glin:and am sure your friends are not circumcised. Ask them to stop telling you things like that, they don't happen anymore. Btw,which girl will accede to that? Igbos did practice it as well, they called it isa aru or iwu aru while Urhobos as well practiced and called it "Opha" 1 Like |

UnknownT: Mbökö is just a kind of chant. It doesn't mean anything serious. It's like saying Igbo kwenu. Just that. |

TheSonOfMark: Efik will soon go extinct...I've lived in Calabar and other parts of Cross River for quite some time now...the percentage of efik speakers are negligible...the Ibibios are really taking over |

mmsen:was history documented at 3.2 million years or evidence of fossils from carbondating told u that? Give us the evidence efik people at 8000BC. |
Re: 5 Facts You Should Know About The Efik People by mmsen: 11:46pm On May 06, 2015 |
leonprince: Carbon dating is used to identify the age of a skeleton or item. That is how Lucy was dated. That is how the dinosaurs were dated. That is how we know that the Bible is wrong when it comes to the age of the earth - life has existed on earth for much longer than 6000 years. I do not know what they found of the Efiks to suggest that they were around from 8000 BC but there are cave paintings in parts of the world that are 30,000 years old. |

Osc: They're all the same people, just separated by water over time. No one has been able to explain to me how the Annangs are different from the others. At best it appears to be a dialect, it most certainly is not a different language. 1 Like |

TheSonOfMark: That would suggest that they are different dialects, not languages. The same is found in Hausa but there is one standardized form, likewise Igbo since the time of Zik. |

mmsen:no doubt abt that if you read other christain writings which I know u don't, there is something called pre-adamic time. Ma point is u can't just write 8000BC and xpect every reader to take it in, that why I used the bible as reference. |

leonprince: Which other 'Christian writings'? The Bible should not be used as a reference point - the date and origins of the Bible is itself not certain. |

Re: 5 Facts You Should Know About The Efik People by mmsen: 12:09am On May 07, 2015 |
leonprince: The stories of the old testament could date as far back as the 10 century BC or the 18th century BC, that is a huge gulf. You cannot have such a broad base date. |

leonprince: Available evidence indicates that the original homeland of Ibibio is at Usak Edet (Isangele) in the Cameroon. According to Ford and Jones, the Ibibio settlement of Isangele now forms a small tribe in the Kumba Division of Cameroon. Upon leaving the Cameroon territory, the Ibibio arrived at their present location following two major directions.Probably about 8000 BC one group reached Nigeria by an overland route and settled at Ibom (Arochuku) there they erected the famous shrine now known as the Long Juju of Arochuku. From Ibom some of the Ibibio people spread to Abak, Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, and other areas of what is known as the mainland of Cross River State. https://closingdebateonafrica./2013/02/09/origin-and-early-history-of-the-ibibio-people-of-nigeria/ 1 Like |
