patches689: I don't post citation for foolish questions you always ask. Waste your own time not mine. Russia will not field old T-72 against NATO in war, they will lead attack with T-90 in frontline. You said Su-27 has not seen combat, that is the third time you will say it in a few months and I keep educating you about Badme war, fact is you know next to nothing about air warfare, that's why you called F-14 Tomcat an F-14 Phantom twice in 30 minutes, same reason you say Gripen jet radar in ground search is 120 km range 1 Like |

MikeCZAR: Libya had 1970s obsolete air defence wrecked by years of neglect, sanctions, and internal civil war. Why not fly Rafale jet against modern S-400 Russian air defence missile? Try fly Rafale against Su-35 Flanker . |

osystein: This will mark the second time i have felt the need to write a MOD after a ban, at the risk of derailment. And as the first, it is never borne from the urge to protest the ban itself, but rather a subtle need to draw to the awareness of the MOD certain intricacies that characterise certain thread/post. Needless to say, it is far easier wielding the big hammer than taking a dedicated effort to be an umpire and a moderator. All of societies the world over, political discussion is often an animated and heated one, more especially when you have a debate about the structure and composition of two countries in question. You seem to be relatively, the new MOD on foreign affairs and my assumption is based on the fact that we have had other MODs including a female whom i will not name in order to avoid unnecessary "mentions" on their notifications. And they did take time to blend in with us,but that was after several hasty bans and their associated futility. Then they became true umpires rather than just hasty MODs eager to wield the big stick. They discovered also the shrouded feature of the longest thread in the entire history of nairaland: honest debate has since given way to pure naked rivalry by the visitors. Mr. MOD, this thread is about 3 years old if not longer and NO honest debate last that long on any online forum. If you would take the effort to scroll down the pages you will see they are occasionally marked by off-topic postings, emotional reactions, real event happenings which are all momentary derailment often sorted out without external help; granted, there have been one or two instances where a MOD had employed true moderating skills to pull everyone back on track. If anyone is a political scientist by training or a political observer by interest, the secret but open rivalry between Nigeria and South Africa cannot be missed. And the debate here is a shadow reflecting the actual interactions of our two governments even at this very minute. It is the reason why there are only South African nationals left on this thread for years now! The occasional jibes and clever inclusion of off-topic remarks to make points and garner scores can NEVER be ruled out in a debate of this nature and one this long between Nigerians and South Africans. After all, when Nigeria recalled her envoy from Pretoria two week ago, South Africa's supposed professional diplomat, Mr. Monyela who is suppose to wear the cloak of diplomacy as a second skin did not only jeer at Nigeria but also made off-topic remarks wit Chibok girls and Boko haram. That was a diplomatic derailment from topic. I do not own a crash course on diplomacy but if professional diplomats can have impulsive reactions in political situations , the patriot in me will cause me occasional schizophrenia in standing up for Nigeria. And if you happen to be the MOD during my five minutes of illogical rantings, could you be an umpire rather than a MOD always itching to use the big stick ? Regards Leslie. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

agaugust:That was mainly because Isreali army overtly depended on tanks rather than its infantry, most of isreal's 'loss' in battle stems from too many machines but too little infantry on ground for situation awareness. In certain terrains and forts, too many war machines hinder rather than aid battle efforts. That been said, the Isreali military remains the strongest military force in the middle east. |

MikeCZAR:Libya had heavy military tech. but had little trained manpower to properly wield them all. Bombing libya was successful partly because their was a lot of nuclear tipped missiles involved and also because libya didnt have enough manpower to challenge invading forces due to fighting simultaneous wars against local militias, insurgents and renegade islamic cults. No matter how powerful the rafale is,it cannot evade or destroy the S-400 ADM in a dedicated combat. |

EVarn:Libya was not in any serious war with anyone when NATO started its bombing campaign. Their air force was being used to bomb protesters. What nuclear missiles? It can with stand-off weapons or jamming equipment. |

MikeCZAR: We are launching another Nigerian built satellite into orbit this year, and a home built and launched one in 2018. So, it's coming on fine. Sudan has always had a more significant industry than Nigeria. Their industry has to support their sanctions hit military. Everything they are making have already been designed by Nigeria along time ago. We are doing just very fine actually. Nigeria has a more innovative industry. |
