At least 20 people have been killed in Borno State on Thursday, April 9, in an attack suspected to have been carried out by Boko Haram militants.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers invaded Dile village in Askira Uba area of the state around 2 a.m in several vehicles. The reportedly burnt houses and killed anybody in sight.

A resident, Ibrahim Usman, who fled to Mubi said about 20 persons were killed and many were injured during the attack.

“Dozens of Boko Haram fighters attacked our village ‎at about 2 a.m. and killed 20 people,” Usman said. “Many of us fled to the bush to avoid being killed. Everybody was running for his life. We don’t know the whereabouts of our family members.”

Another resident, Gambo Abakura, said ”Most of the insurgents had turbaned their heads; others in quasi-military uniform, chanting Allahu Akbar, meaning Allah is Great.”

According to Premium Times, a local vigilante in Askira, Mallam Baba, confirmed the attack.

”Yes, there was an attack because many residents had fled to Mubi and they told us the insurgents have several camps in the bush around the area from where they wreak havoc on villages,” he said.

And yet the population of people there keeps on increasing. What have they been killing? Fowls? Anyway not being insensitive but the northern leaders brought this upon themselves because when they started with killing of Christians they neva knew they'll be served too. Don't worry, shey ur Buhari has promised to wipe them out. He will soon see it is not by mouth. Terrorism is deeper and more complex than the old man understands cos in his generation thr wasn't rily terrorism as it is now. RIP to the dead.

What will it take for these stupid animals to understand their killings are senseless.

You claim to hate the western education. Yet you use their trucks for war.
You use their weapons for battle
you use their cameras to communucate your hate mesaages
and their internet to open twitter accounts. .

Just think, these were 20 people alive yesterday, thinking about the other hundreds of people killed before.

Just imagine, there are people alive now that will leave as numbers in the newspapers to Boko Haram. 20 people who were probably greeted with happiness and smiles at birth. 20 people who had potential and probably believed they would see their old age, or marry, or settle down and have grandchildren. 20 people who were planning for the weekend and imagined themselves next week, for next year, for the next 30 years even. 20 people who have been growing until this very moment when a few seconds, just a narrow amount of time, were terminated and all they could be turned into a number. Gone.

We must remember that these are lives, and not just numbers. It will put things into better perspective.
