This is one issue that has not ceased to baffle me! Why are most Nigerian women bad drivers?

It is very common for you to see a woman who has driven a car for almost 7 years still messing up on our roads big time!!! Have u ever been in a public vehicle whereby the driver of the vehicle in front of the one you are in makes a silly driving mistake? Just listen to the comments those in the vehicle you are in would make . You would hear comments like 'Ah, na woman na' or 'mtchewww...no be woman'? Mind you, they have made these comments when they haven't even seen the driver that made the silly mistake! . Guess what? Out of all the said cases I have witnessed, 97% actually turned out to be women!!! Below are some of the silly driving mistakes most women do that have made them very poor drivers:

1) Most women hardly watch out if another vehicle is coming before entering the road when coming from an opposite direction

2) Most women hardly make use of their side mirrors and reverse mirror to see the activities of vehicles taking place behind them, especially when there's traffic jam. That's why they might swerve unexpectedly because they don't care if vehicles are coming behind them! Some are just okay that their car is moving . That's their major concern!

3) Even those that have driven for years are fond of this! They drive slowly in the middle of the road instead of using the slow lane on the road; some would even occupy the speed lane, yet, driving slowly! For ur mind, u feel say na armoured tank u dey drive abi? Dem never jam ur motor scatter before!

4) Most women hardly make use of their indicators when they intend parking or when they want to swerve into another lane! Very terrible!...and you have been driving for years?

5) There's a driving rule that states that 'You don't enter a major road with the back of your car when reversing'. I see women on daily basis flagrantly ignoring this! When your vehicle get bashed, you will be the first to shout!

6) One of the qualities of a good driver is to accept and appreciate advice and corrections from other road users when you make a driving mistake...but reason properly before you render such corrections to a driver who has made a silly mistake, especially, if she is a woman! . Lest, you get ready to receive loads, dozens and bags of insults!!!

6) I bet you, most Nigerian women don't even know how a car works; how its movement takes place. All they know is that it is moving and they are behind the steering-wheel! When you know about car parts and can detect a problem in your car easily, it would help to reduce the rate at which you drive badly. It will save others the stress associated with your car breaking down on the road when you could have fixed it earlier on.

These make me wonder whether vehicles were specifically made for men before the intrusion of women Are the brains of females performing below capacity in driving? Does it mean they cannot comprehend simple driving rules or are these simple driving rules more complex than their reasoning faculty could take?

Some men are worse than most women in driving, poor decision making, slow in thinking, driving slowly on fast lane, improper parking in parking lots, unable to reverse properly, tyres not properly aligned after parking etc. I can go on and on. The point is, not just women some men have no business being behind the wheel.

You should not generalise. A danfo driver does almost every thing you mentioned and more.

Very annoying and quick to insult when you correct them

I know some men make such mistakes too but 97% of such mistakes are committed by women!

I can't categorically say women are bad drivers but I make it a point of duty not to challenge a woman driving a CUV or SUV especially the land cruisers and prado owners, they are very aggressive and willing to cause trouble because they feel they can easily call whoever they want to call and stir up trouble.

I think women are actually 'unnecessarily careful' which men may see as clumsy.

Feel free to stand at your choice road tomorrow, take a look at the cars being driven by male/females _ come back and tell me which is in a better condition.

I heard that people even prefer to buy used cars driven by a female: because they believe it hasn't seen demons.

So saying 'na woman' when a mistake is made is just a boring stereotype. I've had men chase me...while flashing me, just to give me the thumbs up.

You need to define what you mean by being 'careful'. Arw you being careful when you enter the road without observing whether a car is coming from the other side? Are you being careful when you don't always use your reverse mirror and side mirrors? Are you being careful when you drive slowly on the SPEED lane? Are you being careful when you don't even know the names of the components that make your vehicle moves? Common! You need to come up with something better!

I use to be of the opinion that Nigerian ladies were good drivers, untill i started having some experience on the road with women on the steering wheel you dare not overtake or try to get on the road when coming from an adjoining streets or lanes. Its a shame i use to see ladies as a patient driver, but i have been proven wrong several times. I hope i wont be like that when i start driving.
Not all women though. I have be been inside a car while a lady is driving several times, it wasnt bad.

That said, I've seen women drive madly. Some will make you wonder if they are truly females.

Why this question? Seriously why? What has gender got to do with driving? Seems you are bored @Ops.... my mum is a great driver as well as most of her friends, same as popsy! most traffic offenders are male, I seldom see female begging LASMA or POLICE.... it's really no issue! both gender drive well and also mess up big time sometimes.

yeah, all nigerian women are bad/sluggish drivers except my aunty, d way she take dey drive ehn, its like she drive danfo for first life, then drive cross country for second life, then come dis present life to drive private. she dey cable lagos to benin under 4hrs, na she make me love benz so.
