As a graduate Architect,this two disciplines are distinct in their own ways...............urban planning deals with the management of land use and the environment.......... Architecture on the other hand is the process,planning designing and constructing of buildings..........

I don't think he meant that it's exactly like architecture. I understood it as just an analogy.

There are distinct disciplines but pragmatically, they overlap. You can't really have one without the other.

Design wise it is. Taking architecture to be the design/planning/ construction of physical strictures, is it not rational to conclude that design/planning/management of space for several thousand physical structures is architecture on a larger scale?

Noting also that urban planners have some level of architectural training?

I used the term 'architecture' in my earlier comments because our approach to the environment is very similar to architecture. In fact we are siblings. However we are not architects, in fact urban planners these days are now referred to as Urban Engineers in some places. I've never heard an Urban Planner call himself an architect.

Guys guys plz help..wen I registered for nysc batch c novemba 2014 my date of birth changed from 07/06/1990 to 01/06/1990...wen I hed of how to change it correctly it was alredy late.Now I waited 4 dis may batch wich I got a confirmation that my name wz sent bt wen I check d senate list till 2day der kip sayin no record found n as it sounds I wil miss dis batch.So plz wat cud b d problem and how do I go abt solving it? Urgent ansa plz cz am being frustrated somuch

I quite share your views on the issues raised....these two discipline are uniquely placed to work side by side,but Architecture can play the role of urban planning without one feeling the absence of a town planner .............whereas the reverse is the case in Architecture.........@ chikaodili

management of land use and its environment is urban planning.........once it deviates from managing the environment into planning,coordinating n constructions then Architecture is born..........Though distinct in their on ways but adopt similar approach to achieve it goals ..........
