CharlesPhc:
[b]On an ideal situation (Road Conditions, Diversions, Weather Conditions, Traffic, etc. affect driving distance), a driving journey from Lagos to Abuja by road (Lagos --> Abuja) is approximately 587 Minutes - 9 hour(s) 47 minutes(s). That means it would take a car in good working condition just approximately 10 hours from Lagos to Abuja by the route on the Map below.

Having said that, what time would it take an average person to walk the same distance? How many hours would he have to walk each day? And in how many days would he complete his journey?

Let's assume Buhari was officially declared winner of the election on the 30th of March 2015 and our trekking guy started his journey on the 2nd of April 2015....!!! If by 20th of April 2015 Hamisu Abubakar arrived the FCT on foot, it is also confortable to conclude that it took him 18days to walk from Lagos to Abuja on foot. 24 Hours in a day by 18days would be 432 Hours.... How many hours did he walk each day to complete his task in 18 days considering the fact that from Lagos to Abuja is approximately 736.6km? Still loading.........

So u actually believe dt shiiiit

the guy has really tried and i believed he treked from lagos to abuja in 19 days. Lagos to Abuja is 662Km. Average
walking speed is 5.0km/hr. (662km)
÷ (5.0km/hr) = 132.4 hours. The guy
had 19 days = 456 hrs. or you can take it like this as some said he treked for 18 days . 5km/hr multiply by the number of days divide by the distance i.e 5×18=90 , therefore 662km÷90km/hr=7.36hrs a day.that means that he trekrd for 7 hours and 36 minutes everyday

It is fun being crazy apart from excessive walking, Lagos to London is a mere 5004km, you could do it in under 2months.

Have fun dude and take enough rest on your way to utopia..

Then it appears possible. Assuming he walks for 12 hours everyday, walking for 18 days gives us 216 hours of walk. Multiply that by 5 and you have 1080KM.

Lagos to Abuja is 724KM. That means our guy rested a whole lot while on the way. cheesy

He walked full 12 hours non stop everyday Everyday Like seriously Una dey Jones oh!!!

Except you develop a complex mathematical model for it, I don't see how you can know for certain if it's possible to walk or if he did walk from Lagos to Abj in that time....cos there are some many factors to consider:
* did he follow conventional car route?
* how many mins/hours did he take to rest, eat and/ sleep, chat?
* at what pace was he walking
* did he maintain the same pace all through the journey?...he could jug a while

Now assuming he lag in one or more of the above which still doesn't account for all the factors or parameters in this context, then we can take the lag as "U"...and give a linear model as:

¥ = a + bC + b2R + b3P + .... + U

Where ¥ = number of hours it took him
a = constant
b = coefficients
U = error term
In theory, it means the number of hours it took him to walk the journey depends on the distance C, rest hours R, walking pace P and other factors.

The statisticians and mathematicians can take it from here *sigh*

On point!!!

Nomads from the north do this all the time, its noting new.
Nomads don't use the commercial transit route.
The guy might come from a NOMADIC family.

To help, you only need to know how many hours he is free to walk in a day.
His maintaining the same speed is not an issue because not even cars do that. You will have to measure the average velocity of the guy.

Check the number of days, number of walk hours per day and the number of days, then you can measure his average speed. You can assume he walks between 6 am to 6 pm daily.

You may want to find out if he took some days off.

As much as I don't like APC and their propaganda, A typical aboki can do it. Guys we have trekking machines o.

while we were serving(NYSC) we trekked about 30 kilometers to-fro. while boys dey finish water inside water bottle those mallams no even bother taste anything. some of them carry water go-come.

On a serious note , though tough but it is doable. you no go know say leg dey move until u dey drive for traffic and see the distance men dey cover with leg. For things like this I believe the guy can cover 60km daily for the first 6 days , then slow down as he gets weaker . the key will be to start the trek very early in the morning so that at noon when the scotching sun shows up , he will be getting set to retire.

FOR MY MIND I KNOW SAY I FIT TREK LAGOS TO IBADAN IN 3 DAYS. grin

Simple, the guy should have a good rest in Abuja and then trek back to Lagos and should be documented, anything short of that is just pure hoax.
