Dear Forumites, I wish to relay a nasty experience I’m passing thro. I believe this is relevant because we certainly do need a TV set to watch FTA. It began when I went to a major distributor of LG Electronics in Nigeria to buy a large-screen LG LCD TV. It would be my 1st time owning an LCD and secondly, I’d secured an unusual discount (now useless) frm the store over this item. As a result, such was my wild excitement that when I asked that the item be tested and they told me item is ok & there was no need as I could always return it if defective, I had no reason to worry. And that was my error! I got home, mounted it after 3days later & discovered the screen was badly cracked! Upon return to the store, they were all saying “but you shld have insisted on it being tested before leaving na”. They also said it could have cracked while enroute from d store to my house. When I recalled the deceptive verbal guarantee & the haste with which the item was delivered and concluded frm d store, I knew better. After all efforts, I couldn’t get them to take responsibility, rather I ended up paying for the screen replacement which costs another half of the cost of item. After assuring me the replacement would come within 3 weeks of payment, its been 3 months now and d item is still lying in their store with no word on when replacement would come. Wouldn’t wish my worst enemy this. Lesson is that while in d shop, PLS INSIST on testing every electronic item b4 leaving wth it! Apology for veering off thread. 3 Likes |

. ify4king:mpeg2 is a format for coding video Tv broadcast..a satellite receiver or finder cannot determine if a signal is broadcasting on mpeg2 or mpeg4 until it scans the TP to decode mpeg2 or mpeg4...the standard for broadcast is dvbs/dvbs2! What determines if a signal can be tracked is dvbs or dvbs2 standard for broadcast!.A dvbs2 sat finder can lock any satellite signal broadcasting on dvbs or s2.. then complies with mpeg2 or mpeg4 for video or audio decoding! to view the channel! To answer your question,mpeg2 only sat finder can only be dvbs...it can track/lock 98% of satellite signals received in Nigeria including fringe sats TP where most of the tracking TP are dvbs/ mpeg2 broadcasts..except for eutelsat at 10east C band and 5east C band which are full of dvbs2 transponders!A dvbs sat finder can still see a dvbs2 signal..but it won't lock the transponder..at the moment dvbs/mpeg2 sat finder are still useful but don't track with dvbs2 TP! 2 Likes |

Why is that when beans to open channels viewable in Africa are publicised it becomes any issue and changed quickly? In other continents the beans are scattered allover the show and they are made available as soon as they are changed. |

I would sell a D85W dish and accessories which i bought last week. This dish can be used to carry 5 lnbs at once and can access 150+ free to air channels. I am selling it because the space in my house is too small and i cant seem to find anyone who can mount it with the available space. Call me on 07069303910 if you are interested. I stay at Agunlejika area of lagos, close to surulere, apapa, oshodi, festac, amuwo, iyana and yaba. |

Spy360:The moment you came around on this forum to gloat over what you did to a friend......your impudent conduct on moral grounds became a matter of concern to not only me but equally other Nairalanders...... Keep thinking and making the mistake your forbears made that has continuously earned them the mistrust of the rest of Nigerians........I am no longer surprised at how you guys worship and denominate everything happening around you in paltry sums of Naira and Kobo......I guess you charged your 'friend' the sum of N50,000.00 as had been suggested by a concerned Forumite to your debased comments........ You can keep your wonder 'deal' as no one would be begrudging you of same.....and the money from the heist you pulled of your 'friend'.....who after awhile should be rational enough to know he is better off your one-sided lecherous relationship with him to do the needful by keeping you at arms length. 1 Like |
