Let's be honest: a war between Yorubas and Igbos would be so one-sided that the whole of Igboland might end getting destroyed the same way the Romans destroyed Carthage. But I noticed Yorubas, throughout history, don't go to the extreme after defeating an opponent in a war. They just defeat them - and leave them running for their lives.

The yorubas on this thread should hide their face in shame. The war was between biafran and the international communities and not just Nigeria. The biafran soldiers fought with bravery and courage against a well fortified army yet they held the war for three years. They had just dane guns and clubs against apc tanks, fighter jets and fn rifles and so on. My friend, the biafran soldiers are the real uncelebrated spartans añd the real heroes of the war.

In as much as I don't support war,

Pls don't lie to make your points

Both sides use mercenaries

On the flip side, the most effective biafra soldier is banjo. He is above his peers so much so that ojukwu entrusted the capture of the most important state lagos to his command.

But note, Yoruba where never having war on their soil, hence they made sure against all odds that the biafra army didn't get pass ore.

Give honor to whom it's due, those guys are real spartans.

I wish for the west and east to unite someday, the hausa full no keeps winning.

. Well I totally disagree with u in the area of mercenary. I think u need to ask yourself the major financier of the biafran army. The government of the starved biafrans of all the foreign assistants they would have gotten yet they kept fighting for 3years.

List out the international community and show us the evidence of the International Communities on the soil of Biafra.

We will now chow you the pictures of your mercenaries.

List out the countries. We are waiting. Sore losers.

You were resoundinfly defeated. So be it. Simple. Deal with it.

Who even cares whether the host of heavens fought gainst you? why did you not do your diplomacy homework excellently well before starting what you could not finish? Even NA is at today are still using SA#s mercenaries. There was a coalition of nations against Gadaffi, Saddam, Osama, Alqaeda, ISIS and even BH.

Next time, you will not rely on the likes of your allies again -- France, Israel, US, Vatican, Tanzania, Sweden, Cote 'Ivoire, Equitorial Guinea, gabon etc. They thought you were promising enough and when they realised how shallow you were, they abandoned you to your miserable fate.

Your sissy bearded bandit lord failed War Strategy 101, failed National Diplomacy 101 and also failed International Diplomacy 101. wetin come remain?

Do you know there was a central bank in the east when the war broke out. The bank was looted by the biafran army as all federal investment in the east was looted. Till today, there are top army generals like danjuma that believe awo shouldn't have returned a penny to Igbos who claim they have a bank account.

Another argument which to me is the most logical is that those igbos before leaving for the east withdraw all their money in the banks before they left, which to me also lean to awo being too generous with the twenty pound.

As such the question was not lack of fund, the biafran army was well funded. Until Awo changed the Nigeria currency thereby making Nigeria money with the biafran army useless, ojukwu has funds to finance the war.

A book for reference is DOGS OF WAR. The book is centred around white mercenaries used by the biafran army.

I really don't understand why all these Igbos keep saying the fought for 3 years......Yes the civil war lasted 3 years and the Nigerian Army 's plan was to starve the people of Biafra by blocking all entry and exit and also change currency. The people and soldiers couldn't use their currency and due to starvation some of the biafrans became cannibals.......If the Nigerian Army approached the war differently....the war wouldn't last 6 months......kaphish....

Has nothing to do with that. Wasn't your first time.
I haven't been following too much news for the past weeks. I heard about the riots when i check my news timeline 2 days ago and had to play some catch up. Baltimore has a black mayor, police commissioner and mostly black cops. The scenario wont play out like Ferguson but i honestly have no idea what really happened. Just that someone was beaten to death or something, cvs looted and national guard deployed.

Why did Banjo retreat? why did he run?

I don't know and probably will never know.. but one thing I know is that he is Yoruba....

I am glad the misinformation that was trying to be so badly sold in the other thread that these 100+ soldiers were yorubas was nipped in the bud. if not... I am sure it would have been news now that 100+ soldiers destroyed 50,000 Biafran soldiers (led by Banjo - this part is always left out lol).

Continue with your praises shaa... nothing do you... just don't present false info or try passing your assessments, however exaggerated, as reality.

Yoruba + HUASA vs Igbos = ONE NIGERIA

Now before we talk about bravery and superiority how would a war like this play out

Igbo + Huasa vs Yoruba?

The truth is a war like that won't last 8 months.

Now talk about bravery?
Pit just the Yorubas vs Igbos and see the so called yoruba ass get wiped.

Last shot let's stop creating topics about wars we never experienced because those who actually did from both side will never want to experience it again.

wad up, shymexx. I see you're going in kinda hard right now. grin

Two main questions for you, 1) why not just abate the Biafra land, unless this is domination? The only inconvenience that seemingly comes with the decision is drawing a small demarcation from Nigeria, a small new but meaningful line on world maps.

2) how do you think the biafra war would have played out if not for foreign involvement?

Lol. You're very funny - who has time to start doing another repetitive discourse about issues that have already been over-flogged? The only reason why I ignored AAguy is cos I doubt he knows much - and he seems decent, and there's absolutely no point wasting time on unnecessary back and forth.

What's he going to ask next? Biafrans killed 10,000 Nigerian soldiers at Abagana, when actually the number of soldiers that were killed at the theatre was less than 200. grin

Okay, take the answers:

- Biafrans wanted took their war with the North Westwards, hence they couldn't be abated cos if that had happened, they would have lorded over Yorubaland. Ojukwu's letter showed was the real intention was.

- Biafra had as much foreign support as the Nigerian side. The following countries supported Biafra: France, Portugal, Apartheid South Africa, Red Cross, Christian Missionaries, Ivory Coast, Rhodesia (before it became Zimbabwe), Israel, Gabon, Tanzania, Israel, Czechs, and Spain. They had a lot of mercenaries and the Biafran aircraft that bombed Lagos (on multiple occasions) were flown by foreign pilots.
