When people talk about Ilorin in this manner I just laugh cos they have absolute no idea what the place is like. Ilorin is majorly muslim city with virtually every indigen with different ancestral origin. The Emir also has Fulani ancestral origin but he's more YORUBA than anybody. The Emir is just a title to depict an Emirate, an Islamic state. I can categorically tell you the Emir does not even understand Fulfude. You'll see indigens with ancestral origins from Oyo(mostly), Osun (e.g former gov. Lawal), Borno, Kogi etc but still Yoruba! If you still of the opinion that Ilorin is being ruled by a Fulani, just go to the place and see for yourself. The complexity of things there is not as simple as you think. 6 Likes 1 Share |
