Nigerian troops have seized the town of alagarno in southern borno from the deadly boko haram islamic terrorist sect.Alagarno is widely known as a village that was transformed into a formidable and dangerous fortress by boko haram fighters: the town boasted a sizable slice of boko haram's huge armoury, including attillery guns, tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, heavily weaponized hilux vans etc...but was overpowered by the nigerian army's highly superior firepower after being significantly softened up by ceaseless airstrikes.Boko haram's grand sheik,Abu-Bakr Shekau who was formally located in the town is now confirmed to be on the run from the nigerian military merciless onslaught. . . http://www.naij.com/415392-boko-haram-stronghold-taken-over-nigerian-troops.html . This is how a war is fought! not by losing to cuban lollipop boys or firing at civilian fishing boats. 2 Likes 1 Share |

jln115:you really have wasted your schooling years!!! South Africa's intervention in Angola, Namibia and co was to suppress anti apartheid voices. South africa went to war to encourage apartheid rule when anti apartheid movement was getting stronger and stronger. That was the beginning of the militarization of south African streets. Just to show you as a stupid, tactless lier not worth my effort of response, you claimed both my sources are EXACTLY the same yet the first source says botha went to Angola when your communication lines broke to give your troops moral booster. Second source says Botha went after communication lines broke and your military high command was debating whether to use tactical nuclear with defeat starring them in the face , and botha had to decide against nuclear because south Africa was near a pariah state. Clearly both sources are completely different. You are a confirmed wizard!!!!! Should you have me translate the source to Zulu for you? |

MikeCZAR:lol.not all fishing boats have functional radionic system to receive such flippant alerts and signals....dont you think that if the fishermen had recieved such warning, they would have stirred clear of the area?. Yes,many standard navies when performing risky naval exercises and maneovers, always post a few patrol boats to seal off the area from wandering civilians, sometimes even red flares and fireworks are usually used, are you dead yet?...hehehehe....what is the iron oath again?..aha....that what is dead may never die. |

Patchesagain: Deployable is NOT = Self Mobile. All ground radars in this world are deployable by carrying them from city to city by heavy duty truck or aircraft transport. Nigeria too has many 500 km range radars fixed anjd deployable like your own. Show me photo of SANDF 500 km radar self mobile on it's own factory install vehicle like a RASIT radar .

agaugust:The Umlindi 3D radar has range of 500km+. The Thutlwa 2D radar has range of 120km+. You can't even defend a single state with your 40km radar. |

Patchesagain: Hey dude, SANDF does NOT have data-link integrated on 100% of equipment. Gripen jet, etc ....yes....all radars and equipment...NO ! Prove it ! We don't need to climb hills to use radar, we have vehicle mounted radars that detect ground targets. Shilka picks flat ground targets from 7 km to 20 km, and all elevated target on hills and buildings from 1km to 20 km. Yes, a shilka will detect land enemy, it is uses as a ground combat weapon my many countries today, shilkas fire on ground target. We will use shilka radar to detect your 14 toy radars hiding in bushes and hills and we will turn 4 barrel 23 mm cannon fire on them with devastating consequences, ALL your SANDF radars will be destroyed because they have ZERO armour and ZERO guns to defend themselves. GAME OVER ! . 1 Like |

lezz:"Clearly both sources are completely different." Word for Word, sentence for sentence, paragraph for paragraph, they are exactly the same!!!!!! "South africa went to war to encourage apartheid rule" WHY??there were no whites in Angola, why the hell would we encourage apartheid in Angola?? South Africa went to war for the same reason all the other countries went to war during the Cold War, TO STOP COMMUNISM!!! And we succeeded! "Should you have me translate the source to Zulu for you?" Naa.... Dont understand Zulu fully yet, still learning! You could translate it to Afrikaans if you really want to. |

andrewza: Like you have ZERO Mokopa in service ? You do not have unlimited supply of equipment, Ratel engine is imported from Europe, you DO NOT build it. Europe stopped DENEL from building any Rooivalk helicopter for a new customer by refusing to export vital components to DENEL, and the contract of sale was lost by South Africa. That led to the final closure of Rooivalk helicopter production factory FOREVER ! You build a few, you have limited capacity, you cannot build ALL YOU NEED....Europe controls South African weapons production with their supply of engines, ammunition, and electronics. You have ONLY ONE RATEL WITH SEARCH TV CAMERA.....finish ! . |

Patchesagain: How ? We have RASIT ground surveillance radar and is modern We have telescopic TV battlefield cameras, 2015 purchase and modern We have Shilka that detect ground target. Show me an SANDF equipment with radars to match our 46 units of Roland and Shikas. Show me dozens of SANDF ground surveillance telescopic mast cameras to match our own ultra-modern 2015 versions. Don't turn arguments into a joke and comedy when you lose, be bold and accept defeat like a man . 1 Like |

andrewza: You will conceal them without fear in Sahara desert or bare mountain tops ? Hide radar ? When you turn it on, a Shilka radar will detect the emission interference of enemy radar from your 14 toys and Nigeria will open fire on your radar men with Shilka 4 barrel 23 mm cannon and k.ill everything called South African inside the bush . |

agaugust: First show us where it says the Shilka can detect ground targets Then show us that it can be used for ground surveilance Then we will talk FYI: - Intergration of Project Cytoon, Project Klooster and the Radar systems is well documented in the links i have posted - The Thales systems are largely undetectable according to the sources I have posted |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 2:11pm On Apr 04, 2015 |
agaugust: The sale of the Rooivalk to Turkey was stopped as Turkey does not enter into military contracts with france - Rooivalk has french components. South Africa was completely self sufficient during the arms embargoes when we were building Ratels and Rooikats. We can do it again if we so choose. |

agaugust: You have 2 Rasit systems bought in the 1980s- ancient technology You cannot post any stats for your TV camera's strapped to your civilian vehicals - for all we know they are as powerfull as the camera on my iphone. Where does it say the Shilka can detect ground targets? We have dozens of vastly superior ground search radars as well as the Ratel observation systems - whos abilities are well documented Nigeria is 66 years behind South Africa in ground based ISTAR and 25 years behind South Africa in ground search radar!!
