Volksfuhrer: The speech is empty by your own psychotic standard, by sane standard, Zik has defiled treason to educate his people on the need to self determination, an action that generations to come will remain grateful unless Nigeria cease to exist. Young man, can you tell us exactly what your grand father was doing at the time? Let me guess: Laying ambush for maidens coming back from the stream. It is repugnant to note that at this age of proliferation of knowledge we still have people like you who lack objective reasoning. Now compare this era with that of Zik, in his dark age he could think about an independent Nigeria and the benefits there in. Believe me if you ever existed in the era of Zik, you will be eating stone with your dead mindset. 2 Likes |

AhmedMustapha:You are right. But who are the govt? In Nigeria's 55 yrs, the north has ruled more than 40yrs. They deliberately refused to develop sea ports in the south south. Can you imagine how the sea port in any northern state would have looked like if they were blessed with any state bordering the sea/ocean? Now I don't blame the north anymore. I blame Gej for squandering a divine and rare opportunity. Instead of using his six years to liberate his people from economic strangulation, he chose to flirt and romance northern oligarchs. Thank God they paid him deservedly. 2 Likes |

jpphilips: Tales by moonlight! You see, the job of a historian is not only to present facts but also to explain them. In which case he never loses his focus of the big picture. Please, Zik and Nkrumah were not in the same class. Who told you Nkrumah was "diplomatic" like Zik. Nkrumah was fearless! Remember, Nkrumah was imprisoned for leading a revolt. Anyway, let me move away from minutiae to a more serious issue. Even though I'm not an "Ojukwuist," but notwithstanding the outcome of the civil war, I still believe Ojukwu was a better leader than Zik. Ojukwu made many mistakes but he stayed true to his cause till the end. He had a vision, locked his mind unto it and unequivocally pursued it! Question: was Zik not originally part of the Biafra cause? O yes, he was! Was Zik not sanguinary too at this time for supporting Biafra? Or he didn't know there would be war at secession? Here lies your hypocrisy! Further question: what happened to your beloved hero when it appeared Biafra would lose the war? This is what happened. Your Zik defected to the side of "one Nigeria...indivisible...indestructible!" This was the same man who wrote Biafra's anthem! No wonder the British called him Zikzag! Sorry, there's long list of indiscretions impeaching Zik's integrity as a great leader. Need I say more! 1 Like |

You have cried for too long, since last night. Your whining and crying does not for a minute remove the fact that Zik was Nigeria's number ONE and among the finest three in Africa. I would even rate Nkruma less than Zik because it was even Zik that influenced Nkruma to go get a university degree from Lincoln.(Read Achebe’s: There was a country) I might even rank Zik to the likes of Washington because they were first presidents of their respective countries. And they didn't achieve that feat by being an armed chair warriors. Great Zik of Africa was/is best and greatest gift to Nigeria. Please stop crying and live with these realities. jpphilips: You need not resort to tantrums when confounded by brutal facts. Zik was not the only one that fought for Nigeria's independence, nor did the fight for independence originate with him! Even the success of the West African Pilot was not Zik's alone, despite the fact that he owned it! It's self-deprecating to think Nigerians needed Zik to cry for independence. Independence for Nigeria was a categorical imperative of any educated person then. Zik was not the only educated one around, nor was he the only activist. Aminu Kano for instance, had it even more difficult than Zik. He had to battle the British overlords and the Northern feudal lords at the same time! Please, I know the heroes of this country, Zik is not one of them! 1 Like |

In your skewed mind he was not a hero but he became the first president of Nigeria. Just listen to your sorry self. Its obvious what is eating you. Great Zik the first president of Nigeria was not from your region and you are really hurt about that. I really share your pain. But just take it easy. Great Zik of Africa was Africa's greatest. Live with it bro because that is a fact you can't even change not here. Volksfuhrer: 1 Like |

jpphilips: What were his achievements as Governor General? Nothing substantive. Besides, he became a Governor General by virtue of his party's coalition with NPC. It was fortuitous, not earned. A different coalition could have produced a different person as Governor General! Question: why did he choose to be a junior partner in one coalition over being a senior partner and Prime Minister in another coalition? After all, the latter was more powerful. So much for the wisdom of your hero. jjphilips: Another baloney. Several people were instrumental to Nigeria's Independence. In no particular order of importance, the under-listed did a great job for independence: Enahoro, Ikoku, Awolowo, Herbert Macaulay, Imodu, Okotie-Eboh, Fani-Kayode, Aminu Kano, Tarka, Bello, Balewa, et al. You get the point now? That there is nothing unique about Zik's fight for independence. Hauling invectives at me will not change the fact that Zik was over-hyped. When you prepare a better CV for Zik than the ones you've been parading as achievements, you may reply with informed rebuttals. Kindest regards ( Grins out of thread.) 1 Like |

These two are still crying. Haba! Well until both of you start crying blood I will not stop haunting you with the very harsh truth. Great Zik of Africa was the first president of united Nigeria. Zik and Washington has something in common--guess! Great Zik of Africa singlehandedly led Nigeria to independence. That is why he was the most honored of all the nationalists. Great Zik of Africa influenced the likes of Nkrumah to pursue university degrees at Lincoln. Great Zik of Africa was/is the greatest gift to African countries. Let the tears and crying start rolling once more. 1 Like

Volksfuhrer: Bros there is no rebuttal what You said has answered it all, you mentioned people who fought for our independence, like you said in no chronological order meaning you have no clue what they did. You thought they wrote the positions on a board and asked them to choose. my advise for you is simple go and study and spare that ignorance for your fellow dullards. 1 Like |

jpphilips:You're the one that need to go study why Azikiwe chose to be junior (President) to Tafawa-Balewa in the coalition between NPC and NCNC, when Awolowo had earlier met him to form a coalition with AG in which he (Azikiwe) would be the senior (Prime Minister). 1 Like |

Re: WAS ZIK A Prophet?...a Must Read! by Volksfuhrer(m): 4:36pm On May 03, 2015 |
jpphilips: Stop being childish. Zik is our subject matter. The order in which the names of other nationalists appeared in my submission is truly immaterial to the point driven home! After all, those names are sufficient enough as counter examples to the nonsensical claim that Nigeria got independence because of Zik! The move for independence overtly started with the formation of the Nigerian Youth Movement (NYM) in 1933 (A party which Zik later joined in 1937, for he wasn't even a founding member!). So it's just ludicrous if not atrocious for people to attribute the independence movement in Nigeria solely to Zik. I'm not saying he did nothing at all, but there were several others as well who did as much; so why expropriate them. With due respect, you've really exhibited very poor analytical skills throughout this discourse! Your submissions have been below par. I actually expected better from you, but you've been very disappointing so far. 1 Like |

It gets clearer by the day that the exponential increase in the nuisance value of most of you here are not fuelled by genuine concern to learn, but the poise to brandish false intellectual and argue with your father's mate. Indirectly learning from the subject. I kept a tab on a few culprits who made me a bullseye for a period, only for them to argue with other people with the same position I couldn't convince them of, what does that tell you?
