Seems 5weeks still holds...

Hi. I'm new here and hoping to get some helpful advice.
I have gone through quite a number of pages and have found them quite insightful.

I have received an offer to the University of Ottawa, Masters Degree for Fall 2015. From what I have learnt here, using an agent might just be a waste of money.

I have gathered quite a lot of documents I believe are needed for applying. I would like thoughts on this.

Do I
1. Apply online and hope everything will pull through before September?
2. Apply through the paper route at VFS Lekki?
3. Travel to Ghana to apply at VFS in Accra? The processing time on the CIC website says 8 weeks in Ghana as opposed to 31 for Nigeria?

I will appreciate some advice on this.

Apply through paper route its actually faster than the online route for now.
Moreover, I doubt if you can apply from ghana since you're not legalling living there, and if you can you'll be spending a whole lot of money.

I'm planning on applying as an undergraduate study permit. I have gotten all the documents necessary to apply for it. However, I do not have affidavit of sponsorship yet only sponsorship letter. I do not have birth certificate handy either. So I would like an advice from someone that submitted within a one year frame to please share his/her experience and as well the documents submitted. Thank you.

Read thru d thread to see documents pple submitted.

Been a while... Skimmed through the last 5 pages and I noticed some banning has gone on in the past. Interesting! I didn't even know such a thing existed. I also realized this thread has "internal" moderators. Also Interesting!

Being a moderator or a forum like this is not beans and I am not saying we should ban or not ban or whatever but I just hope Oga Siga is a moderator because no one deserves it more than him. I mean, the man has been here since and even after chopping every conceivable Canadian document, he still offers his help CONSISTENTLY. So if anyone is to be entrusted with the power to ban or not, it should be Oga Siga (and we all know he wouldn't threaten us smiley)

Nah, not without his mycic account being updated, he applied via the online route, I'm very sure he checks his mycic like a million times everyday.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by hayqinsbFX: 9:45am On Apr 24, 2015
Okay. Online...

I think online is now slower cos guys hve shrinked some docs too much that VOS cnt even read dem...
Cos on CIC website it states that it's enough reason for delays in application.
Me I'm just saying...

My major fear with online is shrinking my docs too much and making it not visible enough for the VO. Imagine the VO not seeing your most important documents despite packaging a tight app, paper all the way mehn.

Hi!!! smiley
Congrats on your admission to UOttawa. Forgive my excitement, it's just always refreshing to see fellow future students.

As someone already suggested, you need not travel to Accra to submit an application. Just decide on whichever route will be more convenient for you and hope for the very best.
For the processing time, it's hard to tell these days but approximately 2months (paper seems less though), which means you'll well have reasonable time left to prepare.
Cheers.

P.S: the 31weeks doesn't necessarily apply
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by hayqinsbFX: 11:12am On Apr 24, 2015
yeah mehn....
i opted for paper after considering the stress of scanning and shrinking.
in the long run online is slower....the whole passport request and dispatch thingy takes 2 weeks more than paper.

for a fast app just do an upfront medical and submit via paper.......
you'll be waiting just to go pick up your passport next

dbabba:
Hello,

I'm planning to apply on the 3rd of may, however, I don't have a police clearance yet. How do I go about it and how much does it cost? Is it necessary to submit my birth certificate? I would also love to know which process is faster, online or paper application? How do I sign the spaces if I'm going for online application. Thanks

1. No idea, unfortunately, the person with a good contact seems to have been banned but read some pages back, you'll get the information you need.
2. Your birth certificate is the proof of your 'said age' and, I'm assuming it's just as important as your International PP for your application. (Could be wrong though)
3. Paper route seems faster
4. Validating the form, in place of signatures, is all that's needed after completion.

Are you and dbabba the same person? undecided Cos you both are asking similar questions.

So many people have shared their experiences and documents on the thread already. Take out time to read some pages back, that'll definitely give you a better understanding of the whole process.

Help me out pls. The only obstruction I have to submit my application is "NYSC issues". I attached a leave letter from my school's principal but I was advised to remove it cos it will make me look not ready to the VO. I wanna remove NYSC from my application. Thinking of getting a letter from a firm that I have been doing voluntary work with them. My questions are: Can such letter substitute the NYSC thing?
Not stating NYSC at all, will it be acceptable?
Pls attend to me urgently plssss.

NYSC is not needed by the VO..its just an additional document used as prroof of what you have bn doing..

as much as you can try to put something there...
its your course, only you understand what you do, hence company types.
