Fuel scarcity is political! In other words it is deliberately made scarce as a way of extorting extra money from general population. This thread proves that there is adequate fuel in the country. When a govt is serious about solving a fuel scarcity crisis that is threatening to grind the country to a halt, it would put it as a high priority and announce emergency measures to get fuel supply raised. I may have missed it but I am quite sure that the government has done nothing at all. All GEJ needs to do, is order fuel marketers or those hanging on to the fuel to release the fuel to filling stations with immediate effect or lose their license and face arrest and jail sentence. Who created the oil marketers? - PDP govt of Thief Obasanjo . The same PDP are now telling us that they are belng held to ransom by the fuel marketers. It is political and corruption - nothing more! Imagine if the company servicing all of Aso Rock's vehicles refuses to return any of the vehicles, do you think FG would do nothing and only be making statements complaining that it has been held to ransom? Abeg, this is pure nonsense! America and her allies are the beneficiaries of the $ 800 Billion looted from Nigeria since 1999. Can you see now why America despite public statements to the contrary, does not want a competent APC administration that is likely to cut off our money flowing to them? May the gods protect our President Elect and wreck all evil plots against him and his incoming govt. |

Re: Fuel Scarcity: 8 Vessels With Petroleum Products Arrive Lagos Ports - Sunnews by Reference(m): 6:28am On May 05, 2015 |
GenBuhari: Very simplistic. You cannot decree enterprise. Government has no refineries (at home or abroad). It has no ships, it has a few licensed gas stations and trucks. It has only part of the money to buy fuel per time. It is a minority stakeholder in this business. Its leverage is minimal and that's the way it should be. When your airtime is gone your phone becomes an ordinary but expensive calculator, organiser or gameboy. It is the continuous funding matching consumption that keeps enterprise alive, nothing more. We the public do not buy gas on credit at filling stations. We pay cash. The government that promises to bridge the gap is the cause of the scarcity so the solution is simple. Remove government from the equation by removing subsidy. But what we are saying now is let us change government and see whether it is a better businessman. Is there such a thing. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Thief Obasanjo navigates only for his own stomach and his masters (America and her allies). God willing, soon the only navigating he would be doing should be navigating himself around his jail cell. shift15: |

One thing that usually come to my mind whenever I read this type of headline is that indeed Nigerians are gullible and we are being taken for a ride because its difficult to speak with one voice.. Our psyche already turn on ethinic and religion sentiment. Just a few days back the NNPC caution populace about panic buying because they have stock that will last Nation for 40 days and here we are wallowing in pain of fuel shortage.. If we are now being told that fuel has just arrive at the port, the person who made statement of abundant of fuel in reserve should be called to answer charges |

8 vessels sound like a great number but don`t forget it can last just a couple of days. the current demand bets that supply, so how about considering 80 or better still 8000 vessels. seem unrealistic right? that would be because somebody would rather fill his pocket that fill the nation with required resources for generations to come. |
Re: Fuel Scarcity: 8 Vessels With Petroleum Products Arrive Lagos Ports - Sunnews by Nobody: 6:42am On May 05, 2015 |
sorry, what you wrote makes no sense. Keep it simple, as long as fuel is stored in Nigeria , we own it and can distribute it as we wish. If any fuel marketer is refusing to send fuel to filling station, they should simply be forced to do so. Nigeria owns the fuel not the fuel marketer. What does the term fuel marketer mean? Does govt need anybody to market fuel? can you see corruption? Reference: |

As usual...I see many Nigerians thinking that a businessman or businesswoman's job is to run charity. Look...a marketer brings in fuel at N114 per liter...and sells it at the subsidized price of N87 per liter. Them gofment pay the chaps the balance....leaving them with little profit...or in some instances...zero profit. No wonder...some of them bill govt for fuel NOT imported...and run off with the money (It is more profitable that way.... . But still very very wrong). The simple fact is that fuel is expensive BECAUSE we are importing the stuff. Back when I was a kid....fuel cost 75kobo per liter. Back then....all our refineries were working...and no Nigerian in his wildest dreams ever thought we would import even 0.0000000001 Liter of fuel. But now....we are importing fuel....MOST of the fuel we use in this country....and our refineries are not operating at full capacity.Meanwhile...our revenues from oil are FALLING....thanks to the low oil price....and we still have to pay subsidies for education, fertilizer, etc. In other words....we are just shoveling millions of dollars into an incinerator. Remind me who thought it was a good idea. At the end of the day subsidy has to go. If we keep on subsidizing fuel....many marketers are going to go broke. And that means...JOB losses. And we won't have enough money for everything. Pretty soon....prices will go up elsewhere....eg school fees, hospital fees, etc...because we no longer have the kudi to subsidize everything else and fuel. Yes, prices of fuel will go up. But we just might have more money to do things...like repair our refineries, build more of them...and fund things like mass public transport. Which is a cheaper alternative to cars and cars. I don't say this with joy. I wish with all my heart there was an alternative. But we have no choice. Either build 4 more refineries+renovate existing ones......or the subsidy goes.Awoof government is not sustainable government (unless you have a hefty GDP....which can only be achieved by getting industrial....instead of this resource dependent economy we have.). 1 Like 1 Share |

What is happening presently to our oil sector with regards to the current PMS scarcity, has shown the stages where passing through in our democracy, it has thrown up many things, even how dexterity we are, just because another govt is coming, then every hogwash has to be applied by the so called immune cabals in holding the nation down in the oil sector due to their selfish interest, demanding every kobo involved in the current foreign exchange with regards to their previous balance owed them, after been paid the stipulated amt,not minding the milking and drying and draining of the nation going on there since Adam, now the masses are bearing the brunt of their perversiveness,I hope the incoming govt is studying, because after this naked dance, they will shift their manipulation's to them.that's one of the area that Jonathan govt didn't try,if the refineries where declared as up most important,we don't mind passing through this present fuel situation, knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel. |

bushdoc9919: That's the way it is. You've described it perfectly. I was initially against the subsidy removal. That was back in 2012! Today, I'm willing to pay some more naira for PMS per litre. ...though it's a tough decision. ...at sometime we gonna learn to make the tough decisions for the good of the future. ...President GEJ dared to remove furl subsidy and we resisted. ..whether that resistance was sponsored or not, I can't say now, but I know I also resisted. .... The subsidy must go. It's the first hard decision GMB will have to look into. We've been postponing the evil day for years. No private investor will go into the refinery business with fuel subsidy in place. ...... |

bushdoc9919: Do you sincerely believe that Subsidy removal will benefit the Nigerian people in the long run, if YES!!, Diesel has been deregulated for over 3yrs, why is diesel not selling like Indomie?? Do you sincerely think that building a refinery will solve this crisis, if so Y? Finally, what was the population of Nigerian car and Generators owners when you were a kid and today? |
