@OP, as Danjuma said, if Ojukwu had been as gracious as GEJ, hundreds of thousands of Igbo lives would have not been lost. Sadly, Ojukwu himself fled in the end. Awolowo's strategy of starvation via blockade didn't help either. May the God served by Igbos give them the spirit of forgiveness and intelligence. 3 Likes |

nduchucks:First of all Let us agree that we shall not start abusing each others families.Respect is reciprocal.Let us shun silly personal remarks. It helped to end the war though the number you state is debatable have you any evidence? Even today economic sanctions are a standard tool against intransigent evil regimes so no biggie.Only a callous leader would see the writing on the wall and persist in folly while his people perish like cockroaches. That highlights how fiendish Ojuiku was 1 Like |

nduchucks:That i your opinion. The fact is that the food that was being sent to those so called innocent women and children was being appropriated by Biafran Troops That had to STOP. So let us stop the emotionality and deal with reality. It was a war not inter-house sports. War is not meant to be fun so once you go to war you expect a lot of bad things to happen. 2 Likes |

omonnakoda: ^^^Why didn't you evil lot suggest this for the North East then? Starve everyone there into submission; level markets, farmlands and stop supplies of food and medicine! Sure women and children would be affected, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the pesky bokos would be affected as well! Quick question: If the Nigerian army was all they claim it was, why couldn't they use conventional warfare to defeat the Biafran army after say just 6 to 7 months? |

biafransoul:You see the difference is I am Yoruba and as you know very well we are "Cowards" .When faced with the prospect of our children starving we cooperate with the oppressor and wait for a more auspicious time.Others however, are a braver more manly bunch than we are .They think nothing of having their children starve just to prove to everyone how macho they are .To each his own but then having made their choice I do not understand the subsequent whingeing. I am confused by it all. Men don't cry so what is this all about?. 1 Like |

agabaI23: I am interested in that part in bold, who is oppressing you? Ibos have not been so favored in project Nigeria but that does not in any way mean oppression, everyone who seems to be favored have one time or the other worked for project Nigeria including the Igbos. Let me take you to the 90's so we wouldn't degenerate to viewing ourselves as ancient of days, when the Military seized absolute power, who fought for the Democratic Nigeria we are enjoying today? please correct me if I am wrong because my history may sound rusty, they were mostly southwesterners, immediately after they wrestled power from Abacha, Ekwueme joined the movement for the formation of PDP, and still expected to be handed the presidential ticket, just like that? Meanwhile, the Northerners adopted OBJ as a compensation for the June 12/pro democracy struggle, Alex Ekwueme ran home to cry wolf how oppressed Igbos were, forgetting that Nnamdi Azikiwe a PAN African got the presidency immediately after the struggle for independence. Look at APC members in the SouthEast, though I am not a fan of Ngige, but when you hear Igbos who hate him, their reasons are so petty, "he joined a yoruba party" and they have consistently ensured he lost in all his recent elections. Rochas Okorocha is suffering the same thing in Imo state, the Igbos are drunk in pettiness and bigotry nothing more, I don't see any marginalization any where, why did Igbos not work for APC to brighten their chances? Victor Umeh's APGA held APGA so dear even when it no longer produces presidential aspirants, what kinda political calculation is that? Today, they expect APC to be doling out positions to them after the political suicide they committed with a drowning man, whose fate has already been decided by the blood bath in the north. Look at the Yorubas, even when they are at the fore front of APC, there were still factions working for PDP, either way it goes, it could have been a win win situation for the region. Look at the SS jonathan they were willing to die for, even when the APC alliance was waxing stronger and tougher, treated like slaves by the so called PDP, yet they stuck with Jonathan. Read here; https://www.nairaland.com/2166883/president-jonathan-south-east-orchestra and tell me why any sane Igbo man will ever support Jonathan. I think it is time for Tinubu to make it clear that Igbos should re elect Okorocha and perhaps another SE APC Governor if they want to be taken seriously by the present APC government. 1 Like |

omonnakoda: It helped Nigeria no doubt but it redirected a military conflict to a Genocide targeting defenceless women and children, any generation can choose to whip up sentiments anyday. War!! is War!! stick to the rules of engagement, guess Awolowo doesn't know that much. |

asala1: It is the height of absurdity to say or think Igbos feel inferior. Interior to who please? Yorubas or Hausas? Lwkmd FYI pls the average igbo man knows he/she is first before any other. Why else do you people think were proud and arrogant. Its simply because we are always confident of ourselves. |

jpphilips:Bro kulu temper 1. You said "Ígbos have not been favoured in federal projects" and you said again down in your argument "I don't see any maginalisation anywhere" This is the definition of maginalisation "The process whereby something or someone is pushed to the edge of a group and accorded lesser importance. This is predominantly a social phenomenon by which a minority or sub-group is excluded, and their needs or desires ignored". Could this be in line with principle of giving only GBP 20 to all Igbos not minding how much they had as bank balance? 2. You want the SEasterners to shift with power? That is not politics. Politics is about ideology and principles. It is not harlotry. I supported GEJ and I will still support him against Buhari any day because I know what he has done not because he is Igbo or from the SS. He stands for the economic liberation all Nigerians need. i. GEJ failed because the US and the UK wanted him out, ii. the north wanted power back such that even PDP governors in the North compromised. They either did nothing or rigged for Buhari in the North iii. Jega was mandated to deliver Buhari by the North and the US. So he did what he had to do to disenfranchise GEJ's favoured area. He refused to authorise the use of mannual voting till late while my friend in the North told me they had no problem. They used manual accreditation from the start. I really do not want to go into this bro. 1 Like |
