jayfolarin: You first made some unguarded tribalistic statements and then you went around and blamed PDP which is the main course of this... I would have applauded your second statement but due to the tribalistic angle you took I say you failed woefully because inside you are a tribalistic and you have shown how small minded you are!! Firstly your statement shows you want Nigeria to divide, secondly you look down on Igbos as being behind you, thirdly you are very immature and childish in your reasoning. Better learn to think properly.. what this issue has shown me is Yorubas generally are easily drawn into the filth of tribalism. Irrespective of their education level. And frankly its sad... one would expect a region who boasted early educational exposure to lead in the fight against tribalistic hate but instead everywhere I go it seems Yorubas are the architect of this, from the UK to USA, Yorubas seems to bring in this clanish tribalistic and nepotism ideology.... why? 3 Likes |

For who ever cares; I think the Oba was placing a curse rather than making a threat. Not that it makes much of a difference though. |

I am no fan of Oba Akinolu, in fact I still believe he was not meant to be king but however harsh his statements might sound rest assured it's all just politics. The Igbos should involve elders in this matter not useless youths with wayward statements. Nobody can threaten the Oba of Lagos no matter how you feel about him, he's still BOSS. I know it must hurt to watch a monarch utter such careless statements but that's just some of the things that comes with living in another man's land; this issue should be resolved by dialogue not by issuing ultimatums. 3 Likes 1 Share |

titanic1: you still don't get it looking at it from the point of view of anyone who has not done his/her research, it would be assumed the igbos would die more in lagos. but that would be the only thing the igbos would lose, the yorubas would lose much more such as loss of land, lives, and investors. from the point of view of someone who has done his research, the yorubas would lose more lives than the igbos because an average igbo man is twice or thrice a yoruba man. yoruba men have wasted the little strength they got from amala on chasing women and f..king up and down. not to mention all the yeye disease wey dem don pack put for body.. dirty people. na so them children go dey run up and down the streets with only pant, very dirty panties for that matter. 1 Like 1 Share |

Which other man's land are we talking about here. We are in Nigeria and Lagos is Nigeria. The Igbiz there did not steal lands. Most of them bought lands and developed them. It is a very great foolishness for anybody to make such statement like the so called Oba. abbey621: |

[quote author=otr1 post=32421211]The Ibos will soon know who owns Lagos in a week time. The Oba means every letter of his words and his say is final-no apology. I beg to differ. The Oba clearly owes them an apology. No where in a civilized world should an elder in the community make such a statement In the public realm. As a Yoruba who understands tradition this statement is unbecoming of an Oba. While I support the APC; this is clearly not the way of a statesman. The Oba can cajole, advice and persuade others how to vote but he cannot make such an hostile statement publicly or privately. There is more to this than meets the eye. As they say in Yoruba, "the thing whey he go chop no make am well". Clearly the Oba has guaranteed godies coming from Ambode. Even then, such statement from an Oba is clearly unacceptable. |

atakamus: Why don't you stop deceiving yourself! Wherever a tribe is a minority they are always seen as guests. In the east, Yorubas can never dominate, there are certain things that they cannot accomplish. In the North, muslims are majority, christians will always be a minority. In Lagos even though the Yorubas are the majority, Igbos are able to accomplish a lot due partially to their hardwork and majorly to the friendly environment Lagos gives to all its citizens but don't mistake hospitality for weakness. The Oba is the traditional ruler of Lagos when he makes a mistake you don't give him an ultimatum or make threats against him and the Yorubas rather you involve elders or take matters to the Governor and other leaders of the State. |

People talking about violence as if they can withstand it. Igbos will get kano treatment abi? Hope you have not forgotten that the igbos started killing hausas that resides in eastern part too! Let's stop being tribalistic, what the oba said was very wrong, and dats it. My dad fought in the biafran war, he usually tells us not to pray for war cos its a bad thing to experience. Let's just say tins as it is, when we hear of neighbour killing neighbors wife, daughter etc, we will all be writing RIP to the dead, if truely we feel bad how much more should we feel bad towards mass killing. Some of ours are too tribalistic, our hearts is far from the love we speak! Make una dey fight cos me and my family will neva die in any war! akins56: |
Re: Ohanaeze gives Oba of Lagos 48 hours to withdraw threat to Igbos by Nobody: 2:24am On Apr 07, 2015 |
kikelomojessy: I am not supporting his statement of threats. Do not twist my words, I am just tryna reason from the angle of the Oba who has seen the good, bad and ugly periods of lagos. He realises like everyone else that APC has achieved a whole lot in lagos in the last 16 years while the pdp on the other hand has ruined this nation of vast wealth and resources in the same number of years even owning lagos govt a number of outstanding allocations that was only paid recently. As the traditional ruler of the city, you don't expect him to fold his arms while some retrogressive elements like Bode George and obanikoro halts lagos' development. The Igbos have shown in the recently concluded election that they'd sacrifice the collective nation's prosperity for their selfish agendas. I mean how else could you explain the overwhelming support for Jonathan despite his glaring shortcomings in governance. They didn't even hide the fact that they voted not out of competence but out of hate for the candidacy of Buhari and PYO. In my opinion, the Oba is simply defending the prosperity of his territory. Peace. 4 Likes |

jayfolarin:What threats? The only people who will see any threats are those given to mysticism and believe in curses. You know, it's like when a Yoruba man says "wa wo gbo lo"...meaning "you will go missing..." or literally..."you will enter the bush"...that's a curse not a threat. |

Daykoozy The Oba is right. I share the same sentiment with him. How can people who wouldn't welcome you in their land( Ibos wouldn't sell 1 inch square of land in the east to a Yorubaman) turn around and say your land is a no man's land and call you all sort of names and you just keep your cool? I see this as a threat to our territorial posterity and Ibos must be treated like intruders. They're free to go and vote for Jimi in the SE. These people rigged out all the APC candidates in their states and they will do it again this saturday, solely because they think APC is Amala and Ewedu party. In most cases, APC members were barred from voting and elections didn't take place in some place, but results were produced. This weekend, we will replicate by carrying out the inquisition of the PDP and the Ibos at the polls, starting from Lagos. Is it not when they are allowed to vote that they will be expecting PDP to win? |

See what this oba wants to bring upon that fine city called lagos? Some people are already talking of a reprisal attack on the yorubas here in d east. Oba,if u must know, ndi igbo truly helped to develop Lagos state. Even d lagoon knows this too Well. U really made an unwarranted statement, can d oni of ife or d great alafin try such? |

lestat: I was going to take your post serious as I have written almost 5 lines of reply but a quick look at your previous posts showing your obvious hatred for the yorubas stopped me. Imagine you calling me 'tribalistic'. Trust me i'm trying hard to be liberal here but the continuous annoying bashes towards my traditional rulers and kinsmen makes it increasingly difficult to maintain my stand. Like my post said, it's better for all that is concerned that this talk of war be quenched quickly. Most of y'all won't be able to stand the heat let alone the ammunitions! A word they say is enough for the wise. |

zimoni: I like your stand even though you are for PDP. This morning, my friends were angry and blaming the Oba but dare not curse nor insult the Eleko, some even threatened to vote Agbaje in solidarity. Fast forward to this evening, they change mind cos of all the insult and bashing from the yheebhoes, and the useless ultimatum for apologies. Agbaje have been courting the yhboes for long and playing the tribal card, he surely pay for all these insult. Our land is NOT no man's land and will never be. |
