Setaje: Eventually Ladipo and computer village will have to leave their present sites...it's not hard to figure out. Once the LASG is ready to move them out...they will be moved out. 5 Likes |

Demdem:I guess there is Baba Oloja at Alaba International Market and Trade Fair that's why the markets have been peaceful. Abeg carry that your baba oloja mentally comot for road joor! Where Igbos are dominated in a market,we do not need any Baba Oloja. Period! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Kunle Afolayon produced an award winning block buster movie : October 1. The movie is still showing in the cinemas it hasnt been released in the market, but Alas all the useless Heebo boys have pirated the movie at the Alaba market. It is now being sold in the traffic for peanut 12 Likes 1 Share |

MzJackBaueress:It can be shut if the problem continues. The issue is not that of a babaloja (ignore the warriors). They should find a solution so as to resolve it. If this gets to a point where Alausa is called....it is holiday for everyone for a month 1 Like |

Mynd44: Who changes or alters a city master plan? The truth is LASG would have moved those people out of that place a long time ago.....if not for the meaning some people will pin to it......but eventually it will go. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Ib0t0t0deysmell: The security forces are picking them up.......they've all disappeared as at yesterday from the roads. It was really sad seeing those boys selling those pirated CDs...that is the sweat of a man gone down the drain by the greed of some people. 13 Likes |

Mynd44:even if Ladipo market has to be shut,it will not be for the problems lingering. For now,the market remains in Mushin LG unless the government wants to move it to a more conducive environment. |
Re: Crisis: Lagos Threatens To Shut Ladipo Market. by Mynd44: 11:52am On Apr 21, 2015 |
MzJackBaueress:Most of these markets have a babaloja. But the traders also have representatives who meet the babaloja so he is hardly seen. They meet regular to discuss issues mostly cos the traders will need someone on the traditional council looking out for them and the Oba/Baale will want one of his own(who understands the culture) to be his mouth piece there. What Demdem is calling for is a Babaloja to enforce discipline which no one has time for. 2 Likes |

MzJackBaueress: We have more non Ibos in these markets u mentioned than Ladipo IMO. Besides these ibos seems to be more sensible the ones in Ladipo. These ones are troublemakers and have proven not to be able to conduct themselves in a civilised manner and that explains the use of Baba Oloja to bring sense back. The igbos are dominated in a market on Yoruba Land. Land owners can chose to give u a baba oloja if they deemed fit especially if u are troublesome, afterall u are on their land. 4 Likes |

MzJackBaueress:Wait ooo. You are getting this wrong. When the report says shut, they don't mean permanent closure oooo. They mean close the market until the problem is completely resolved to stop the loss of lives and property. Just like when Mile 12 and Ketu were shut due to sanitary issues and they were opened when the issues were addressed 3 Likes |

ilugunboy:Its very painful. That guy invested a lot of money, resources, time, intellect into the making of that film just for one useless Shukudi to pirate the movie. The security forces shouldnt only arrest their 'foot soldier's' they could go inside Alaba market itself and dismantle their piracy network totally 1 Like |

ilugunboy: One thing I have noticed about Nigeria and lagos in particular is that we do not understand that there is town planning. Government owned land earmarked for schools and hospitals. Etc. Yet we complain of government not doing our roads etc when some people built houses untop of drainage and close to canals.... every area in lagos has a plan. Some even build houses and turn a street into a close. If omo onile is selling to you, why won't u go and make enquires from lagos state town planning. The moment government wake up to their responsibility, a lot of things will go and it will affect people. As for Ladipo, they might not necessarily move them, they can find a large expanse of land in ilupeju or turn an unused factory into an ultra modern market for spare parts. To me it makes more sense than totally moving them. But that computer village is very tricky. The only solution I see there is for it to be removed. 5 Likes |

Demdem:That's a blatant lie! As long as the markets are dominated by Igbos,a baba oloja is not needed. What is it the baba oloja will do that other people cannot do? Market like Alaba Int'l is under the management of Ojo local government. Why then do they need a baba oloja? To do what? |

For d fact that d LG boss mentioned both of d warrying groups are igbos show they have hand in it. This time using an igbo to fight igbo so as to see excuse to close d market 2 Likes |

Setaje: You are very correct.....but the part in bold is contradictory..when you suggest that they should find a large expanse of land somewhere else..you are also implying they move them out of their present at Ladipo, Papa Ajao and some parts of Palm Avenue.... 1 Like |

MzJackBaueress:Alaba might have a babaloja but not one who is actively involved in the day to day running. Just comes around meets the leaders and is not even known. The babaloja will probably be a titled chief in the area and his duty will be to report the activities and needs to the traditional ruler there. The market themselves have a union which disciplines, in charge of sanitary issues etc. Most markets in this part of the world have one but they might be active or not active. Active here means whether they are seen or not 2 Likes |

Mynd44: The one needed in Ladipo is a very brutal baba Oloja capable of curtailing the excesses of these trouble makers. This one must be seen and feared unless he will be trampled upon. An "Adedibu" like babaoloja is best suited for Ladipo. 2 Likes |
