Why I Am Owing 13 Months' Salary - Okorocha by meforyou1(m): 3:16pm On May 06, 2015
Okorocha Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has attributed the poor state of the nation’s economy for the non-payment salary arrears being owed government workers in some states of the federation.

Okorocha said this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and governors-elect on Tuesday in Abuja. The governor said that just like the states, the Federal Government was also finding it difficult to pay the salaries of its workers.

It would be recalled that Okorocha pledged to pay the 13 months salary arrears owed primary school teachers in the state during this year’s Workers Day.

“We must say that the economy is bad, let’s face the fact. Most governors are not able to pay salaries and there is no magic any governor can do to pay salary under the present situation.

“We intend to take that up with the President-elect to inform him of the challenges before him, to prepare his mind to know that there is a lot of challenges that the states are facing in terms of payment of salaries, including Federal Government.

“Here, you have an incoming president coming to meet almost an empty treasury, which tells you the challenges we have ahead of us.”

According to him, the APC governors and governors-elect have decided to meet to also review the just concluded 2015 general elections. This, he said, would enable the party and its elected officers to strategise on the best possible approach to tackle the country’s challenges.

“Basically, what we did was to review the just concluded election and we have congratulated each other and it’s on record that today, APPC has 22 governors-elect, while we are looking forward to getting more by the time we finish with the court processes.

“So this is the first introductory meeting to know one another and to discuss all that took place in the last election, the challenges, the merits and demerits.”

Okorocha said that some of their colleagues had embarked on holiday and medical checks to enable them regain their strength after the tedious electioneering campaigns.

He said that the presence of Senator Bukola Saraki at their meeting was not in any way connected to who emerged the Senate President or the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“Senator Bukola visited during our meeting, but we did not discuss the issue of who becomes the Senate President, or who becomes Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“Our mission is to familiarise ourselves and look at the state of our economy and see how we can meet the president-elect and make some suggestions on what he can do to move Nigeria forward.”

The meeting was attended by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, his Nasarawa counterpart, Tanko Al-Makura, Kaduna Gov.-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and the Speaker of the House of Representatives who is the Sokoto State Gov.-elect, Aminu Tambuwal.

Also present at the meeting were Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, former Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi, Deputy Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje and APC national chairman, John Oyegun. – NAN reports.

Ihedioha, ihenacho and co are just lucky they couldn't make it n d elections cos they would av done absolutely nothing in governance owing to the huge debts accumulated by Rochas. I just have an over brimming large magnitude of pity for the unfortunate fellow that would take over from rochas, he would basically have to work, pay salaries, build roads etc with his personal salary cos by then rochas would have totally and absolutely run and milked the finances of the state dry.

Somebody should please school me.

1). Is the federal government responsible for the payments? If yes, does it mean the federal government has been owing Imo state for 13 months or more? shocked

2). Does Imo state generate IGR? If yes, can't it be used to pay these teachers?

No insults please.
This is not sarcasm.

What debts and what do u mean by all this silly statements??
He admits the situation and never denied it.
Apart from the primary school teachers and workers of Imo transport Co, there is no other section that has been left unattended to in terms of salary payments.
And when u talk about huge debts you give us facts. Stop being sentimental.

In as much as it is not enough excuse, most of these primary school teachers owed are not even employed in full. The government asked for volunteers promising they will be made permanent as they teach and are confirmed to be good at it.that is why even though it is up to 13months,they are not raising issues.
But as long as he has agreed to pay them,he will

You are most wicked to try in any way to defend or justify this sort of wickedness! Like seriously? Apart from school teachers? For over a calendar year? I'm sure is ur parents were those affected or u r one of those affected u won't spew this trash. I'm hugely disappointed with u to say the least . So there's money to build chapels and round abouts but there's no money to pay poor workers? Shame on both of you. Wicked people.

see, heat & read what this thieve is saying here in support of a BIGER thief called Rochas.

Why is it Imo state, oil producing state is owing 13 months, Anambra state none oil producing state is not owing. Inshot Willie M. Obiano increased every worker‘s salary in february.

How come GEJ‘s looting is not affecting state like Anambra & Enugu.

WHAT IS ROCHAS DOING WITH IMO STATE IGR?

WHAT IS ROCHAS DOING WITH IMO STATE PART OF 13% DERIVATION FUND?

WHAT IS ROCHAS DOING WITH MDG-PROJECT FUND THAT COMES INTO IMO STATE?
These are questions for the birds to answer...

Alhaji El-Idris Rochas Okorocha has placed Ndi Imo on a verrryyyy long thing as a highly indebted state.

GEJ DID NOTHING HERE... BIKO

Okorocha is not owing anybody. Imo State is not a State that you will owe and people keep quiet. PDP and jealous brothers from Anambra should face the reality that Okorocha is the most powerful Igbo man alive today. If they like let them write all the lies in the world we in Imo know and live with the truth. We all have relatives that teach and none is owed. He even pays extra 13th month every year.

So shameful of okorocha to be found in this type of act, He once boosted that if PDP comes with bags of money that he would come with trailer loads of it. How come he's owing and APC media carrier has not said it.
Anyways, all politicians are almost the same.

Wicked set of people including the followers!
