No job security in this country. My family friend was affected. after 8 years. Don't no where she would start from. Diamond bank is better. At least they do the sacking in the office. Once Oga calls u into the office and the phone is put on speaker from the head office, just no its going down. In some other banks, I heard they sack by text message.

2015 just got real for those workers..

Una never hala.. for those saying we should kick out South African Businesses, that would add another like 20,000 workers to the equation should Shoprite, Standard Chatered Bank, MTN, Multichoice, Park and Shop and co leave Nigeria. Then let's not talk about those indirectly employed by these companies like; Service providers (Diesel, stationeries, maintenance, e.t.c).

Other companies will take their place. Most likely Arabs, Indians or Chinese.

Quite bad. Though we must remember this is a private firm and not a federal agency.

Even Barclays plans to axe 18,000 jobs b/w now till 2018. From pharmaceutical firms to commodities to oil and gas companies. When there's an economic downturn, jobs get axed.

P. S. Schlumberger plans to sack 10,000 employees. Everywhere.

When people say they hate bank jobs, I just wonder undecided

Do you know how much a graduate trainee collects per month?

There are more stressful working conditions than bank jobs.

Other sectors too are laying off staffs. Check oil and gas industry too.

Another airhead talking? Why do we have to lose them before Chinese/Indian/Arabian companies can come? Idiocy is a permanent resident in some people's brain!

its about to hit telecoms soon............

It has affected Telecommunications already. MTN has been laying off staff under the disguise of outsourcing since last year.

A lot contract staff have been laid off while permanent staff were outsourced with only a year's contract guranteed by MTN with the outsourced firms.

Haaa. Wait let me quickly go and beg my MD that the promotion i dey para for no make sense. Make we remain as we dey for now.

And one mumu will be writing about 7 professions that will make ladies rush to marry you, one of which is banking. I just laughed. I sacked that industry years ago and later sacked telecoms. I am rolling non banking financial services and loving my decision.

I've always told people, working in a bank doesn't mean you have a job. They can lay you off at anytime without prior notice

she wasn't born in that company so there is no reason for any sulking or whining, tell her to set a target of 2 months for herself , she should embark on a vocational skill crash course and with God on her side ,she will make it . I don't see any big deal in all these sackings. There is nothing as safe and profitable as been able to use ur hands and brains to create productive things and solutions to ppls problems
