Is there hope for this man! by Nobody: 5:27pm On Apr 14, 2015
Life can be funny at times. He graduated in the year 2012 from one of the most reputable federal univesity in Northern Nigeria, with very attractive grades. Late last year his uncle (now late) gave him a sum of 30,000 to apply for Msc program, he also promised to finance the program...but has fate will have it, his uncle is late now. Today he got the news dat he has bin admitted, instead of shouting for joy he burst into tears. He said there is no means of getting a total of about 140k to pay d school fees and acceptance fees.
1. Nairalanders pls are there funding opportunities available for people in dis situation
2. Is it also true dat if he fails to accept d admission nw, he wont be consider again in future (the university is U.I)?.
He works in a firm dat presently pay him 10,000 per month, T.fare of 4500.
Pls i need advice, so i can calm d young man down

Processing a scholarship application usually takes a little time as they consider a lot of factors(e.g the course of study, how the knowledge acquired can be used to develop the nation's economy bla bla bla).

He should patiently wait if its been clearly stated that successful applicants will be notified, but if they are silent, then he should mail them (preferable after a week or two of the closing date) and inquire of his status.

Meanwhile,he can also talk to his current employers, who knows, they might just sponsor him especially if the knowledge to be acquired will be of benefit to them. Plus try a state scholarship.

All I'm saying is,he should exhaust every available opportunity, the worst that can happen is he gets a NO,but at least,he'll know he tried.

Sorry about his uncle, they say everything happen for a reason,I guess sometimes,we just wish we can at least know what the reason is. If it will make him feel any better,I'm in the same situation, got admission,no sponsor! He's got to be strong and against all odds, keep hoping...it is well.

Of cause he'll be consideredsmiley, plus I don't know of UI but some schools give the candidate enough time to decide whether to accept the offer or not. In my case for instance,I have from now till 31st Aug to make that decision.
