aadetoyin: Were you told to use this Primolut Noresthisterone by a doctor? Primolut N can be useful sometimes but does not help in actuality and that is just the fact. This is because,it can tensed up pseudomenorrhea(false menstruation) which is an ordinary uterine bleeding and the woman may feel she is on her cycle pull. Metformin and Clomiphene citrate seem to be the bench drugs for PCOS if other health odds are met.It is adviceable to use use the CLOMID for an interval of 3-4cycles before one call it a shot but the Metformin should be continually be in use till your doctor advised otherwise. If your case is not that of amenorrhoea(total obstruction or cess of menstruation),then there is a good chance that you can be pregnant.Be in sound mind, regular exercise, good diet with fruits and as well on some helping pills that supplies both the minerals and vitamins. |

Pls Docs. In the house I need your help. I am 3oyrs, single and had abnormal bleeding which led me to the hospital and I was scanned and the doc said am developing fibroid. Though its small. Had to go to a specialist who did anoda scan and confirmed the fibroid. But I need explanations wit the test result. The abdominal organs are normal(there is no hydronephrosis) UTERUS: intramural echopenic or echopelvic mass 4.2x5.6cm & intramural echope... Mass 3.9x4cm siting on the cavity. The orgarn os enlarged by the masses Endometrium:- it is 0.55cm thick and linear. Adnexae:- the ovaries are normal. The cul-de-sac is free Urinary bladder is normal. Pls what's my fate with all that |

lululuv:Please when posting a medical report,it is unwise to assume the doctor or health agent knows what you are saying by the use of ....Always write your report as written on your sheet. No HYDRONEPHROSIS means, there wasn't observe clogged of water in your KIDNEY or that, the kidney was not made abnormal by water obstruction. INTRA-MURAL as to do with smooth muscles of the womb(uterus). The written numbers are dimensions, from the look of things. It is not an obvious large one. However, this has slight provocation in causing an increase in the passage or mouth to the womb. Adnexae(other pelvic organs) of the likes of your tubes, ovaries and ligaments were observed to be okay. Cud-de-sac is free means, the pouch or space or cavity between your womb and extreme end of the abdominal cavity is minimally fluided or no fluid in it at all. What are your fate with all these? As in? The growth are small in their respective dimensions.Intramural fibroid do hardly show difficult symptoms like pains and increase urine output. But to some extent they are usually disturbing due to uterine bleeding excessive menstrual fluid flow. This is because, they are located in the very muscle of the womb, not on the mucousal or/and sub-serous side of the womb. Women with fibroid still carry pregnancy even to term.It is usually not a cause to infertility. It will be wise to stay-off estrogen pills or diet inwhich such of it is given. Some drugs can help to minimize the bleeding and other considerable complications. |

adebusola09: Non-uniformity in the material texture of the uterine tissue. I thought Omicron had answered you on the bulkiness before? Yes,he had. Bulkiness is normal if no growth is observe.Bulkiness can show up as in- 1)Increase in size of the uterus 2)during the cycle 3)pregnancy/post-pregnancy 4)others |

@luckyG1, sorry for the ...., thar was used wasn't sure what he wrote there. I have been spotting since 2months now. Went to the hospital and have been taking treatment still the spotting hasn't stopped. Have also done Hysterosalpingography, the doc said when the bleeding stops and after my next circle I should come for another check-up and if need be we do evacuation of the womb I guess. But till now am still bleeding. Don't know what else to do |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by lululuv(f): 10:01am On Apr 30, 2015 |
Is this normal too. Endometrium:- it is 0.55cm thick and linear. |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by omicron(m): 2:34pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
lululuv:Your symptoms of abnormal bleeding is most likely due to the fibroid sitting on the cavity. Fibroids cause menstrual problems whenever they affect the endometrial cavity, whether they are intramural (within the musle/body of the uterus), intracavitary (growing into the cavity{the space where the embryo develops}) or submucosal (beneath the lining of the cavity). Your scan showed a moderate-sized fibroid sitting on your uterine cavity. If this was not a transvaginal scan, you may do one so as to enable a better appreciation of the relation of the fibroid to the endometrial cavity. I would also want to rule out endometrial polyps in your case. Having said that, since they are causing you these much problems, and especially if you have been ttc, the advice is to remove the fibroids. This can be done laparoscipically or via open surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is better, but lack of expertise and equipment-coupled with much higher cost- means open surgery is what is commonly done in Nigeria. Your endometrium of about 5mm is normal, although this varies with the stage of the menstrual cycle. |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by omicron(m): 2:54pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
lululuv:If the cause of your bleeding is structural, such as due to a fibroid or polyps, drugs will not make any difference. Drugs for shrinking fibroids will of course subside the symptoms, but these are rarely prescribed in Nigerian regular hospitals. Gentle endometrial curretage (what you understood as evacuation of the womb) will help, especially if your symptoms are due to a polyp, or a functional disorder. But if due to a fibroid, the help -if any- will be temporary. In the mean time, I hope you are taking iron supplements to prevent blood loss anaemia. |

Hello Doctors. You are doing a great job here. Pls i need your advice on the prenatals to be taken now in preparation for pregnancy later in the yr by Gods grace. Im in my 30s i would be tying the knot later in the year. I heard folic acid is good what, else can i add to it and how do i take it? Thank you very much |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by omicron(m): 5:36pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
breadplanets:Folic acid is good to prevent Neural Tube Defects in the baby (a kind of abnormal development of the brain). Should be taken before conception and through the first 3 months of pregnancy. For general wellbeing preparatory to conception, balanced diet and exercise are recommended. Unless you have any specific challenges, no need to take other pills, unless as otherwise precribed by a physician. After the 1st month of pregnancy, you may commence brands like Pregnacare. Congrats on your marriage and wishing the best. |

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by mybose: 2:18am On May 04, 2015 |
Please doctors on the thread, I need ur urgent help. I'm five month old pregnant and I've been noticing serious challenges in my body lately. Infact, I've been admitted in hospital since yesterday due to the fact that one side of my head (my cheek, lips and eye) is not functioning well. One side of my lips is bending towards another side and one of my eyes is growing deep to the extent I cannot walk alone. After beeing treated yesterday, I noticed that my second eye was being affected too. What could have lead to this? I never had or experienced any deformity in my life. When I got to my doctor b4 admission, he read my BP as 100/60 and till now, my BP is still between 100/60-110/70. Please, somebody in the house should help because I don't knw what is happening to me. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by Nobody: 6:04am On May 04, 2015 |
mybose: This is a clinical issue.I hope by now all should be well. Roughly, this One-sided face paralysis is due to cranial nerve dysfunction. Some person find it hard to move a side of the body, inability to move the lips and one eye may be busily open. BELL'S PALSY.... A known palsy as this, may be Lime disease,Myasthenia gravis,HSV-1 and others.Pregnancy related DM may also be involved, and the likes of strokes. TREATMENT OPTION: Don't underlook AFRICAN MEDICINE in this regard.I have experience somebody with such a case from Benue, and all done on him was herbal medication.A good african herbal specialist can be of help. The use of Corticosteriod of the like of PREDNISOLONE. Thirdly,a good PHYSIOTHERAPY is a must, or the doctor can assume this position. |

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by omicron(m): 7:09am On May 04, 2015 |
mybose:You are five months pregnant, please do not take herbal drugs especially. It could very dangerous for you and or the foetus. Your condition is facial muscle weakness. Many central nervous system causes abound, such as strokes. It occurs most commonly in pregnancy. But in the majority of cases no cause is found, when it is called Bell's Palsy (googl it) Usually it will resolve with time on its own (weeks to months), but steroids and other anti-imflammatory pills can acelerate its resolution. Please remember anything you take isn't just for you, but also for your innocent baby. Do not take drugs/substances indiscriminately, but take only those prescribed by your doctor who has seen and known you. I know how scary it could be, but in time it will all resolve, so long as no serious underlying cause is responsible. |

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by Nobody: 6:16am On May 05, 2015 |
jones2014:What does the test result mean? The typical volume of semen collected is between 1.5 and 5.5 milliliters (mL) of fluid per ejaculation. Decreased volume of semen would indicate fewer sperm, which diminishes opportunities for successful fertilization and subsequent pregnancy. Excessive seminal fluid may dilute the concentration of sperm. The semen should initially be thick and then liquefy within 15 to 30 minutes. If this does not occur, then it may impede sperm movement. Sperm concentration (also called sperm count or sperm density) is measured in millions of sperm per milliliter of semen. Normal is at least 20 million or more sperm per mL, with a total ejaculate volume of 80 million or more. Fewer sperm and/or a lower sperm concentration may impair fertility. Following a vasectomy, the goal is to have no sperm detected in the semen sample. Motility is the percentage of moving sperm in a sample and graded based on speed and direction travelled. At least 50% should be motile one hour after ejaculation, moving forward in a straight line with good speed. The progression of the sperm, best measured using an automated system, is rated on a basis from zero (no motion) to 4, with 3-4 representing good motility. If less than half of the sperm are motile, a stain is used to identify the percentage of dead sperm. This is called a sperm viability test. Morphology analysis is the study of the size, shape, and appearance of the sperm cells. The analysis evaluates the structure of the sperm, whereby greater than 50% of those cells examined must be normal in size, shape, and length. The more abnormal sperm that are present, the lower the likelihood of fertility. Abnormal forms may include defective heads, midsections, tails, and immature forms. More than 14% should have normal heads. To see an image of a normal sperm, see the MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia page on sperm. Semen pH should be between 7.2 and 7.8, fructose at 150-600 mg/dL, and there should be fewer than 2000 white blood cells per mL. A pH of 8.0 or higher may indicate an infection, while a pH less than 7.0 suggests contamination with urine or an obstruction in the ejaculatory ducts. http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/semen/tab/test/ Maybe you should read up more online 1 Like 1 Share |
