The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday stated that the current drop in oil prices offers a unique opportunity for Nigeria and seven other oil-producing countries in Africa to implement politically difficult oil subsidy reforms.http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/drop-in-oil-prices-opportunity-for-subsidy-reform-says-imf/207121/ 2 Likes |

What policies of this IMF has helped Nigeria grow? Is Nigeria the only country with Subsidies? I am glad Gen. Buhari is president because he does not listen to these IMF people. He did not then and he won't now. As soon as he curbs out corruption in the NNPC, we will enjoy Subsidies without losing money to subsidy thieves. Crude Oil prices were lower than it is and we still enjoyed Subsidies. 46 Likes 2 Shares |

Good. There nothing like subsidy. It's just a way of stealing public fund. If not for the senseless leaders we have. Petrol and other products is not expected to be sold above 40 Naira per litre. Does it even make any sense? When crude oil rose to 155 dollars per barrel, we bought Petrol for N97 Naira, now that it is about 52 dollars per barrel, we are still buying for N87. May lightning bolt fire Obasanjo wherever he is for increasing fuel price from N21 (1999) to N75 (2007) and GEJ too. Wicked old fools. 55 Likes 1 Share |

Regardless of the IMF'S checkered history, fuel subsidy programs are incubation centers for corruption (at least in the Nigerian context) and should be completely scrapped. Studies have shown the actual end user cost of petrol in Nigeria to be N35/litre . Petroleum subsidy in Nigeria is simply a scam. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

I have always kicked against removing fuel subsidy because I believe that it is a right of Nigerians to enjoy the so-called subsidy which should never have been if we had done what was required. If our refineries were working, we will surely not be talking of subsidy or no subsidy. Given that we failed to make our refineries work, the previous subsidies removed by OBJ and GEJ were not judiciously spent. They were looted. For all intent and purpose, I do not think Nigerians are completely against removing subsidy if they are sure of getting good deals in return especially when the excess income from crude oil is set aside for developmental projects as witnessed during the PTF era. 4 Likes |

And they said GEJ didn't know what he was doing? Smh. This shows that we were on the right course, but some gullible people were deceived and they kept dancing and protesting against it. He had Nigeria's best interest at heart, but the people who needed the govt to do everything for them, didn't give him a chance. Back to one chance. 37 Likes 2 Shares |

way to go. but IMF is one of the problems in Nigeria. they deliberately kill our economy with forced policies. Bleep themas long as subsidy removal doesn't mean increase in fuel price then we are good. |
