online Feminism,(Nairaland as a case study) has seemed to grow in popularity amongst women in the past few years and the increase of cries for equality has caused more separation between the sexes . Feminists love to take an aggressive approach to gaining equality, but what about reverse sexism ? Women aren ’ t alone in being “segregated ” and criticized for their sex. Men face discrimination based on their sex too , but where are their cries for change? Feminist movements seem to overpower men when it comes to the media, because of their ultra aggressive campaign in which in turn makes more men feel feminism is "a man-hating" movement. I don ’ t have an issue with feminists and even sometimes find myself adopting their ideals , but aggressive feminists seem to take an approach I highly disagree with. They target men as being the cause of the lack of equality between sexes , but that is not the case. According to a Vanity Fair article , actress Emma Watson, who recently adopted the role of a feminist , acknowledged the term is negatively associated with “man hating” and agrees it has to stop . Aggressive feminism calls for an exchange in power rather than a balance of power, which only adds distance to obtaining equality among the sexes . Before people try and debate how different men and women are , they should evaluate how similar they are . Both sexes are capable of sexism , obtaining a well- paying job and even gaining custody of their children, so is the difference based on who wins ? Equality between sexes is about obtaining a balance between the roles we set for a specific sex, so I highly doubt this debate will end anytime . so to all my nairaland feminist warriors please make do without your aggressive tendencies so that more men and society at large will take your movement more seriously. cc vickybee and co, 3 Likes |

Nairaland men are the aggressive ones and we need to take the bull by the horns. To defeat a roaring lion, you need to employ a stronger tactic. 1 Like |

Not another male on his weekly period. *Rolls eyes* These epileptic flies stir the hornet's nest with threads based on very stu.pid and very, very weak assertions and premises and think the women should not expose these flies illiteracy, incompetence and irrationality. When next you meet your superiors online, you bow like a defeated lizard instead of disturbing the cyberspace with pathetic threads like this with some phony ideals. How many of the so called feminists here start up threads targeting men? Who has time for that nonsense? But the reverse is the case here with educated illiterate Nigerian males unleashing necrotic postulations from the diseased sections of their brains and you expect not to have your brains reset by a more intelligent superior? All of a sudden you turn a blind eye to the crass males here and thought it fit to address females? Bloody Hypocrite. 4 Likes 1 Share |
