endy247. Coryza vaccine which I bought at #7500 for a thousand dose worked just fine. The anti-biotics used before the vaccination gave only temporary relief. Success.

#3000/carton?! How come? White cockrels often cost #15 each & the black, #30/one. Since when does a carton of 50 DOCs sold for 3k? While I don't have significant experience in cockrels rearing, I can submit that one difference I've noticed between the black & white variant is that demand for the former is much higher. Success.

endy247. My opinion is that those anti-biotics mentioned will only give temporary relief. Vaccination is the only permanent cure. What I suspect is that those birds showing signs of Coryza were probably not. injected earlier. However, I'll be glad to be proven wrong & that the anti-biotics do indeed give permanent solution. Do let us know how it pans out.

Since I've not compare it with other drugs mentioned here, I can't really tell. But I checked my record book and found out we actually used tylodox, keproceryl and multivit. Some still died despite medication. Did u vaccinate for coryza?

Eggcelent:
samuel25. How long after has it been since you administer the Lasota? Was it with Vacci-Boost? Are you sure the vaccination didn't fail? Normally, the greenish droppings before application of Lasota should progressively clear-off after its application.
Today Monday make it 10 days after the La Sota administration and the greenish dropping is still very visible and dominant. They don't look sick but their production still increase from around 80% to around 88%. The greenish dropping is not watery but look like eating of green grass. Can I still need to treat them of Newcastle and readministered the vaccine or what can I do.

sometimes green poo do not necessarily mean newscastle disease. U should worry if d poo is watery. Dont give lasota again but administer a mild antibiotics

samuel25. I align with what jamp said above, especially with you saying you have increasing number of eggs on daily basis. Are there dots on the eggs? If not, just stick with what jamp said. Success.
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 2:22pm On Apr 06, 2015
judithume. From this pix, I haven't seen anything to be worried about. Healthy birds sometimes do that. Has there been any other "unusual" things noticed about them? Emcycool. What type of cages are you looking at? I'll advise you read through previous cages on this thread for an answer to your question. Meanwhile, you may budget between #900 & #1000 for raising each bird to laying stage. Success.

Afternoon all.

Recently, I have been thinking of what would be best and lucrative to establish in Ibadan as investment, but it occurs to me that since someone I know really well is coming toward the end of her animal nutrition study at university. I am therefore thinking that given her animal nutrition background that it would be a good idea for me to invest in some sort of animal agriculture farming (poultry or fish or even animal feed production depending which is more lucrative) for her to run for me as a manager. I would therefore like some input / advice from anyone who is into poultry, fishing or animal feed production. What I would like to know are:

1. What is more lucrative in nigeria between poultry (layer or meat poultry), fishing and animal feed production?
2. Which of the above is more risky in terms of mortality etc and more capital intensive?
3. What is a rough estimate to establish ?
