Just called them and they request for a letter instructing them to extend the e-dividend mandate to other firms.....I will do that by Monday....

Since I was profile for e-dividend,I believe it should automatically reflects on all the stocks under African Prudential including future purchases from other firms...........I have mailed then and I will have to wait till next week to sort things out........

It doesn't work like that. You must inform the registrars to apply the existing mandate to your other accounts with other brokers. Even if you have stock ABC with an existing e-dividend mandate and you decide to buy more shares of stock ABC, you still need to ask the registrars to apply existing mandates otherwise you will receive part of your dividends by post. I had this experience with Veritas registrars when they were paying part of my dividends in my bank account and the rest by sending dividend warrants to my post.

Its ok,I will have to sort it out.....But is a no brainer since I have been registered for e-dividend and every dividend under my name must go into the same account......
Its

It's very disappointing and frustrating that this cannot be done automatically. This is part of the reason why unclaimed dividends keep piling up and SEC is not helping matters at all.

I just hope they will accept scanned copies....Including old school First Registrars........

I have had this experience also and I think it depends on the registrars sometimes also. My case is slightly different though.

I have two stock broking accounts with the same stock broker... and I have company stocks shared between the accounts. The ones in First Registrars are treated as two different accounts and cheques are paid separately. In Union Bank Registrars (now GTL registrars I think), my two accounts are treated as one from a registrar perspective and I receive one cheque same thing happens to bonuses, split between the two acounts in 1st Registrars and lumped into one account in GTL. I personally do not see anything wrong in either way.

Nigeria stock market will become bullish after the elections, naira will gather more strength against the dollar, This is an investment year, prices will never be this low till 7 years time, those still waiting for FBNH to go low 7naira/share, bye bye! better queue up on monday, in as much GTB is heading 30 naira, this bearish season, 1st tier bank stocks will sell for 50naira per share again when better dividends and bonuses start dropping like it used to be, 1:1 bonus. 1:2 bonus etc.
Some of these banks already have this tradition.
Keep accumulation of your FBNH, you wont regret it in the next 3 years.

Hopevile!!

when there is an existing mandate with any registrars, I would normally deal with them by email. Some of them needed several reminders. Eventually they were all effected! I made it plain to them that i am a non-resident nigerian so no cumbersome requirement. The only one that gave me a bit of headache was Centurion until i escalated it to the deputy registrar

Please how do I go about activating my e-dividend warrants as a non-resident Nigerian? With the requirement of going to your bank for signature, is there anything I can do to get them activated without me coming to Nigeria?

Thanks

You have to do it physically in the 1st instance then subsequent ones could be done electronically (in my case anyway)

Complete and sign the e-dividend form and send it by post to Naija. Then ask any of your relatives to take the form to your bank to affix their signature. After the bank's signature your relative should post it to the registrars. A registered post is recommended. Some branches of First bank doesn't charge for this service. Follow up with an email to the registrars to confirm whether they have received your post. You may also need to ask your broker to send a specimen of your signature to the registrars, if you bought from the secondary market.

Thank you guys. Sure I can get the form to any branch of my bank to get their signature affixed through my relative? I really need to get this sorted since I have not claimed any dividend from my investments for the past 6 years because I'm away. Though I do get dividend warrants by post that are all expired.

Did you say "dd with charts" Chai, the stock that will overwhelm your dd skills is currently doing push-ups grin grin grin

And nor let pa emma himself catch you saying this. He will sit you down for a lifetime lecture cheesy

BTW, if you really do charts, you should know some technical indicators that incorporate volume and how to use them. Using volume to predict price action also comes with experience... Each trade volume implies Buy and Sell and if you have been following a stock well, you will know how to interpret the trade volume.
thanks you sir, for the lecture. How i wish pa emma will sit me down for a lifetime lecture. We are making money this year!

@ All I hail.
For the newbies (whom I assume are keen to trade and are not intent on long term investments), an earlier poster here mentioned DD using charts while the Sage gave very candid and invaluable advice above.
In my experience in the NSE, the more you see the less you understand. You can make money on almost every stock on our bourse (save for the deadwoods). Charts will mislead but may be accurate occasionally. Brokers/individuals that trade can make your chart show what they want you to see (both volume and price action e.g stdinsure, rtbriscoe, transexpr, costain etc) .... This game is one of fastest fingers first, either to enter or to exit. Don't gamble what you cant afford to lose. Dont over diversify. You dont have to be in every stock gaining. Cut your losses short and let your winners run (very vital so you know when to exit). Most importantly be observant, its unbelievable how much you can make from market making activities.
Thank you sir, for your candid lecture. God bless
