners here and not the APC. THE PEACE EXPERIENCE NOW is because the rulling party want peace that is also worthy of celebration. I think we should be thinking of helping the President elect out here by becoming a patriotic Nigerians rather than fighting e-war and ethnic tribalism! ENOUGH PLEASE!!!!!!

Thanks
