Welcome To The Village Where They Drink The Same Water With Goats (PHOTO) by Ishilove: 2:02pm On Apr 05, 2015
This is rather pitiful.

Vanguard recently paid a visit to Taran and Gaukaka-Lasauya communities of Bauchi State for the instance of the leadership of WaterAid Nigeria, a civil society organisation, CSO, and it was discovered that in these rural communities were men, pregnant women, youth and children whose appearance evoked sympathy.

According to the report, in Taran community, there was only one source of water for the villagers and animals to drink from. For the villagers, it’s a choice-less situation; it’s the only way of staying alive; it didn’t matter if water borne diseases become their constant ailment.

“We drink water from the same source with our goats. When we get to the stream to fetch water and discover that goats have come ahead of us to drink, what we do is to fetch the surface that we believe the mouths of the goats touched and pour it away, then proceed to fetch our own,” said Rahal Bitrus, one of the women in Taran.

“We don’t have any other source of water. We just reduce the surface and fetch our drinking water even though we know there are consequences, but we are left with no option.

The water sometimes gives us and our children diarrhea and typhoid fever and very painful urine, but we still go ahead and drink it to stay alive.

We trek about nine kilometers to get to the river to fetch the water we are talking about, and, of course, it is affecting our lives, economy and even our children’s education.

This lack of water affects our economy in the sense that we have to look for water before going to the market and, by the time you go and come back, on getting to the market, some transactions would have been made which you must have missed and sometimes we end up not going to the market because we must have been late and prospective customers gone home.”
If you as much as drink tap water in your house, be grateful.

For real? Sometimes when you think things are so bad and your situation is so worse, you suddenly have reasons to be grateful and thankful.
But this is purely the responsibility of the government and, they have failed woefully in that regards.
And before we would put the greater blame on the federal government, we should know this is purely a preserve of the government at the local level; because this is a grassroot problem and that's what they are created for. The government, their representatives both at the state and federal houses of assemby and even the state government FAILED THEM! EPIC FAIL!
Quite a shame!

Not only is it pitiable, it is uncalled-for, unheard-of and unthinkable.

Gosh!!!

I hope the govt of the day will look into their plight and do something about it WITHOUT USING IT TO CAMPAIGN... IT IS THEIR RIGHT.

If something like this is happening after 16years of PDP rule then I can say the north was right to vote out PDP. These people are so wicked that once they are in power they care less about those who voted them in. What is the joy in looting billions of dollars and people die of poverty and drinks same water with goats? How much will a community bore-hole cost this wicked outgoing PDP government? And some dumb Igbo guys will call GEJ their hero for been a sore election looser and accepting his loss. Will Mandela, Nkrumah or Even dictator Ghadafii sit and watch his people drink with goats?

GEJ IS A FAILURE AND HE IS NO WHERE AMONG AFRICAN GREATS sad

I pray God helps them and provide for them better and clean water even if our polticians don't really cvare.

You are right! The pipe borne water provided to them by Buhari (early 80'), Obj (1999 - 2007) and briefly my Yaradua's administration was destroyed by GEJ's administration. Buhar ( 2015 - ) has come to fix it (change).

All hail the might general.

So you're telling me that the leadership of the community could not instruct their young men to dig a bore hole, well, or shallow reservoir in their community? Nobody can make those earthenware pots of old days? Nobody can make a simple sand filter? These are technologies from 1000 years ago and still nobody has bothered to do so in their own community?

The real shame is that people have adopted this "government must help us because we stopped being able to do anything for ourselves" attitude.

It's so crude. I can't put a thought to it. Governance shouldn't be for urban areas alone. At least a bore hole would solve the issue. Really angry. #change should happen to them too. Pathetic
