I never understood what people meant whenever they said GEJ never loses a battle until I saw the outcome of the elections. The 2015 presidential election wasn't just a battle between GEJ and GMB, it was also a battle between GEJ and OBJ.
Everyone who knows Nigeria well, knows that OBJ spent his time in office, trying to create a name for himself in Africa. Eventually, he left office and became one of Africa's most respected former leaders. GEJ however had more issues on his neck while he was Nigeria's president, and I'm sure he almost had no time to think of Africa. But after losing the elections, GEJ performed an act that made him leap frog OBJ to being one of Africa's greatest. His singular act of congratulating the winner, made the whole world and all of Africa respect him. In some quarters he's been described as the father of modern democracy in Nigeria.

Even the APC which I never thought would ever use the name Jonathan and commend in the same sentence has this to say through Alhaji Lai Mohammed by that
singular act, which went a long way in dousing post-election tension, the President had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
It also noted that Jonathan had written his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria’s history and catapulted himself to a statesman.

Also, Mo Ibrahim a man who has never said anything about OBJ had this to say about GEJ; Thank you Mr President. If you are seeking a legacy, you have definitely achieved
it.”
If GEJ eventually wins the Mo Ibrahim award for 2015, then he'd definitely be smiling all over Africa, far more than OBJ is smiling. When the UN, AU, Commonwealth, etc looks for an African democrat to use an example, they'd definitely use GEJ, while OBJ falls into the category of so many former presidents.

Lastly, as my warri friend said "who God don bless, God don bless, Jona no dey ever lose. Him lose Aso Rock, but him win Africa".
Thanks bro even at a time he (OBJ ) was quote saying Jonathan plan to handover to the the Military if Buhari wins instead all was just to paint Jonathan bad but GEJ just put him to shame.

I beg to disagree that GEJ has earned a place in Africa's big wig. We haven't forgotten the King of Morocco's saga, Obama was in Africa he never came to Nigeria, British PM was in Lagos he didn't go to Abuja. Why do u think these leaders are snubbing GEJ?

Obasanjo under his tenure Bola Ige, Harry Marshall, and a whole lot of political assassinations occurred even when the political climate was not tense, Jonathan's tenure despite the tensed political atmosphere never recorded a single assassination and nobody was or went on exile.

Obasanjo was so deluded he claimed Jonathan was training snipers with people on watch-list, how mad can a man get? That midget El-Rufai was on exile during Yar'Adua's tenure and could only come back to Nigeria to flex his mouth because Jonathan allowed it.

Jonathan's defeat was just a powerful merged force of the Northerners and a region of their South-Western allies. If Jonathan was to be a Yoruba man or an Hausa man, he would have been the BEST president by miles Nigeria ever had. Watch how Jonathan becomes an Africa statesman after his handover and how world leaders use him as a reference point on the growth of democracy in Nigeria cum Africa. Being clueless seems to be a blessing after all.

Unlike Obasanjo who gatecrashes into Africa countries to give his unsolicited advise. Useless old man without a family and without dignity.
u just state my whole mind about the whole issue, even if Gej loose election 20 times i love him more than any leader in Nigeria, GEJ use a broken stone to step to a higher ladder, which OBJ cud not achieve, for me OBJ is as my own no gud make ur own spoil.

I beg to disagree. By the singular act of conceeding, GEJ is head and shoulders above OBJ. You may wish to note that the phone call is just the final point of his electoral reform. He allowed the independence of INEC - opposition parties won gubernatorial elections ( which dd not happen under OBJ, he did not invent unproven allegations to fire Jega etc. you should not downplay the infamous third term agenda of OBJ. It was the height of desperation and fell him down from the stateman he wanted to be. Do you think OBJ or even APC would have allowed the election and result? The OAU and ECOWAS did their bit but if GEJ wanted he would not have even allowed it to reach that stage. A journalist made the point that the faulty card reader at GEJ's polling booth could have been used by him to scuttle the process. I agree completely. Let us give credit to whom it is due. GEJ ia a statesman and way above 'I too know OBJ'.

1. why d luv hate advert when he was dis humble
2. do you think d peace accord was a joke? ask mrs gbagbo
3. check his speech at the lagos campaign to knw more.
All i can say his he was pressured by UN, AU, ICC and all other governing body. "JONA" was ridicled by NIGER president 4 been clueless and even chased bokoharam into our teritory. Nigeria we surely remeber differently.

Pls don't take anything away from the man's golden moment. He had options. He could have remained silent nd said nothing. Was he tamed by Africa's peace keepers when he maintained his calm despite the whole card reader debacle on saturday? Was he tamed by Africa's peace keepers when he told his party not to contest the result at the tribunal? That you don't like him, doesn't mean he's not a gentleman. Everyone that has met Jonathan personally has attested to the fact that the man is a pure gentleman and a man of peace. Even Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, despite all his issues with Jonathan kept saying, Jonathan is a good man, surrounded by bad advicers. Pls join the whole world in celebrating this man.

Thanks for your response. Some folks underestimate the response of Jonathan after the card reader issue on election day. Just one silly statement would have caused simultaneous protest by all PDP contestants across the country. People forget that it was not only the presidential election that was going on at that time. Those politicians are also desperate and have invested money.

Some people just don't think.

Actually wanted to free you but would like to correct your reasoning so you wont go about disgracing your family outside when you got no fact...
President Abdoulaye Wade in 2012 became the first West African leader in a while to concede defeat when he was thumped by former protege Macky Sall, enabling Sall to proclaim that "the big winner...is the Senegalese people".

Ex-Malawian president Bakili Muluzi, who observed Nigeria's elections for the Commonwealth, ran against dictator Hastings Banda in 1994 and succeeded in ending his 33-year-rule

Zambia's Rupiah Banda drew more than a few tears when, on losing his presidency to Michael Sata in 2011, he told the nation: "I have no ill feeling in my heart".

"I wish him well in his years as president," he continued. "Now is the time for a new leader. My time is done. It is time for me to say good bye.

Now can you see you the biggest fool ever... if you got no fact never in your life quote me again

Your post reeks ignorance. So your telling me there was no rigging in 2011, it was 'free and fair', may I say even PDP themselves would disagree with you on that , wait now lets look at 2015, why did Jonathan illegally place soldiers and military men in various parts of the southeast (Rivers e.g), but no that was not enough APC supporters where now detained in Imo state for no solid reason.

He is suddenly a hero for conceding to defeat, all those years of misery has suddenly dissipated because he conceded to defeat, unbelievable

Anyone who thinks Jonathan is a hero just because he 'conceded' to defeat unquestionably has a problem.

It was then I wiped and really havent stopped. Each time I read about his humility in this forum, I find tears in my eyes!
I know he would be happier when he leaves office cos the challenges in governance of Nig. Would be lifted from him.
