Why Is It Difficult To Find Job In Warri A Place That Play Host To Oil Company by naijaspeak(m): 11:10pm On Apr 19, 2015 |
[size=15pt]Warri as a city stands at the centre point of Nigeria's oil and gas business, as it play host to several or numerous oil companies, although some companies have left for port harcourt such as Shell. I would like to know why quality jobs are hardly publish in Warri or delta state. Shoprite a south african shopping mall that the delta state government brought to effurun delta state has since carried out secret recruitments despite the fact that construction work is still ongoing at the building sites as at the moment. It is been repeatedly said that community crisis with oil companies seem to be responsible for the actions of this oil companies as they are being troubled by restive youth and community leaders to pay compensation. This often made them to operate secretly through mobile offices such as hotel rooms and then return to their base at port harcourt. Some oil companies and oil servicing companies often remove the sign post of their companies from their frontage. I think there is more to this warri jobs issues. Others can contribute. Most oil companies have left your Warri because the business environment is not conducive. There are strong attachments to ethnicity, community agitations, union issues and youth activities. Business owners want to devote their time in profitable growth and not arguing with different characters. The security situation in Warri is also getting out of hand; with kidnappings and robberies everyday. Nobody wants to be woken up with the sounds of gunfire. Warri no dey carry last is a man irony. 2 Likes |

kITATITA: Thanks, you made an interesting points here, I hope and pray that Warri people ( the youths and community leaders ) will change from their conducts. Since Shell left Warri town, business have reduced as there is little cash flow. When Shell was around money use to circulates and warri business was growing but that era is gone because of the bad character of the youths of Warri and its environ. 1 Like |

naijaspeak: When was the last time you saw an expatriate driving himself in Warri. The companies have to rely on community list for their workforce. And community workers come with attitude. Every now and then businesses are invaded for one payment or the other. It's pathetic how the once bubbling city has brought itself to the knee. 1 Like |

I feel sad for Warri especially the young people that are looking for jobs in Warri and its environ as they will experience challenging times finding jobs as the attitude of the people is very bad, selfish and greedy. Take for example, President Goodluck Jonathan just recently laid the ground breaking ceremony of the EPZ projects in Ogidigben and Gbaramatu kingdom. This is a multi trillion naira project that is expected to bring more jobs to the youth of the community and Nigerians at large but instead of the people there to embrace peace and work together to enjoy the projects they were busy fighting for ownership and control of the project. The name of the town that will be used in naming the projects became a centre of tension between the Ijaws and the Itsekiri who wants to have generous control of the projects in their domain. They seem to forget that this project is a federal government projects that should belong to all Nigerians and not just Ijaws and the Itsekiri. It is infact a long story but the issues goes to explains how job issue is in delta state and warri in particular. There is money in Delta state but the greed and hatred is very high in Delta state and there is no unity. One person want to eat alone at the expense of others. It is a sad story. It is infact " what a white man will call penny wise, pound foolish 1 Like |

jieta:Who are they suppose to kidnap when all the big men in town are the Ogas of the Youths? Ehn? The issue raised here is the truth. Warri is now a ghost of itself and is just a glorified Parasitic town like we have in states like Borno or Edo state? They just get large monthly allocation and most people tap into it. Deve today and deve tomorrow done chase the serious businesses them away. 2 Likes |
