People I need your contributions. There are two major conditions I perceive will be the weakness of my application and they're seriously giving me concern. 1. My education gap: I completed my undergraduate studies in 2005. Though I have been working since 2008. I'm anticipating lots of questions coming from the VO as regards my long time away from academics. 2. Sponsor: My elder brother will be funding my education, but he has a permanent residency status in the US. I just want to know how best to approach my interviewer to make my study intentions very clear and unambiguous. And how to prove quickly within the 3,4 mins of interview that I will leave at the completion of my studies I notice they hardly request for documents |

Hello House, I have a quick question, I was issued a us visa(B1/B2) in January 2015 with the purpose of visiting California as a tourist. My trip was planned for March 2015, but I could not make it as my leave from work was not granted, Now I have intention of traveling in July for one month, but my destination is now New York which is contrary to California which I filled in my DS160 form. Will this be a problem at the Port of entry or do I need to email the embassy and notify them of my changed plans? Thanks |

abdkabir:Why not go to California then leave to New York? Why do we like giving ourselves unnecessary issues. |

abdkabir:Was there any annotation on your visa as to your point of destination in the states. |

Folarge06:There was no Annotation, Its Multiple entry.. The visa was issued in Berlin, Germany.. I study in Germany |

abdkabir: You can enter from any state. If you are asked you can say you were no longer interested in Cali. Plans change though. Besides its a tourist visa. Just tell them what they want to hear Am speaking from experience. My documents read new York as final destination. But I came thru TX. Nobody asked anything. |

Richmond996:Thanks... I have always thought the main purpose of visit(if asked at POE) must correlate with what was filled out in the DS160 form |

amanze15: Depending on ur sch. On campus can even be more expensive, especially if there is no special provision for international students. And staying off campus should not affect your grades, since u can easily get houses that are working distance from school. I believe it is better for a graduate student to go for off campus housing close to sch. especially if there is no provision for international family housing in ur sch. It is more comfortable to stay off campus than in d halls, to ease cooking and other tins. To reduce d cost of off campus, u can get fellow african students who are interested and u share apartment together. |

Femoric9 thats sounds more like it, I have been in touch with the african student asso. President who happens to be a nigerian , school happens to be state funded, so they cant really afford tuition waive a lot of out of state students, so good grades would only get both a good job after a year and GA |

slimmy05:Have u considered d cost to him of going to California then to New york even after he has said he no longer has any buisness in California? abdkabir:Doesn't matter what you filled in DS160, as long as you have a valid visa nobody will ask you anything. Where u are headed is entirely your business. If anybody ask u where u r headed its just formality or for conversational purpose. 1 Like |

amanze15: Keep in mind. Housing priorities is mainly for undergrads You're basically at the back burner for housing priority as a grad student. Besides you may not want to shack up with undergrads and their binge drinking habits. Can't redo all that university experience again. If you can handle it. Off k is better. |
