My brother you cant curtail it.....its their nature.. how many times have they been slaughtered in the north? Do they learn? The sensible ones among them will soon come to beg for peace.

Ibos have been living peacefully all over the south west before that frustrated old bigot Achebe, wrote that genocide inducing book to make them feel stupidly superior to every one else. Its a passing phase they will overcome it and eventually learn the virtues of civility and good neighbourliness.

No thats not true. You do not have a good grip on the underlying issues here.

Please step aside....

Interesting thread.

While we wait for a confirmation, denial or retraction from Alhaji Akiolu, some of us are showing their true colours here. Very disturbing that some posters here who voted freely (in last week's election) can so brazenly support these incendiary statements allegedly made by Oba Akiolu. We have a very long way to go. undecided

Oba Akiolu does not need to say it......its the popular and mainstream feeling in Lagos.

If Ibo misstep in this election, their future in Lagos will regress, simple!

Brother.... I am a full blooded Lagos indigene.... if any one should feel insulted by their attitude and insults it is non but me....nobody calls your land a no man's land and expect you to be happy.

But Lagos was built by the good nature of our fore bears ..... the europeans decided to make this place their home because of the warmth and good attitude of our fathers.... let us not allow any parasite to destroy it for us. We dont need any form of violence at this time, it scares away potential investors.

The ibos are clearly in the minority despite all their noise they couldnt even deliver Lagos to their kin from the niger delta in the last election.... Eyin omo Yoruba e jebure o ...Awo olugbebe.

This propaganda news can cause something else, its just like the trash they posted here few weeks back that Buhari said he will kill the Ibos if given the chance again. Enough of this rubbish.

If this statement truly emanate from the Oba, I'm definitely voting Agbaje...... Agbaje is also the son of the land who has the right to be voted for.
You disappoint me if you believe Oba Rilwan Akinolu sat on the throne of his fathers and said this undecided

Remarkable:

But there are Igbo reps in lagos representing Oshodi and co. ... so how is it Yoruba land as opposed to Nigeria-land (since you don't like 'no man's land'?)

Which Igbo reps?
How many federal constituencies are in Oshodi/Isolo?
Is Mutiu Shadimu(of PDP) Igbo?
NL is no credible news outlet!

No sir. Neither you nor Oba Akiolu has the right to coerce any Nigerian, (no matter his ethnicity or station in life) into voting for a particular candidate. The document called the Nigerian Constitution (among other documents) makes this very clear. You may choose to gently persuade or coax but you cannot threaten anyone - and even then, such attempts at persuasion exclude traditional rulers who should not be seen to be partisan.

We should not even be having this conversation - that we are having this discussion in the first place is clear evidence of our social and political underdevelopment. It is shameful and I cannot find the words to describe it. angry

That's why I said if truly emanates........ This past election has taught me how far and wide people will go for the sake of power. I'm definitely giving the Oba the benefit of doubt.

Ranting of an ANT.
The Oba must regret this.

From the last election, we can see that ibos CANNOT give the PDP victory in a statewide election.

In fact, I like this.
ibos ingratitude to Tinubus magnanimity over the years must be treated.

I don't even see why people think they need to lose sleep over Saturday sef. Agbaje can not win.

If anyone thinks Tinubu is about to lose Lagos (it did not happen when he was pitched against Obasanjo and you think it will happen when the loyalty of the police and army has changed), the person is kidding ( JK) the only reason the APC is throwing up a media party is that when the results come, nobody will come to say the APC cooked numbers up.

Agbaje will not get up to the numbers GEJ got in Lagos

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has read the riot act to Igbo leaders and monarchs in Lagos State, warning that he will make life unbearable for them if they sabotage efforts being made to ensure that the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, emerges as the next governor of the state.

The monarch, who summoned all the Eze-Ndigbo in the state to his palace, said the support of their kensmen for the opposition party in the state could frustrate current efforts being made in all quarters to ensure that Lagos was no longer in opposition with the Federal Government.

He said: “On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode, who I picked, that is your end. If it does not happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“For the Igbo and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they did not come with all their houses. But now, they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God.

“I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he could never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you cannot do it here.”

You mean they now enthrone raving lunatics as Oba in a place like Lagos shocked shocked shocked
I want to believe this is fake ,that is my first hunch because if it isn't the man definitely needs to be institutionalized in a psychiatric ward in chains before he takes off his clothes to ring his bell to balogun market

The ibos better be smart becos they can't win a war in lagos. They will be outnumbered by neighbouring sympathetic yorubas 4rm Oyo, Ogun,Ekiti and Ondo states. Their only only means of escape is through the Atlantic Ocean!

MayorofLagos:

How many times has this constitution stepped up to your rescue when your life is on the line?

The twenty Ibo bodies recovered from Ozu river in your homeland, has the constitution delivered justice to them yet?

If your own land does not respect your life and drown your youths without any constitutional intervention....then what is your life worth to a Yoruba who decides to waste you for tresspasing in his domain?

^^^^
I don't know what you mean by your first sentence. I referenced the constitution because it is the rule book by which this Republic (imperfect as it is) has decided to run its affairs. If my life is on the line (as you put it) and it is eventually taken unlawfully by another, the constitution stands in the gap and prosecutes whoever is responsible. That's the way it works. The Constitution isn't perfect but without it, we would be far, far worse off.

You don't know my homeland, sir. I wonder how you came to the assumption that Ozu River (wherever that is) is anywhere near my homeland. But that isn't even the issue. If the Constitution has not delivered justice to the people you mentioned as having been dumped in the river - then the fault is with the human operators of the Constitution and not the Constitution itself. I hope that is clear.

More to the point - I am yet to see the relevance of your comments above to my comments about the rights of Nigerians to freely vote for whoever they wish. Those rights cannot be abridged by you or any monarch. That is the crux of the matter.

Let the so called Oba know that power belongs only to Almighty God and He gives to whosoever He wishes.
Are you not ashamed, still making comments after all the noise you made before March 28 about Buhari losing?

Nigeria has been turned into a jungle where diplomacy has ceased to exist. A traditional ruler is all but meant to be non-partisan. If he indeed made such utterances then it is unfortunate. It is also wrong for Igbos to keep boasting about installing a governor of Lagos in connivance with PDP. It would have been best to keep quiet and vote their choice on the election day.
