sophtaf: My story is very similar to yours. Happened while I was at Oshodi, on my way to WAEC office to get scratch card that year. I only had sympathy on the bros 'cos he said he was a foreigner and has had his 'goods' confiscated. Long story short, all the money I had on me were taken by the man and his gang. Thankfully, twas about 3k. Them laugh me for house that day sha lol. 7 Likes 1 Share |

@Op, you sound very mature, focused, wise and ungreedy. I see greatness written all over you. Please keep it up. I do someone is learning something from your story on how not to expect to reap where they have not sown, cos these fraudster thrive on the greed of human heart-nothing more, nothing less. The fraudster are only in business because there is always someone greedy enough to fall for their quick-riches stories! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Same modus operandi these guys use even in Lagos. I've gotten into them like four times in 8 years of living in Lagos. I've gotten out of the cab every single time and decided not to get into unpainted cabs ever again. 5 Likes |

sammieguze: Oh!!! Had similar experience in Abeokuta, last year too. They always make use of handsome and confused guys. The guy approached me with something like a pendulum ball, asking me if I know of a particular plaza, and I said, no, then another guy interrupted saying it was expensive, bla bla bla your exact story, I dint even know they were upto something, I just walked away. It was later someone gisted me that she had same experience. Lucky you tho!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

In a country that has this level of evil, its expedient that we don't need a joker neither clueless dude to sanitise the system, rather we desperately need great leader with lion heart to do needful 2 Likes 1 Share |

I entered the same around last year June, same story, same way, just that they were 3, there was no woman in the car. I already heard such story from a friend earlier and I knew that road also isn't safe, but it's always my major road. So after I entered, the driver drove like 1 or 2min and parked,sum1 wants to drop(d dollar owner) so they started the story,i didn't bother to listen, immediately they started I already knew and I said to myself "oh naa dis people, abeg I no wan delay myslf" I dropped of immediately, thou I listened to them for few minutes b4 dropping, but I already knew from d beginning so it makes it easier for me, besides, we were not on motion then. Same story, but I didn't wait for them to ask me if i'm going to share with them blah blah cus I already knew who they were, I just opened the door, they asked me why do I want drop,if I'm scared or something,i said nothing, that I got no time for all this,so they already knew I have the knowledge of their game. They moved immediately I drop off. This happened along badagry expressway,i took the taxi from igbo elerin express,d junction, we haven't even gotten to afro junction b4 it happened. I was lucky because I knew about the road very well and I knew d point they is ally start the operation from and besides,i already heard about similar dollar stories. I asked myself "shey one oga still dey put dollars for house, where d oga wan see d dollar sef for dis kind country wey tinz no easy, except u be politician, and u can't just keep a lot of money at home, if you get dollar, why u no charter taxi or go buy car immediately sef,u kum carry dollar for boot, not even for ur leg wey u sitdown" 5 Likes 1 Share |

Mine happened on the 16th of March 2015. I was going to secretariat from federal housing kubwa under brigde. I stood for some time, i didnt see any cab going to secretariat. Area 1, berger, wuse etc came announced themselves took their passengers and left. I golf car stopped in front of me, he didnt announce or say where he was going, he just made a sign with his hands like "where are you going"? I said secretariat. I went closer i said "secretariat" again incase he didnt hear me very well before. He said i should enter. Noticed that he didnt say where he was going like every other cab driver did. He only signalled to me. In my mind i was like why did this man stop right in front of me to ask where i was going? In the car was the driver, a man in front, and a woman and another man behind. I entered and sat next to the woman. Funny enough i didnt greet any one (unlike me). We barely went far when the man behind said he was alighting at the next bus stop. He handed over his money to the driver and also told him he has a ghana must go bag in the booth of the car. The driver asked him, so na you get that ghana must go bag wey nearly put me for trouble? That he wasnt go to stop for him bla bla bla. Then the man infront was begging him to drop him that he is taking him far from his bus stop. The waman also told the driver to drop him. The driver kept going and i now heard him say, "sister make i tell you wetin happen". I said "ehen" in my mind and wetin concern me. I just told him to please drop me that i'm not going again. I opened the moving car before he even stopped and they were all asking me you no go wait make the car stop? That's how i jumped out and was save. I dropped it was difficult getting another cab had to trek some distance. But in my mind i really wanted to see the end of the drama! Wonder what they would have used be for. 1 Like 1 Share |

I had to send dis as a BC to my friends cos I realise the thing about this one chance people, u can be a victim if youve never heard of them or a particular style they use. I just want to use this medium to explain the "new" or probably old method (if u are already aware) of one chance people. once a victim enters the car as the last passenger (3rd or 4th at d back seat), they start complaints at the back that the car is too tight, by this time, they must have passed the bustop, dey now suggest that the victim should go to the front and join the other passenger there , convincing you that he/she will soon drop along the road. Most times, you may oblige and go to the front seat... once u enter, dey ask you to jam the door severally, driver keeps saying "that door never lock well", since ure by the door , you keep trying to lock it or press down the lock button... during this period , ur mind may not be on ur bag ,they can open ur bag and steal any valuables (phone, laptop, money, etc) Note that you may become angry at this point and say infact you want to drop or they suggest you just drop, then they drive off.. please it has happened twice to people I know esp in Abuja... once u enter public cars, no matter the circumstances, hold ur bag tight in front of you like a baby... and watch out for flimsy stories ( dollars, tomato in the booth, tight chair) etc, whether its one chance or not, just come down quickly... May God help us all. inform others... thanks for your time. Sincerely, 10 Likes 3 Shares |

If we are in a sane country by now plain clothes police men and woman will be everywhere looking like commuters and be arresting this guys, it's just too much, a couple of days ago two girls where dealt with in port harcourt. They where pushed out from a moving taxi and all their belongings have been collected by gun point. I do watch BAIT CARS and I give thumbs up to the US police. 4 Likes |

@VickyRotex l dey feel u, joor! Had the same experience some time in 2013. Funny enough, the format was strikingly similar - the same Abuja o! Twas my first ever experience of being one-chanced so foolishly, l never felt l was in any real danger! Boarded the cab @ Kubwa '2nd' NNPC gate going to Brickcity just after and opp Kagini. l shudder now to think l was actually full of pity for the dirty guy who the driver wanted to 'oppress'! LOL What saved me was my total lack of interest in 'my share' of the loot. l was even 'advising' the driver sef! He promptly ground to a halt and practically shoved me out of the car before speeding off! Na as l reach house na im my sister manage convince (with difficulty kwa) that l had just narrowly escaped being 'one-chanced'! Moral: GREED ALWAYS PUTS ONE IN HARM'S WAY! 3 Likes 1 Share |
