If only we Africans can come together, to build our continent, Africa will be the envious of other continent. |

This is an insightful exposition, such information arms one to think objectfully. At least we now know that there is more to this issue than meets the eyes. Good one |

From the article, "Given their political and economic heft -- together, the two economies are larger than the rest of sub-Saharan Africa's combined -- relations between South Africa and Nigeria could be decisive for the future of a continent of 1 billion people." "Nigeria and South Africa are like two prisoners in the same cell of poverty, inequality and bad leadership," And "Together they could muster the strength to break their bonds and overpower the jailer but instead they spend time feuding with each other in a needlessly fractious relationship." Among other statistics, these two countries can be great together. Citizens of both countries need to rise above envy, jealousy, among other evils. We are better being together in unity. 1 Like |

This article is more of hype for Nigeria. Nigeria is nowhere near the class of south Africa. I think "Rivalry" between both countries is between their black populations. Black people in south Africa are at the helm of their country politically but the white man is still in control of the gold and other resources. Nigerians control both the politics and economy of their oil rich Nation. Leaves plenty of room for black people in south Africa to be envious of their Nigerian counterparts. You should see the way black south Africans look at Nigerians that spend their holidays in the country. 5 Likes |

ribbit:Do not be deceived. The average black South African at the same social status still has a better standard of living. I agree they may not be as ambitious as Nigerians but even Nigeria is diverse and not all regions are touted as hard working. The poor South African is better than the poor Nigerian. Besides why throw away the whites are they not South Africans? 2 Likes 1 Share |

eaglechild: Apart from capetown, KZN, pta and joburg, what other cities have better infrastructure? Just google soweto for example. These people feed 4rm hand to mouth, don't have access to education, menial jobs, poor living conditions etc. Only the big cities are highly developed. The truth remains that the white population in S.A have the good standard of living, same as the elite blacks..and there aren't many elite blacks as compared with the whites of people who can boast of good standard of living in Nigeria. Btw they have downtowns in the big cities..I'm sure you know who lives there |
Re: Reuters Report On Nigeria And South Africa's Unending Rivalry by eaglechild: 10:52am On May 01, 2015 |
ekiloui:Why segregate? If you use the standard of living in the Northwest then Nigeria will be worse than North Sudan. Besides those groups you mentioned still have their average members with a better standard of living than most Nigerian ethnic groups. |
