byteem:I think I like this post...I so hate the militants...they fought for nothing but their pockets..the real niger delta youths should not be decieved by the likes of asari...they never fought for the general ijaw man..they fought to enrich themselves...they have the best houses home and abroad, they drive the best cars...they are fools for all I know and should be arrested...the niger delta fight can be presented in a diplomatic manner so that we move on...since we dont have self sacrificing leaders like ken sarowiwa of old days, then we should fight in an organized way and not be represented by self serving idiots... |

winnieG1:I agree we need to strengthen our democracy but the issue goes beyond "opposition" parties. The issue s that there are regional or ethnic interests and it is difficult to see how this can be resolved within a party. If you observed the National Conference, disagreements were along regional rather than party lines and so this demonstrates that the "enterprise" of political parties is not politics but power brokerage. Goodluck Jonathan has been in power for 5 years .I have no doubt in my mind he would have found politicians in the North who would agree to a change in derivation from 13 to 25% if he would guarantee them to use incumbency to secure the presidency for them. The fis He did NOTHING for the Niger Delta whilst enriching Militants. Has gas flaring stopped? Has Ogoni land been cleaned up? I could go on and on. As far as those issues are concerned I do not expect anything from Buhari but we must remember that our interests do not coincide and often are in conflict. Then what we need is leaders who understand the issues and are prepared to resolved them. What we have is unnecessary competition ,rivalry and triumphalism and under those circumstances no matter how we grow it will always be easy for major external forces to cause trouble and even war in our country. I would advocate that Persons may not change political parties and individuals should not fund them. |

Neplusultra: My friend, nobody is asking for war but Igbos is asking for one with their attitude towards others. Why are we shying away from the truth simply cos it's our tribe or friend. Let's speak against evil either as individual, group of people or nation. It ll save a lot of souls at the end of the day. If someone has spoken against the attitude of Igbos in the North before the pogrom, souls would have been saved. I am only alerting the new generation of Igbos to stop making more enemies than friends. Let's be practical and sincere here, what is the only thing that is working against Igbo presidential candidature? Enmity of course. Ijaw only became your friend as a result of their agitation for Jonathan presidency continuity which Igbo seized as an opportunity to show their hatred towards their hosts across the country. Guess what my friend, in life, if u have a friend who gossip or do evil thing to people and you choose to keep quiet cos he is your friend, trust me, your day is coming too. Permit me to cite Libya and South Sudan as a case study here, the latter relationship with US was not base on their love for each other but solely against their perceived enemy who was Gaddafi. Pls, can you see what is happening btw the Libyans and US after getting rid of Gaddafi? Enmity I presumed. South Sudan tribes came together too to fight their perceived enemy which was the North but look at them today, they have done more evil to one another than what their former perceived enemy has ever done to them.......... The friendship btw you and Ijaw is temporarily based on what is on ground today not cos they love u as Igbos. If war break out today in Nigeria, there ll be nothing like Niger-deltans my friend cos there are different ethnic group in Niger delta, and Historically they are cousin to South west and have relationship with the North. Please read Nigeria history not as Igbo man but a foreigner and come back here to tell me how you sincerely feel as unbiased human being. 1 Like |

Nna who and who are the igbo that asari thinks will fight with him, as ive always said on this issue they should leave we the igbos alone in whatever stupid fight because when the time comes its we that would be slaughtered like rams all over the country...Asari can return to the creeks and bomb wherever he wants but he should make sure he keeps screaming it that its Niger delta alone that is doing the bombing ans stop mentioning the south-east...udo |

Neplusultra: My friend, it's foolishness at your own part to think you are turning something in your favour over 50years without anything to show for it politically; what that tells you is to do things differently to achieve your desired result; alliance with the Northerners just like 63 and 79 or Westerners but that I doubt It's foolishness that would make you think that Igbos would be able to become anything politically without Northerners' votes. The only way Igbos can tell the Northerners to go to hell is to form alliance with the South Westerners which I doubt cos of their conscience. You guys are smart I believed but due to your failed arrogance....... 1 Like |

omonnakoda: Good observation but do you think PDP will just die like that, they will be a fierce opposition. and a standard is being raised. if APC fail to perform, you will see another coalition, defection as a result of some gullible in APC. Nigeria Politics will be very interesting from now on. Anambra State is a good example where PDP was booted out and left APGA with no choice but to perform if they must stay in power. Many things had already changed in Anambra now, u can never see any dilapidated government school in the state. every public school given Educational materials, Computer labs with internet connectivity, Brand new school bus to facilitate the school administration, the management of Public schools handed back to missionaries while government provide the funding, now you wonder why they had in the past 4 years always take 1st position in WAEC, JAMB, and other exams organised in Nigeria. they owe no public worker any salary, while others are clamoring for minimum wage, the state is increasing the salaries of public servants by 15%. while SS are killing themselves about crude oil., Anambra state explored their own oil, form their own company (Orient Petroleum - with the state and all the local government and some few individuals having a stake in the company). they are also building their refinery and cargo airport to lift their crude oil and its product outside Nigeria). other sector have been revived, Now tell me how this state will fall into debt. That is what competition has brought and we are loving it. EVEN THE SO CALLED NORTHERN BROTHERS WILL sabotage him if he fall to perform or if he refuse to yield to their corrupt agenda. 1 Like |

xreal: That's a nice write up thou.. The person i got pity for most right now is Jimi Agbaje cuz he's so on his own, all money spent is actually wasted cuz during his campaign he said Lagos should vote for the PDP in order to enjoy the presence of the FG in Lagos, now they aint in power no more, that's the end of his ambition, moreover his godfather is going on exile already and Koro will surely be looking for a way to either decamp or run out of the country cuz of his involvement in the #ekitigate saga, JK aint Just Kidding anymore His now a goner like GEJ JUST CHECKING MY MEMORY CARD *Buhari will die before the Election - Ayo Fayose *Buhari is brain dead - Mama Peace *If APC survives till October 2014, call me a bastard.- Doyin Okupe *Mark my words, It will not happen for Buhari to rule Nigeria. - Doyin Okupe. *If APC wins, I will go on exile. - Bode George. *Buhari can never win in Yorubaland. - Gani Adams. *Jonathan will shock APC with defeat. - FFK *If Jonathan loses, we would set Nigeria on fire. - Asari Dokubo. *We instigated the 6 weeks postponement so that Jonathan can win. - Fasehun *I will deliver 1 million votes to Jonathan in Ondo state. - Mimiko *We shall deliver the South West votes to Jonathan. - Afenifere *Tinubu is no longer a force in the South West. - Yinka Odumakin. *Buhari at 70 wears diapers like my mother. - Fayose *Jonathan already has Lagos votes. - Musiliu.. winnieG1:I see the PDP collapsing because it is a party based on exploiting the power of incumbency at the centre,at least with the current actors There are no real leaders in PDP. I think it is important to distinguish a person who has followers because of money and a natural leader such as Buhari or Aminu Kano ,men with no money. In the PDP we have characters like Akpabio, Fani Kayode etc who lack credibility. From an ethnic perspective let us name the top 3 figures from the SW SE NE NW NC or SS in PDP. There is no credible leader in the PDP from the SW. The PDP was not willing to address the real political issues in Nigeria which are structure, federalism and decentralization of power from the centre. THe PDP Needs the status quo. |

byteem:I dont want to comment on everything you have written because l am not a N/Deltan nor Igbo but honestly, l must give you a standing ovation for the bolded part! Even as an "outsider", you were able to succinctly summarise the "Yoruba Politics" of the South West in a way that only a S/Westerner is expected to appreciate. I will be paying attention to your post henceforth. Finally, l think it is wrong to crucify someone.... for fear of an offense WE THINK they would commit in the future. It is better we WAIT & SEE and allow them to make the first move...........before deciding their guilt..[/b I understand that once beaten, twice shy .... but we must also understand that "Life itself is Dynamic and people change/adjust to reality". IMO, l think Buhari, at this point, is our best bet, if we are forced to chose between him and Jonathan. I dont think Buhari will go as far as buying weapons for Boko haram... and do it PUBLICLY, with public funds! Jeez, what was Jonathan thinking? I am also almost certain that the Northerners have learnt some lessons from the events of 2009 and 2011 (lessons Igbos are still yet to imbibe) and that is:[b] You have to work with other tribes, even in a second position at times, IF YOU WANT TO BE AT THE TOP AND ACHIEVE YOUR REGION'S PURPOSE. I also dont think Hausas will push the "Religious agenda", as most people are trying to scare us about. Buhari for certain, will never push it, that l am sure about. Dont forget it was even Jonathan that went to PAY-UP the debts which Nigeria owed to OIC, which if left unpaid (as subsequent Govt of OBJ and Yar Ardua have done) will have meant an AUTOMATIC EXPULSION of NIGERIA from the Islamic Group! Right now, Igbos are very angry and instead of channeling that anger into investigating "What went wrong", most are busy abusing and pointing fingers at Yorubas! Igbos hate Hausas, they hate Yorubas..... who is left in Nigeria that they dont hate, considering that these two tribes are conveniently accountable for like 60-70% of Nigeria's population! There is a reason they call them "major tribes" of Nigeria, including Igbos. Well, keep abusing and fuming.... while Yorubas take their turn for the next Presidency. Who is the loser here? I also want to remind the likes of Asari Dokubo: No one is saying you cant blow-up pipelines and cripple the Oil industry. What we are saying is: 1.) Even if there is no more Oil in Nigeria, the nation will still "struggle to survive" after-all, there are countries without Oil who have a better standard of living than Nigeria, its a question of "re-adjustment and re-alignment of priorities" 2.) When it happens, you are as good as DEAD...with the rest of your Militants. Now, l dont think there is any "Rich militant" who wants to die! And even if you manage to run (assuming), you will live a life of misery like Osama bin laden, all the rest of your miserablelife, till that final bullet eneters your skull. dont start "forming James Bond" here because even Saddam Hussein, Ghadafi, Osama, e.t.c will have prefered to be alive, if they had a choice 3.) The Niger Delta is is a "protected area" for now because it has most of the "golden egg". If you destroy that "Egg", the Niger Delta is more useful to the Government, as a research waste swamp! Govt forces will reduce it to rubble under the pretext of fighting insurgency. Go and ask people in Borno/Maiduguri, how it feels and sounds, for your location ot be a theatre of war. And this one will be worse.... Not even those annoying creek Mosquitoes will survive. Napalm will be used to bunn the place down completely. So, Either way, you lose!...and your people and the whole region lose even more Its always a good thing to THINK FIRST.......before ACTING. Lastpage!

There is a reason they call us Yorubas we know how to smoke out rats. By the time we blockade the Niger Delta No one enters and no one leaves. No food enters, no farming allowed and then change the currency they will start drinking oil. Ask your "COUSINS" After 3 years when you beg to leave we wwill remove EVERY SINGLE IJAW and replace them with KANURI we shall have towns like New Baga,New Chibok, New Sambisa The only business we will allow you to do will be blowing up pipelines Do not think we do not know what to do make una just gentle 1 Like |

Bode geroge is not also happy and wants to go on exile. Whats wrong with people going on exile. whats all this talks about......some no read even read before them start to write. Lets hope the new change has some fair deals to offer to all regions meeting different needs of different regions not milking a few region to service all regions , things don't work out that way. The new government had better come up with other sources of income for the economy spread across from every region and also allow the people having such resources to also benefit from what they own.....that's is a fair thing to do. Allocates contracts to them as well, let them own the oil blocs , those with steel let them own the steel wells etc... |

Ahmeduana:If GEJ had won I am sure there would have been some gloating and triumphalism in the SS and SE which is unfortunate but true. We need to separate POLITICS from performance and I am one of those who agree that while GEJ's performance was poor he might have got away with it if maybe he was from the North. The fact is he is from the South and he needed the entire south behind him to stand any chance. He FAILED to unite the South. In almost every thing he did he was DIVISIVE. He was able to persuade Tinub to back him in 2011. No one knows what promises he made and kept or failed to keep. Also all the key people in PDP like Oyinlola ,OBJ ,Iyabo Obasanjo, Dimeji Bankole etc from the SW where were they in his government.? Unfortunately there has always been unhealthy rivalry between the SE and SW . If he was focused on his ambition he should have managed this properly but he gave the impression that he was TAKING SIDES Perception is more important than reality often .When Yorubas were screamiing marginalization he ignored them. When it was claimed that Stella Oduah was ethnically cleansing Yorubas what did he do? A fatal error. He underestimated Tinubu which was probably a death sentence.Additionally a good general does not fight unnecessary battles. So why did he fight Amaechi ,Saraki etc .It would be interesting to know what was the deal with Tinubu. He allowed his wife to interfere in issues that hindered rather than helped especially the Amaechi Issue. Even after the Amaechi issue started .He should have gone to beg Amaechi but was deceived A Blunder . Finally what was the political value of Dieziani Allison-Maduekwe as far as his reelection was concerned. Clearly she seemed compromised by corruption and therefore one must question the wisdom or value of keeping her from the point of view of reelection. Even if he wanted to keep the position in the SS which I support I do not see her as qualified either technically or politically there are many better choices from the SS. This was a very strategic position afterall. Other choices like Doyin Okupe only made him look like a learner. IN everything I have mentioned I say nothing about his "PERFORMANCE" but his skill as a POLITICIAN who was aiming for a second term s |
