overcrowding could have caused that. isolating the runts is a good idea. keep feeding them on growers mash. give them probiotics and vitamins. they will catch up with the others in no time. u should have discovered this earlier on |

Hello Great Farmers, I started following this thread early this year and has learnt a lot! Also drawn inspiration to pursue something I have always wanted to do. I would tell my story so far in pics. Acquisition and clearing of land. it was really more of a forest.

The story continues .......... The land is for our "trial farm" as our mission is to develop into "technology-driven integrated farm". its a one acre land. We started developing a poultry farm.

The poultry pen is a 120ft by 30ft, planned to house about 3,000 layers. The poultry costs is around N2m ( I think its on the high side), but its all a learning process! We could have been efficient in the use of resources. The pen was built using metal poles (not the usual wood), granite (not gravel as commonly done), we used a concrete mixer, etc. The pen would be more durable, but cost? 1 Like

The floor was done in a full day. Challenges with the omo-onile as usual to collect one levy or the other. The concrete mixer broke down, rain came down ......, but we remain undaunted. 1 Like

We arranged for 34 units of locally fabricated cages. These are 96-bird capacity cages. Our "fabricator did a good job (in my assessment) and was through in 3 weeks 2 days. 1 Like
