On her birthday

She was my friend, a mystery, and it bothered my mind,
She was the first lady who had my heart pounding each time we fought.
Our relationship was closer than friendship, it was one of possession.
We had that sense of belonging to each other.
We exchanged texts, had long calls, chatted all night that our day felt incomplete without reaching each other.
I would say fate not love brought us together for we were like opposites.

I had reached her out of curiosity, the emphatic side of me took over and I found myself relating with an unknown girl, caring for her like my own sister.

I was naive, a learner, she was experienced.
I was a very forward partner, taking decisions I felt right but ended up pissing her off.
I was bad with words, she was good with insults and most of our chats ended in argument and blacklisting.
She was a feminist, I was an egotistic guy who wouldn't bend to rules, a core maverick.
She has seen life, I've read well, and I countered her experience with information.

I was criticized for her, but I bore it all, I felt she'd bend.
I loved her as my closest partner, she even called me her mentor.
At the touch of parting, I turned a poet, for only then I knew her worth.
She broke all her promises, I was one big disappointment.

Alacrity took over in reaching her, for our parting was too much a burden.
She didn't bulge with poems, her ears dumb to my sweet words.
Better times fell in. I was refined and refreshed. Her departure brought reality.
A part of my past, a lesson for my future.

All the epistle to say what I consider frivolous! With a new year, I expect maturity.

She's not a girl now, she's a lady. God bless her age.

This is a day she calls special, but you ll always be special, everyday.

Happy birthday to the girl that once troubled my mind. With love.

Not so beautiful. I was not her first, she was mine instead. She got this to prove how well I am, that breakup won't stop me from wishing her happy birthday.
