8 Steps To Grow Your Edges Back Within 2 Months! by MyHairGrowthLag: 3:46pm On Apr 28, 2015 |
So if you are reading this post then you like me have probably damaged your scalp from doing too much to your hair. It is either braids in January, dreads in February, weave in March, Ghana weaving in April and then the cycle continues until we reach December and our natural hair hasn’t even had a chance to see daylight just like a Vampire. Three years ago, I was a weave addict; I used to do weave back to back so much so that none of my friends even knew what my relaxed hair looked like. My hair wasn’t even short, my hair wasn’t even thin, it was 14 inches long and full and thick. But something happened to me that got me thinking about giving my hair a break. I attended a Hair Show and I received a free hair consultation and was informed that my edges were so thin that I was close to developing traction alopecia. So what is that? Traction alopecia is the recession of the hairline due to chronic traction, or hair pulling. So after the consultation, I decided to make a change. Firstly, I changed my hairdresser because the last time I saw her she braided my cornrows so tight that my edges were bleeding. I really didn’t want to leave her because we were close but she her hand was too painful. Secondly, I searched online for mobile hairdressers with the aim to create my own wigs that they could still sew unto my hair. I called it a WIG WEAVE. At this time, I was so obsessed with having weaves in my hair that I couldn’t stop even if I tried. I was an addict. Fast forward two years later. My hairline started to recede so bad that I finally said NO to balding edges. I went to the nearest store and came back with 2 beautiful wigs and I started my wig regime. Within the first 7 weeks I grew my edges back and I stayed off weaves in total for 6 months and left my relaxed hair to grow. Here are eight steps to take to grow your edges back within 2 months! 1. Review your hair care practices. How often do you massage your edges? You need to do this once every 2 days for 2 months nonstop. 2. Review your hair style. Do you wear braids or weaves even though you are going bald? You need to stop immediately, rush to your nearest hair store and buy a wig that is secure but not too tight. I have now fallen in love with Lace Wigs because they pass the Okada bike test and they are more secure than standard wigs. Once upon a time, I was just laughing and shaking my head in public and before I knew it my wig fell off, which was very embarrassing. Remember never to allow your hairdresser to apply glue to your lace wig because you could lose all your edges when it goes wrong. 3. Review the product you are using. Are you using a natural product that contains 3 or more of the following growth activators as the main ingredient? Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Rosemary, Biotin, Ginseng, Moringa, Lavender, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Centella and Zingiber. I can’t remember the product I used 2 years ago but now I use T444Z Hair Food, which contains some of these ingredients. 4. Wash your hair frequently – (If you want to grow your hair not just your edges). How often do you wash your hair? Why is it important to wash your hair frequently? Well natural oils, hair products, scalp build-up and air pollution all build-up on your hair so washing it regularly will keep your hair clean. I suggest you wash your hair once a week or every fortnightly with a sulfate free shampoo. Try and avoid any products that contain sodium lauryl sulfate. Make sure you deep condition it as well. Check out the shampoo and conditioner I recommend. Find out on my website Google myhairgrowthlagos. 5. Understand your hair growth cycle. Do you know that hair sheds naturally and the hairstyle you do could lead to more hair loss? There are four stages of the hair growth cycle, Anagen (Growing), Catagen (Resting), Telogen (Shedding) and Exogen (Dormant) phase. During the shedding (Telogen phase) the hair dies without adequate nourishment and falls out.Approximately 50 to 150 hairs can fall out daily, this is considered to be normal hair shedding. It either falls out on its own or you end up pulling it out through your hair style. Read the article I wrote on my blog. Find out on my website Google myhairgrowthlagos. 6. Review your diet. What does your diet consist of? Eba on Monday, Rice on Tuesday, Amala on Wednesday, Wheat on Thursday, Fried Rice on Friday, Yam on Saturday and Bread on Sunday? Are you getting in all the nutrients you need to grow your hair? Make sure you include the following in your diet. Salmon (Omega 3 fatty acids), Nuts (great source of protein, & biotin), Eggs (Zinc & Iron), Carrots (Vitamin A), Dark Green Vegetables (Vitamin A & C), Lentils (Folic Acid), Poultry (great source of Protein). 7. Document your hair growth. Take photos before you start your journey. Then take photos every 4 weeks after you begin your hair growth regime so you can see for yourself that your hair is growing. If your hair is longer than 10 inches why not create your own hair length shirt so you can see how many inches your hair has grown by. To create one find out on my website Google myhairgrowthlagos. 8. Be consistent and don’t give up. Continue this for 2 months straight until your edges have grown back. Once it has grown back. Continue a good hair regime for the rest of your life. I would suggest you stay away from both weaves and braids for at least 6 months until your scalp is strong. Now it’s all on you to grow your hair. I have shared my knowledge, tips and experience. If you witness no change after following these 8 steps for up to 6 to 9 months then you need to consider seeing a dermatologist for hair loss or visit your doctor in case you have a medical problem. Join the hair revolution and take part in the waist length challenge. Don’t forget ladies to be good not only to your hair but your scalp because traction alopecia isn’t in fashion yet and it never will. Lots of love. No need for all this essay. From my OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE the answer is simple: 1. Apply Jamaican Black Castor Oil to your edges everyday 2. Cover your hair/edges with a silky scarf or bonnet each time you go to bed. See tremendous results within 3 weeks and thank me later! My results after 4 weeks below: 3 Likes 1 Share

waistaa: Yes it is. I personally use Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil but you can get it in any other brand. Remember its crucial to keep ur edges protected in silk while you sleep as cotton pillows or scarfs will cut ur edges. Avoid tight braids and weaves too 1 Like |

lolaredvelvet: lolaredvelvet looking at the picture you posted, your edges was not as bad as mine. You have to remember my scalp was so bad at a point that it was bleeding. My hair was pulling at the root, yours isn't. I am glad that Jamaican Castor Oil worked for you. Have a great day lady! 4 Likes |

MyHairGrowthLag: wow girl, thats awful! This is why im a strong advocate for wigs. . I wore weaves/weavon throughout my late teens and early 20s.. and that's what resulted in the pic i posted...was such a huge detriment to my scalp. The best thing now is just to slap a wig on and once in 6 months rock lose braids for versatility. Black women, we need to start caring for our hair better. Glad ur edges grew back tho.. nice thread 1 Like |
