By June 3 or thereabout, when the 8th National Assembly will be inaugurated, Lagos State will be having the highest number poorly educated law makers.

According to the comprehensive list of the incoming legislators released by INEC, out of the 26 members in the House of Representatives, 4 have only Secondary School Certificate, the highest number from any state in the federation. Kaduna state produce 3, while Delta, Cross River, Bauchi and Sokoto are bringing two lawmakers each with low education.

Ekiti State which prides itself as having a high citizen literacy ratio this time failed to present a PHD holder in the House of Representatives.

Enugu State has 2 out of the 13 members that have a doctorate degree. This will be the highest in the 8th National Assembly.

Anambra, Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Osun, Sokoto, and Taraba will be having one lawmaker each who possesses a PHD.

If this numbers is anything to go by, the quality of representation to be seen when plenary begins next month can be predicted comfortably. But can it be determinant?

No, it won't be a determinant. All they need is just common sense and fear of God, and you don't get that by PhD and masters degree though that would have been an added advantage.
