Of course you can remove it, the length and breadth of the 125w panel is 3ft, so its not heavy like you think

Op in an ordinary man's language, let's assume if i stay in a 3bedroom apartment, with
A fridge
A deep freezer
A split unit
2 LCD tv
And other little house appliances
How much is it going to cost me to power them?

i will recommend the 3.5kva inverter all things been equal, However if you can remove the fridge from the equation, then 2.5kva will carry your load
Here is a link to read about the 3.5kva and its price http://www.charpell.com/2014/12/35kva48v-inverter.html

I have seen your prices, but dose that cover the solar panel cost? If not pls include it and get back to me ASAP.

The quote for Solar Energy
The 3.5kva uses 4 deep cycle batteries, you need a bout 8 panels of 200w panels

1 if you are going for the Auxano Products, then its N35,000*8= 280,000

2 Then you need a 24v/80A charge controller = 80,000

3 20 yards of 4mm cable N10,000

Total for Solar Energy on 3.5kva inverter is N370,000

I have a 1.45v inverter. How much would I spend on solar to power it. The load is 10 energy saver bulbs, 2 ceiling fan and TV

The 1.45kva uses 2 deep cycle batteries, you need about 4 panels of 200w panels

1 if you are going for the Auxano Products, then its N35,000*4= 140,000

2 Then you need a 24v/30A charge controller = 60,000

3 20 yards of 4mm cable N10,000 (you could use less or more depending on the distance from the roof to the battery)

4 Angle bar will be 4 which is N40, 000 (this one is optional)

Total for Solar Energy on 1.45kva inverter is N210,000 excluding angle bar

It works only in the day, then the charged battery the solar had been charging will start supplying your electricity till dawn, then the sun comes again in the morning to charge, this way you get 24hrs
Re: . by MicroBox: 11:37am On May 06, 2015
@OP please what do you mean by 2 deep circle batteries to power 1.45kva inverter
1 deep circle is equal to what?
please @op I thought any inverter needs 12v DC to power it, which in turn output 220v A.C.
NB: I do know that we have 48v D.C.inverter which you need four 12v batteries before it will power and output 220v A.C
Shebi Battery Amps depend on how long you want your load to stay powered I.e 200Ah 12v will last longer than 150Ah 12v battery though different time to charge fully
My two 80W=160W solar panel, 100W INEC battery and 1000W inverter will power my 32" LG tv, my receiver and rechargeable standing fan from 11:30am to around 4:50pm daily before the sun intensity goes down which I will immediately turn off my tv and use my rechargeable fan till the next morning

There are currently 8 size of inverter ranging from 0.8kva to 10kva. And each inverter size has an amount of battery alloted to it due to the input voltage, for example the 0.8 kva uses a minimum of 1 battery while the 1.45kva uses 2.
1 deep cycle battery is 12v/100ah or 12v/200ah

Yes you correct. Now imagine you use 2 of 200ah battery for your 1.45kva. if one 200ah battery last for like 8-10 hrs without light, imagine what 2 of those batteries connected in series will do.

Like i explained above, the only inverter that takes in 12v is the 0.8kva inverter

I currently have a 3.5kw inverter with 8 batteries of 12 volts /150ah, am considering adding solar panels to power this setup up.
Pls, price range am I looking at?

And do you have an outlet in ph?

Thanks.

4 batteries of 150ah requires 6 panels of 200watts panel, so 8 batteries will require 12 panels of 200watts

Sorry, i operate only in Lagos.

Hi
Just came across ur thread. I hv a question similar to some other posts. My husband just installed a solar electricity generation setup but we are experiencing challenges. So far we have not been able to use it. Below are some of the details (mind you, I'm not a techie smiley).
3 280w solar panels(mono crystalline)
8mm cables
1.5kva inverter (pure sine wave)
2 12v 200ah batteries
24v 30a charge controller
Load is just TV, lights and fans.
The issue is dt the batteries charge extremely slowly such that if any load is put on d inverter it quickly discharges. The batteries also discharge even when no load is on d inverter. As such, my husband had to disconnect the solar setup because we were better off using the generator to charge the inverter.
We suspect there is something not quite right with the whole setup. Can you help identify it? Or kindly design the ideal setup for the items I listed above so we can try another installer.
I should also point out that we only allowed about 4 hrs of charge before loading the inverter.
It's all so frustrating because he has spent almost 400k on this project without success. Can you also suggest an experienced installer within Gbagada axis?

Sorry for replying late.

Solar installation is very delicate; calculation, electronic instruments and experience are needed to install efficiently.
It was very risky for your husband to attempt the setup without consulting a technician because solar panels are very fragile, any mistake can damage the panel and reduce the battery life span.

if your generator charges your inverter well, then it means the inverter + battery is good.

The problem could either be the solar panel setup or the charge controller

Lets start with the panel.
a 280w is likely to be 24v.

There is a device called Multi meter.
Some panels may be faulty when you buy them, the only way to know a good panel is to measure the output voltage when you expose the panel to sunlight, you use the multi meter to take reading and you get about 26v.

So if you battery is not charging well, it could be the 1 or 2 panels are bad in the setup.

Please note that the 3 panels should be connected in parallel and not in series

Secondly the solar charge controller.
i dont know the make of your scc, but the ideal scc

should be digital
abilty to display the voltage of the battery
Total current from the 3 panels (very important)
Measure the Room tempreature
Record total watts acquired in scc

Infact if you connect the Scc properly to the battery and panels, you should be able to see the results on the monitor.
Atleast 10 amp

Nb scc = solar charge controller

What's the lifespan of a setup like this? 1 year? 2 years?

goofyone:

What's the lifespan of a setup like this? 1 year? 2 years?
Auxano is 7 years
Sinbad is 25 Years

The only thing you may change with 2 years is the battery, but it all boils down to maintainance

I used my battery for 4 years before I got a new one. Not that it was bad but because it wasn't giving me the required 10 hrs.

So I sold it, added money to get a new one
