GARLAND, Texas (AP) — A contest for cartoons depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in a Dallas suburb is on lockdown after authorities reported a shooting outside the building.

An officer dressed in SWAT gear took the stage toward the end of the event at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland and told attendees, including an Associated Press reporter, that a shooting had occurred. He said one officer and two suspects were shot.



It wasn't immediately clear if the shooting was related to the event.

Garland Police Department spokesman Joe Harn declined to confirm the SWAT officer's statements and said he had no details.

The New York-based American Freedom Defense Initiative was hosting a contest that would award $10,000 for the best cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad at the venue.

I agree, but this event served only one purpose which was to antagonize Muslims. Those American lives can exist without offending people by drawing Muhammad, instead they were purposely pushing and then wondering why the middle eastern world hates the U.S. for the most part.

If Allah or Mohammad is ridiculed, Allah himself should destroy those that ridicule him and Mohammad his messenger. Muslims claim Allah is the creator and sustainer of all human life. He should destroy those that affront him by himself.

It amazes me how black Muslims are the first ones to condemn "the West" for racism and discrimination while ignoring the loooooong history of racism from the Arab world. From the still ongoing slave trade to he everyday casual racism. Perhaps they need history lessons.

Good point... And whites are killing blacks too. The difference here is whites are purposely antagonizing Muslims to make it seem as if they can justifiably shoot them. They know what buttons to push, but will suddenly cry over 9/11 or when their extremists chop their white heads off for all the world to see. That's all I'm saying.
