I disagree with u on the education aspect. Western educattion reached Lagos long before 1895. At least CMS Grammar School would have been like 40 years old before Hope Waddel College was established. Check the dates.i

I'm Annang

Just curious, what is the difference between Annang and Ibibio?

The language sounds similar, the customs are similar so where is the difference?

Babybeeboi are you not the yemen guy who hates, kill and hang Nigerians? How come you know about efik? The last time I checked Efik is a language spoken in cross-river, and cross-river is a state in Nigeria. You can lie for Africa sha.....Smh.

Yup especially the Efiks and Ijaws. You can see it in their liberal culture and abundance of English surnames.

They were 'liberal' before Europeans, in fact the Europeans that influenced them, the Victorians, were not liberal at all.
Re: 5 Facts You Should Know About The Efik People by ezeagu(m): 4:20pm On May 06, 2015
baybeeboi:
ORIGIN: The Efiks are believed to be originally from Uduak Eset (Isangele) in Cameroon before they migrated to Nigeria as far back as 8,000 BC.

The Efik migrated from their Ibibio homeland in the 1500s, changed their system of government, got rich and the rest is history.

The Efik had interesting traditions with one of them being the Fattening Room practice. Here, virgins were overfed, massaged and made to sleep for long periods to become the perfect, robust bride
This is also practised in Okrika Kingdom

'Lucy' is 3.2 million years old and the oldest known human.

Homo sapiens are said to be 195,000 years old.

Your Bible is a book of fairy tales not historical fact.

Yup especially the Efiks and Ijaws. You can see it in their liberal culture and abundance of English surnames.

Those 'English' surnames came about because the English were too lazy to pronounce Efik names properly and also English was the language of trade - so 'Nsa' became Henshaw.

Definitely not Ijaws. The Ijaws of old were timid and generally avoided the white men and vice versa. Another group that dealt largely with the whites was the Itsekiris.
