What I know is that Governor Ameachi employed a large number of teachers mostly graduates. I think its about 13,000 or so. They had to meet at a stadium to collect their employment letters. I have friends and a relative who had graduated and had been unemployed for years before this opportunity came. And their pay is okay. Also i know that Ameachi made education free from Primary to secondary school. It is truly free of charge. The girl that sells recharge card to me couldn't afford fees for her son as a single mum. I told her to go to a nearby government school to enroll the boy. And indeed when she got there she found out it was indeed free including books. You can imagine the thousands of children in Rivers state being sponsored to school freely. Next is free health care services in government hospitals in rivers state. So many people have benefited from this and there is no age barrier to this. Finally, I know that Doctors employed by the Rivers State government drive brand new cars courtesy of Ameachi's administration.
This few projects I listed I am 100% sure of them. And no you don't need to be an indigene to benefit from any of these. As long one is a resident in Rivers state the person was sure to benefit from this programmes. I see many people hate this man. And i don't really know why.

I love amaechi - and feel bad at how the rivers crisis played out.

Had he known he should have just looted as much as possible and moved on with his life. Clearly the Rivers people, like the Ekiti people know nothing about biting the fingers that feed them.

I look forward to watching them suffer at the hands of the thugs they nominated to rule.

Buhari dare not even involve himself in any matters of misappropriation when it comes to those 2 states!

Let the states see the work of their hands!

Don't mind the ediot!!!!!! I am a beneficiary of these policies n projects of amaechi I must confess. My daughter got her teeth removed at dental clinic for free. I my younger sis had her son free at d garrison health centre. Many of those pple causing cudnt send their kids to school before amaechi came on board. Schooling in Rivers state is free up until ss3 with books, bags in very comfy environment.

To have a baby thru ceaserian section isbtwn 160k 350k but its free in my state. Or are these amenities not for the poor?
What is paining me is that, among the people cursing Ameachi are still part of those enjoying his administration in one way or the other. Some of the people cursing Ameachi have themselves and their families enjoyed free schooling for their kids, free health care and even some of their children who have been sitting at home for years are now employed as teachers by this same Ameachi. Everyone now has something bad to say about him. I cannot imagine how the new Rivers state will look like under Wike a thug, and his boys well known for violence.

Yes I was one of the ardent supporters of Amaechi until he decided to abandon a cause that will see the common people through and left on a personal vendetta and interests and that is not the true mark of a good leader.

When he started I praised him to high heavens until he forgot that we were a people that needed him for other purposes but he left for his own purpose.

Amaechi worked and had a great plan and I will always give it to him until he started leaving his Port Harcourt business to fight the man in Abuja and finally lured by these strange bedfellows in Alausa and he lost it and went rogue on every Rivers man that believed in him.

He lost it.

Haba, why are u turning the truth on it's head just because you want to please yourself? This is another record low you are sinking to. Amaechi just woke up one morning and started fighting the man at the center for no just reason? What caused the rancour in the first place is being thrown into the dustbin simply because you narrow-minded and sub-cultural hacks want the story to sound in your favor.

Amaechi gave gej 2 million vote in 2011, no one can beat that, not even you, Mr tyreless truck undecided.

@OP you have no idea as to what transpired between Amaechi and PEJ in Okrika. You people are good at telling half truths. Anyway, Amaechi can be your hero but as long as Ikwerre, Rivers State, Niger Delta and Eastern region are concermed, he is a good riddance. Let me assure you that Abuja is not our home and heritage, our respective localities are. Politics is local! You can make Amaechi SGF or Chief of Staff to Buhari, he remains an "afonja" to the entire Niger Delta. He remains a boy-boy to his Abuja masters but a nonentity to us. As time progresses, he will hear from us(not violence). We will use him as an example to other ND Afonjas. You can't spend my money on a party and expect me to clap for you.

He has been worthless as Governor since 2013! Good riddance to the "Niger Delta Afonja"

You are by no means the mouth piece of Niger deltans, speak for yourself and take responsibility for your comments, action, and inaction.

Your line of thought is so strange and obscure.

@ OP,in as much as I commend your effort and respect your view, I am of the opinion that this is either a sponsored thread,or you do not reside anywhere near Rivers State.

You listed a lot of projects as Amaechi's achievements, but I'll like to inform you that many of them are either non-existent or abandoned. I've been to Ikuru town recently and some other riverine towns. The picture is not as good as you attempt to paint it. Anyone in PH who knows well about the monorail project will probably be ROTF and laughing @ your mention of that project. You clearly took a master-plan(a document of intentions) and portrayed it as achievements(tangible fulfilment of intentions).

Anyone who says Amaechi was never a performer would be clearly not saying the truth. But Amaechi's glory were in his 1st tenure. The man obviously had a vision, but never got to his destination because of the various ego wars he embarked on in his last 4yrs. He made enemies everywhere up to his hometown. Granted, he had reasons to step on toes, but as a leader, you don't engage in 'street fights'. There are ways leaders settle scores and it's definitely not the 'Aluta continua' method.

Amaechi is like a little boy @ the beach, who 'commandeered' some sand space and painstakenly built a wonderful sandcastle(and got a lot of cheers and applause in the process). Only to destroy most of this wonderful construction while fighting with other kids who either tried to play around his sandcastle or refused to join in cheering him.

Amaechi allowed distractors drag him into numerous 'street fights' and many Rivers people watched-on in disdain. He didn't realize that his distractors had nothing to lose, but he did...his reputation. A swollen ego from 4yrs of accolades had blinded him. Had he remained focused, his name would have been written in gold FOREVER in Rivers state.

Gov Ameachi stayed almost a full year as Gov of Rivers state without a political party. He needed to move on so must align with what will protect his intreast. In his heart of heart it was not his will. Ameachi remains a phenomenon.

I totally agree the thread is sponsored but the truth still remains for those of us living in PH, especially those of us that witnessed Dr Peter Odili's tenure,Amaechi is worth all the hype. He really transformed Rivers state. All that's listed is verifiable and I can tell you Amaechi can stand tall and tell the world he's tried.

because something has a link and can be read online doesn't make it a fact. For those calling Ameachi a hero, go to Okrika and see for yourself PEJ was just defending her people. Okrika people don't even have space to build houses for themselves so if you go around demolishing houses where do you want the people to live?
2. Check all the roads in Port Harcourt he was busy awarding political contracts, go and see the Elelenwo Apkajo road Abi is that one also a federal road?
3. The popular monorail has he completed it? what is the purpose of the monorail? Why does it cover such a short distance? why wasn't it constructed in an area that suffers serious traffic every morning? e.g Aba road. When it's completed that's if it'll be completed I think it'll only be used by children who want to have fun and enjoy train rides.
4. what about pensioners in Rivers State that haven't been paid for months while Ameachi was busy jetting around offering state funds to APC for campaign? What about Rivers workers that are not paid on time?
5. If you talk about the model schools how many are been properly utilized and managed?
6. Ameachi had misplaced priorities, if you think contrary please tell us one well executed project in Rivers State.
I don't need to post links, you can all go and check this things out for yourselves, posting links doesn't justify something as correct blogs and newspapers post wrong information every time just to give more credit to whoever they are supporting.

OP, I would have loved you to divide these achievements in two parts.

One, when he was in PDP and the other when he joined APC.

Why did he all of a sudden started scamming the Rivers state people and using Rivers money to support APC campaign at the expense of the masses?
